Complementing dinner at the ancestral home in Makati.
Menu : Comfort food- Family style double fried CPA au jus ( chicken & pork adobo ), then we ordered the Milky Way super peanuty sauce Kare kare . Loaded with my favorite 127820128155 puso ng saging. The combo meal of our youth...
Topped with one of the best gisadong bagoong alamang in town ...

Summer is almost here!!!! But it doesn't have to be summer to enjoy a good halo-halo!

The halo-halo from the Milky Way Café is divine! They have so much toppings and a generous scoop of ube ice cream. Yum. A wonderful way to end a meal is to have a really good dessert. 10084

After our yakiniku dinner, I was supposed to drop Reich T at Greenbelt 1 when I had the urge to eat something sweet. We went to Milky Way Café for some good old halo-halo.

The last time I was here I rated 4 stars but I was not totally impressed with their halo-halo. This visit was better! Probably because I allowed the home made ube ice cream to melt with the crushed ice and milk. The consistency is awesome! Thick and creamy, I slurped every spoon I could get!

More leche flan and ube jam and I might have completely fall in love with their halo-halo!

Milky Way started out as a dairy bar in Manila in the 1950's.  In 1962, Julie Gamboa took over the ownership and management of the bar from her father.  With the help of her husband,  Gamboa ably steered the Milky Way fast food franchise and the rest is history.

This is the last stop of our impromptu foodie adventure.  When one says Halo-Halo,  i think of Razon's.  Yes,  i am predictable.  I like their version because of its simplicity and the voodoo they do with shaving ice.  I've tried a couple of joints but I still go back to Razon's.  This will soon change because of Milky Way.

Ze Milky Way Halo Halo.  Traditional, shaved ice,  beans,  pinipig,  sweetened bananas, milk, gulaman and all of the other stuff used for this tasty treat.  They say thay Vintage never goes out of style -  this is it.  Halo-Halo,  vintage,  tradional,  a classic Filipino dessert.  And oh,  Jairus d mentioned that the ice cream is from the Milky Way pantry.  And yes,  it is not too sweet,  goes well with my genes 128522

Ze Ube Ice Cream.  This deserves a separate paragraph.  The consistency of this ice cream is off the charts.  You can tell if the consistency is off if the ice cream melts easily (Im no expert,  but i think consistency is directly proportional to liquefaction)  I think this is a product of old-fashioned churning and the usage of premium ingredients.  Simple flavors,  artisan in taste.

And yes,  im gonna spend a lot of sleepless nights for ignoring Milk Way at Plant.

Had lunch w the big bosses last week and we were all craving for filipino cuisines...thus Milky Way is the way hahaha

The place was jampacked and we needed to wait a few minutes as the service staff were putting up an extra table for us.

Inspite of the place being full, service was a breeze (not sure if bcoz my boss was a regular here or they really have efficient service)

We ordered the ff
Sinigang na baka
Steamed apahap
Inihaw na baboy
Ginisang ampalaya

Total bill i didnt see as my boss paid for it #freeloader mode

I must admit that i dont like fish that much but the steamed apahap(whatever that is) ...was exceptionally yum...the sauce and herbs were
Not overpowering...the fish itself was sweet.

Presentation was a plus for me.

The inihaw and sinigang were the usual home cooked taste.

Had the sago't gulaman wc was a perfect match to end the meal.

Will go back here soon w the fambam and try their other dishes...

I saw severa lechon kawali wc looked yummy .

The whole cafe smelled like bagoong and even if i don't hate it, it's a bit distracting.

I'm not even sure if it's bagoong! HAHHAHA

THE HALO-HALO was good! But I felt like there's so much ube ice cream and not enough ice&milk

Ancient backlog.....

This establishment has been there for generations. Weve visited again last year ... Thinking it must still be really good to survive all the newcomers infiltrating the dining scene in town.

Typical home cooked filipino meal.... no special plating ... Just straightforward homey good dishes.. The place was bordering on the shabby looking or a - once used to be famous eatery from time long before ... seasoned waitstaff were all very friendly though but not as enthusiastic & informative as the new age well trained waitstaff in other newly competitive restos ...

Nonetheless ... Food serve we're hot , taste like what it's suppose to taste....quite average when compared with those serving more tasty cuisine ... & so ... nothing special or surprising ... No new dishes to boost too.

We only got surprised when the bill came ... omg!!! ..

Among the treats Milky Way has, their guinomis lures me back to this food institution. The coco cream hard shell on top of the coconut ice cream gives the usual sago, gulaman, pinipig and arnibal that stellar quality that makes me crave for this dessert/merienda.

Tried their Halo-halo, at first, parang normal lang pero sabi nga nila "Don't judge the book by its cover" 128515 ooooppps do not eat the ice cream alone! Mix it with other ingredients and you'll see the real magic. Hihi.

This is by far the worst pesto pasta I have ever tried. The taste was so bland.

Would have rated two stars if not for their Halo-halo. They could also call it the ube halo-halo once you mix it all up it would turn purple. Or maybe ube ice cream was the only flavor available at the time of our visit.

The place is nice though. Nice place to chat and dine with family or friends 128077

They serve my all-time favorite halo-halo! Photo shows just a half serving because I split an order with my mom. I love this so much I basically inhaled it before the main meals arrived. Save for Razon's, there is usually a multitude of components to a halo-halo (hence the name). But more doesn't necessarily mean better. I basically look for 4 key components to a great halo-halo experience -- the ice cream which must be ube, the ingredients which must include a discernible-sized leche flan and which should blend well together with the other ingredients, the quality of the shaved ice, and the taste of the milk at the bottom of the glass imbued with the flavors of all the ingredients. Milky Way's is my benchmark for any halo-halo. Some may come close, but nothing compares to their homemade ube ice cream. It's so thick it's almost like halaya.

Oh, we also had laing which was creamy and delicious and the inihaw na baboy. They were good, but I'm still coming off a high from the halo-halo.

The servers are very friendly. It almost seemed like we were eating at home and them just casually chatting with us, asking if we were enjoying our meal. I always enjoy coming here which is why this is a favorite haunt of the family. That and because it's walking distance from our place.

Like wham, I have nothing much to say about Milky Way, they are superb! Food are all DELICIOUS...so do drop by, see and experience the taste of my favorite place, MilkyWay. By the way if you need a reservation please ask or look for Ate Snooky...she's a nice person...since am an avid fan and been there for a number of times, i became close to them and they're all nice. Milky Way is a collections of food, with a touch of old style and new one.
