It would be so nice to come here every week - month even - but I obviously couldn't. Here I am 5 months after my last visit, and I ordered the same thing - half a bowl with egg, and shiitake bao. As great as I remembered.

The soup is shoyu-based and is quite
sweet, so fair warning to those who don't like that sort of thing. Also, my egg was poached, which is great for me, but not quite what we're used to from, say, ramen nagi.

Ahhhh, the shiitake bao is really where it's at. When you think about it, it really is quite pricey. Do I really care? Hahahahahahahaha no.

I also took home a chicken bao and shiitake bao for my mum, but I had hunger pangs last night and couldn't resist gobbling up that chicken bao. Not bad either, the sauce is similar to buffalo wings and also with that signature heat. I did leave the shiitake for my mum coz I'm not a bao monster.

I asked whether they were closed for holidays, and they weren't. I'll see you on Chinese New Year then, hopefully.

I've tried a lot of the ramen places here in Manila and I have my favorites among the popular ones. But I can't help but long for this bowl of goodness that takes some scheduling effort to experience. Because it's only open until Saturday, and I usually come home late and too tired, I find myself craving for THIS ramen EVERY. SUNDAY. Smart move, guys. 128079

From the folks that brought us Rural Kitchen, Mio Cantina continues the legacy of great food originating with Mio Cucina. Cantina is all about simple but great tasting fare: shoyu ramen, 4 kinds of bao, parm fries (?) and not much else. It's student food but much more flavorful (and pricey, haha). When I finally had the opportunity to go last week, I ordered my favorites: a half bowl of ramen and shiitake mushroom bao. SO GOOD. I thought I died and went to pig heaven.

This only cost me 275 pesos, not bad at all.
