From Beef Siomay , fried carrot cakes, minced chicken with mushroom, beef brisket to Seafood Congee,

Yes yes we are hungry haha, the place are crowded and the price really really worth it with the taste & quantity of food that we ordered, all less than P9h,

The taste all good, really worth for your fat and pocket haha...

Go try it guys!

Hakaw, yang chow fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and spareribs in photo.

Chinese food is chinese food, I was never a fan but I think I've had better.

Generous servings though.

Extinction Burst refers to the concept of eliminating a behavior by refusing to reinforce it.  The burst is a temporary increase in a behavior that usually precedes a reward, a plea from the recesses of your psyche as soon as the conditioned response is no longer yielding results.

Why the psychology babble, you ask.  Simple, I've been on a diet for x number of days and carbs aint part of the equation.  So,  i had a terrible case of the muchies - directed to carbs.  I forcibly removed carbs hence the serious case of the munchies.  When one eliminates a behavior,  your brain craves for it 10x more.  Relapse in AA terms.

Let's set aside the Psychology talk.  I was meeting him for dinner and i was craving for carbs weally weally bad.  I had images of Chow Mien in my head.  Without too much coercing,  he said we should grab a bite a Mongkok.   I felt giddy after hearing this.

Mongkok is my Lola's favourite Chinese Restaurant.  We both have an affinity with their Chicken Chow Mien.  I had a stupid grin on my face while i was telling him this.  He decided that we should order the Spareribs Chow Mien,  i gave him ten nods in agreement.

For php 280, this noddle dish can satiate five skinny homo sapiens.  Sad to say,  this aint the case for us.  The noodles were cooked perfectly.  The snow peas,  bell pepper,  carrots and shitake mushrooms were stir fried to perfection, i can tell because the peas are crispy on each bite.  Then there's the chuncks of spareribs...Mmmmmm.  Drizzle em with some chili garlic sauce  and you are in Chow Mien heaven.

Mongkok is the way to go for affordable and delicious Chinese fare.  This i say while i daydream about their Chow Mien.

Went to Powerplant mall yesterday with hubby and my son Latrell Joshua L to pick up our family portrait at The Picture Company last Christmas Photoshoot then we end up having our lunch at Mongkok.

It's our first time at Mongkok Powerplant Mall. We ordered our favorite "hakao" then Latrell Joshua L favorite rice topping, sweet and sour fish fillet and this time we tried their lechon kawali. Crispy and it's good also. Service was fast, staffs are accommodating and the ambience was nice and not crowded.

Spotted Kim Henares while having lunch here 128513

Chow mein (chow meaning fried,  mein meaning noodles)  are stir-fried noodles, the dish is popular throughout the Chinese diaspora where it would appear on the menu of Chinese restaurants.  It is particularly popular in the United States,  Britain, Australia, Nepal,  India, and South Africa.

I have an iota of Chinese blood in my system hence i crave for a lil Chinese Cuisine every now and then.   Mongkok is my go-to-place place for yummy and affordable food.   I have a fondness with their Chow Mein noodles.  Flavorful,  filling,  oozing with Chinese goodness and wont burn a whole in your pocket.  One order would cost you less than php 300 and the serving is good for 4 people.  The noodles are cooked to perfection,  crispy veggies and seafood and the voodoo sauce they use.

Still a bit full from a children's party, we opted for dimsum for dinner. Couldn't resist ordering a platter of Yang Chow though!

On the table
Yang chow fried rice - the usual flavorful chinese fried rice. I still give the sausages and peas to the hubby.
Hakaw - fresh tasting shrimp
Salad shrimp puff - interesting and yummy but didn't care much for the sweet mayo like sauce
Lobster roll - ang sarap! The dipping sauce too which i even used for the salad shrimp puff

Mongkok is still one of our go to places for Dimsum.

My XLB adventure didn't go so well since I was craving for the typical siomai after all.

Found Mongkok while walking around Power Plant and knew I had to pop in and order them darn siomai (siomais?).

Exactly what I was expecting. Siomai craving satisfied! Plus they gave me tons of calamansi! Service was good although the place needs a little love. Maybe it's time to renovate?

Late lunch at Rockwell yesterday! Place wasn't as packed like we were expecting because everybody was at Chili's, watching Pacquiao's match. This is what we had:

-Beef Wanton Noodle (the soup tastes wonderful! They claimed the serving was good for 2. Hell, make that 4!)
-Sweet & Sour Fish Rice (always a staple with certain Chinese restaurants. Serving was also for 3 to 4 heads.)
-Shao Long Pao (IDK why they called it that way, but whatever the spelling, it's still Xiao Long Bao, right? Anyway, I got a hint of ginger. If that's how it's supposed to taste like, then I'm all 5 stars on the matter.)

What made me take one star down from this review was the bill out process. My mom had to go directly to the cashier to get it done.

All in all, I'd give it a second go. :)

I can tell if a congee would taste great just by the looks of it. And this was just one sad looking congee I ever had. 128532 it's watery and was just basically ginger all over. Good thing, the calamansi juice was really made out of pure calamansi goodness!

It's been a while since I ate here, and I would have to say that I missed their food. Just by ordering Dimsum and their spareribs(or any viand) + yang chao fried rice, your lunch is complete already! Simply appetizing.

Thanks mongkok! But you gotta improve your service next time. :)

Just because I still have this dimsum hangover, I demanded a friend to accompany me to satisfy my cravings.

What I picked: spareribs with taosi, lobster roll and fresh shrimp dumpling (on the picture) well, I finished these all by myself and I'm soooo full XD

Yay to spareribs with taosi!! (May taba nga lang, which I don't like). Lobster roll is a fried one but delish indeed. However, fresh shrimp dumpling is bad. Or maybe because it isn't hot anymore. I waited for the two para isahang picture na lang :))

Good place, check! I really love sitting on couches. Haha friendly crew rin and not masungit, they smiled :)

Whenever I pass by Powerplant Mall, the restaurant is always jampacked. Mongkok Dimsum & Noodles must be that good that they never ran out of customers.

Beef Wanton Noodle Soup (Php 160)
They have the best broth, as if the beef and vegetables were stewed for such a long time that all their flavors have been fused in the soup. The stringy noodles are thin, chewy and tough at the same time. Beef chunks are served in generous proportions so that you will always emerge from the meal with a full-to-burst stomach.

Salt & Pepper Spareribs (Php 270)
The salt and pepper spareribs were a bit tough but were delicious. It was hot enough to leave a small bite on the tongue.

Overall, I now understand why a lot of people eat at Mongkok Dimsum & Noodles. Their food is definitely delicious plus the service is nice too!

Another first! Coming from a Chinese family, occasionally dining out in an authentic, red & gold-themed with an enormous aquarium restaurant is not unusual. Personally, to eat at a Chinese restaurant by choice is merely a product of craving, nothing more. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE Chinese food. I appreciate it especially when its all made from the finest ingredients. Ooohh that MSG!128541

Today was sort of a soul-searching afternoon mainly because i had to kill time all by myself, in a mall, on a weekday. I had my drug test done at Hi-Precision Diagnostics & had to wait 4 hours for the result. Since i filled myself with water in order for the test to be done, it took some time before i realized i haven't really had anything to eat. Also, since i'm oddly sensitive to cool temperature, i wanted some soup & so here i am!128075

My favorites would have to be Wonton Noodle Soup & Hakaw, which are the ones i ordered. Duh!128513 the soup reminded me of Nissin's Chicken mami, i don't know if it was the taste or because it was THAT yellow? Some portions of the wrapper were uncooked. The wonton, meh. The hakaw from the basket looked well-formed, but once you had your chopsticks on it, kept falling apart! Labo. It had 3 malnourished & overcooked shrimps inside. They looked so kawawa.128558
