Missed dining here! Really like their Chicken Katsu Curry. It’s really crispy and and tender. It was served with three sauces this time. I liked the curry and gravy. Didn’t try the other one which I suppose was mustard. We had two sushi that time, namely, Voltron and Shake Nigiri. Yum! 128523

Mr. Roboto is located at Alabang Town Center. It’s a modern Japanese restaurant with lots of Japanese robots on the wall mural. We’ve been passing by the area for a long time and never tried it, maybe because of its fancy robot theme. Honestly, I misjudged the place.

We ordered the Modern Salmon Sashimi; the salmon meat quality was great. I’m not a fan of raw salmon yet I really enjoyed it. We also ordered the Mr. Roboto Modern Sushi; I liked how the spicy tuna complements with the cucumber roll.

Everytime we visit a Japanese restaurant, my default order is katsu, simply because I’m not a ramen fan nor a sushi fan. Their Pork Katsu was flavorful; the strong curry sauce added depth to the katsu. But unfortunately, the pork was not tender. It was hard to chew.

Innovative and good tasting Makis in a robot themed setting. I enjoyed the Tuna and Salmon Makis i ordered. Both has distinct flavors. The tuna was torched and with a faint hint of smokiness. The fresh Salmon paired well with the beet flavored sushi rice. Service was friendly, place was clean during our visit. When in Alabang this a good place to visit. Recommended.

Domo arigato,
Mr. Roboto.
Domo arigato,
Mr. Roboto.

I think of this song and immediately fast forward to that How I Met Your Mother episode where Barney treats Robin and Ted to a belly full of turkey Thanksgiving dinner at a strip club. It is that catchy and you will find yourself singing a few lines over and over.

And that same song, which is almost as old as I am, sparked the inspiration for Mr. Roboto's central theme - 80's music coupled with robots, anime and Japanese food. It perfectly makes sense to go get Japanese food amidst colorful robot-themed interiors. Their feature wall made up of various cartoons and anime posters of robots from Astroboy to Voltes V, to Daimos and Mazinger Z, serve as the focal point of the restaurant. The place looks a bit small but it can seat 30 to 40 pax comfortably. I was not surprised that it gets packed during lunch period as it is quite popular to the offices nearby. The lunch crowd consists of mostly millennial foodies out to have fun on their break.

Presentation wise, Mr. Roboto's food is pretty and quite inviting. Their entire line of nigiri, maki, and sushi was named after 80's robots and each type of roll boasts of modern twists to much-loved Japanese classics.

Each roll was different from the others, no two rolls are alike definitely! You can see the owners' passion and creativity from each of the nigiri, maki, and sushi presented to us. They're too pretty to eat!

The Mr. Roboto priced at P280 has spicy tuna, nagi tuna and aburi tuna with their Secret furikake on top. My favorite would be the Shake Nigiri at P255 with the pink Secret Secret neets sauce providing that sweet and sour punch. The Voltes V was great too, reasonably priced at P280. If you love kani, get this and indulge in their large sized bites!

Servings for their rice bowls are quite hefty too. A bowl of their Chicken Karaage and Ultimate Prawn Tempura could feed 2 to 3 peeps right off the bat. Their chicken katsu was crunchy breaded outside but juicy and cooked just right, made even more perfect with the accompanying curry on top of fragrant rice. Their prawn tempuras were not oily, the batter remained crispy and gave way to tender cooked prawns. I like the veggie tempuras that they included in the mix too! If you're quite hungry, feast on their big donburi and tempura bowls, and I would understand completely if you choose not to share! Hahaha!

But please, do share the Nori Nachos because they are the bomb! This is not your ordinary nachos as it features huge cuts of nori chips and delightful fried crispy kani strips. I love the contrast of the textures of the crispy kani and the fresh tuna and spicy salmon, all drenched in cream cheese and wasabi mayo.

I look forward to going back and trying more of their rolls and the tempura with the boo, because I know for sure he'll go gaga over the food and that awesome feature wall. Date night with a fun twist!

Went here accidentally on the anniv of Voltes V! 🤖

You would think Voltes V generation would fill this place but surprisingly, it was filled with hs kids; I’m not even sure if they know VoltesV128514. Anyway, I think the food is okay. Something “them” millennials would really dig and wouldn’t mind yet whether they were getting a good kind of jap rice or sashimi as long as food is fried, creamy and light on the pocket128521. Loved the corn with uni the most but everything else was so-so but very filling. Makes me wish we had hang-out places like these back in the days! 128117🏼

Cool Japanese resto. Got their inspiration from the music Mr Roboto by Styx. Liked their wall of robots. Food is great too! Salmon and Tuna Sushi is not the usual presentation.

I’ve been craving for japanese food for days already and I’m having a hard time choosing which Japanese resto is worth trying for. And then I saw this retro japanese robot-themed resto and I was like this emoji 128525. Lol the little kid inside me was so happy to see robots like Voltes V, Daimos and Voltron all over the place.

I order their Mr. Roboto gendai sushi, chashu donburi and chicken katsu. I really loved the Mr. Robito sushi and the big cut of pork belly in their chashu donburi. The curry sauce and cheese suace is oishi also! 128076🏼

I will definitely go back here and will try the other bestsellers. Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto! 🤖

The interiors have this throwback-to-the-90s feel yet having a modern take. I liked that they made the space looked open as the place itself was quite small. You have your bar for solo diners and multiple seats for those in groups.
Nori Nachos (P350) - Instead of the usual nacho chip, they transformed nori to a nacho consistency. Very smart on this take! Topped with crispy kani, pickled tuna and spicy salmon, this was drizzled in cream cheese and wasabi mayo. The overall taste was good and the serving size was huge. Our group of three wasn’t able to finish this. I hope they do have portion sizes for this because that serving is best for big groups.

I wanted to try their sushi but being hungry that time, that was out of the option. Haha. We had their rice meals instead which was big in terms of portion. If you’re not that hungry, two people could share one rice dish and order sushi on the side. Both the tempura (Ultimate Prawn Tempura (P450)) and Chicken Teriyaki (P420) were good. Their Ultimate Prawn Tempura had a lot of components such as vegetable tempura and soft boiled egg which paired well with the whole dish. Its sauce was quite different. Veering from the usual consistency of a tempura sauce, theirs was thick. It was good in terms of flavor. Their Chicken Teriyaki was quite good. The chicken was grilled well and very tender. I had their Chicken Katsu (P420) in curry sauce. I enjoyed every bite of that dish. The chicken was crunchy and at the same time, tender and juicy on the inside. I liked the kick on their curry sauce which paired well with the Chicken Katsu. It came with a different sauce (forgot to take note of it) but I liked it w/o it.

Dishes are a tad bit on the expensive side but most are good for sharing. I was able to try their sushi dish (Shake Nigiri to be exact) which had that secret secret sauce. I found it to have an interesting flavor but good though my friend that time didn’t enjoy it as much. Since I was back a week later, that’s a testament to how good the food is here. Service was on point and it’s just fun to be around their quirky and colorful interiors.
