Mt. Isarog is one of the highest Peaks in Bicol Area. As per the locals, the word "Isarog" means "Only Love" We day hiked and took us 9 hours of mixed trekking and trail running. There are three trails here 1.) Pinaglabanan is the most difficult because it's a mix of river crossing 2) Paniquason-The second highest and the trail we chose because we wanted to see Mt. Mayon 3) Patag Trail-The easiest however it's going to be a long walk just to get to the summit.

Not all mountaineers got a chance to hike Mt. Isarog because they don't allow walk in climbers so you need to get a permit first from Sir Jojo. The mountain is well preserved because the trail is not that "bugbog" compare to other mountains. You'll see some wildlife's here like monkeys, birds and etc. Climbing Mt. Isarog is very challenging. There are some parts of the mountain trail where you need to fit in yourself just to keep going, hold on to the roots and rocks and the 90 degree assault. Once you pass the camp 5, you'll see the mossy forest which is similar to Mt. Cristobal in Laguna. I'm just happy because by far, this is the cleanest mountain I've climbed. No trashes left by campers. Too bad we don't have clearing when we climbed. We missed to see Mt. Mayon from the top but I'll definitely come back here for a sweet revenge.

So for Independence Day 2015, we decided to scale the limatik infested trail of Mt. Isarog via Panicuason Trail.

Trail is mostly ascending which begins at the Panicuason Falls. Then you will enter a forest line then cogon then forest again. Took us 5hours to reach Camp 2, where we decided to camp for the night. Water from the water source was limited so we decided not to push further as the water sources in Camps 3 and 4 are unsure.

Camp 2 is located under a canopy of trees. But there were lots of mosquitoes. Wide enough to house 7 tents, mostly tadpole ones.

From Camp 2, it's another 3-4hours to reach the summit where you can view Mt. Mayon by climbing a tree on a good day wih clearing.
