This was my last stop before I headed back to Baguio. I believe this was my 8th, and final restaurant of my Manila foodventure.

I traveled all the way back north to QC to have a late dinner with relatives at Muang Thai. In all honesty, I couldn't take another bite. But as the soon as the smell of our orders came in, I was rejuvenated to eat once more for the road!

Our orders were:

Muang Thai Fried Rice: This house fried rice is their best seller. It had the perfect blend of meat and seafood. I savored this rice, because it wasn't oily at all. I had myself seconds and thirds. hehehe

Stir Fried Broccoli with Beef: What's an Asian restaurant with broccoli and beef?! Can't go wrong with this one! The beef was tender, the broccoli still had its crispness, and the sauce was ever so delicious!

Crispy Catfish Salad: Cripy flakes of catfish was awesome! The saltiness of the catfish with the sour & sweetness of the mangoes played well together. This is a must try!

Spicy Mixed Seafood Soup: Pretty much, this Tom Yum! It had the sourness, a nice kick from the peppers, and well cooked seafood Tom Yum should have. The authenticity was shown on this soup when I saw the fresh lime leaves used to make it sour. 🙃🙃🙃

Chicken in Pandan Leaves: I loved how tender and plump the chicken was. It had the right amount of saltiness and sweetness that went well with the fried rice.

Sticky Rice with Ripe Mango: This was the pièce de résistance of the entire meal. This not so overly sweet dessert was very vitalizing. The delectable balance of 3 different kinds of sweetness gave me the energy I needed to head home.

Muang Thai is a special restaurant. Location wise, it's not somewhere where most would visit, but I assure the ambiance and the food will make up for it.

Muang Thai is the place to be.

That was all for my foodventue in Manila that day! I hope to have at least one, or two more before I head back overseas.

Happy Eating!!!

This is one of those underrated, off the beaten path good restaurants. Muang thai serves authentic thai food at a reasonable price.

We ordered three of their best sellers for a potluck dinner: thai bagoong rice, pad thai, and crispy catfish.

The bagoong rice is sweet and filling; i just hoped the rice would have a bit more bagoong in it. The pad thai had good flavour, but i suggest you eat it at the restaurant instead of having it to go since the noodles tend to stick after a while. The crispy catfish rocked! It stayed crispy even two hours after we first got it, and the mangga+onion+vinegar+chili sauce was sooooo good!

It's just a few meters away from Sulò Riviera Hotel. Make sure to order their Chicken in Pandan Leaves and Bagoong Rice (both no longer made it to the picture). Their Thai Iced Coffee is so good, and the presentation was unique as well.

I've tried Muang Thai since my college days and I have to say that the taste is still the same.

We ordered Catfish Salad. It's fried minced catfish with strips of green mango matched with their special vinegar sauce. For more flavor, you can ask an extra serving of their salad sauce. It's a great way to start your meal!

For our soup, we ordered Tom Yung Soup. It how's with 4 shrimps. It's their own version of sinigang but a bit spicy.

For the main dish, we ordered Spicy Beef Basil. Awesome flavor! Don't worry, it's not that spicy. Just a hint I think but if I'll have a say on it, increase the spiciness please.

For the best part, we ordered Chicken Pandan. It's kinda bitin coz it's only 4pcs but hey, it's a must try here.

We also ordered Pad Thai noodles. Not a fan of it though but it's good. I'm more on a pasta guy. Hehe.

If you want authentic Thai food, this is a good place to try. Even the Thailand Embassy recommends it. Check it out!

The food was plain good and authentic in a very heartwarming way.

We ordered the crispy catfish salad, garlic chicken wings, and bagoong rice. The crispy catfish salad is indeed generous with the crispy catfish, though I hoped it had more green mango to balance the oiliness of the catfish and for it to deserve to be called a "salad". 128523 The garlic wings is OK, but I expected a plain, non-coated chicken, not a flour coated chicken topped with sauteed garlic and spring onions, like what we were served. The bagoong rice, on the other hand, was outstanding! The balance of bagoong flavor and the sweetness of the pork, with the freshness of the green mangoes is perfect!

Would definitely come back here for the bagoong rice and to try their other bestsellers. 128568

My wife has loved this place since she was in college and its the standard by which we go by in judging Thai cuisine. No two shakes about it. Must try are the classics, bagoong rice, chicken pandan, crunchy catfish salad, prawns in curry.

Im not really lucky with Thai cuisine. We never really liked each other. I came here through my fathers reco, since he said he whenever they are in the area , their clients really love it when they dine here. And the bagoong rice was highly recommended.

That was a few years ago and ever since this is my only thai place i would go to. (Or maybe you guys could recommend better thai other than pad, and my thai... (I heard basil is good).

Food:
Bagoong rice is 128525 hehe. My default order on my numerous visits. We always partner it with something a bit dry so it wont compete with the flavors.

You should try their grilled dishes with their special sauce which is also good.(beef and squid is delicious)

Ambience:
really really really cozy, we go here for late dinner and also when i have to talk to clients.

Service:
There is this sweet old lady that always gives the best heartwarming greeting and smile. Its really nice that for years now she always holds that smile whenver we dine there. Service is fast and nothiing to complain to.

This is your good ol resto with feel good (thai)dishes and ambience.

They serve authentic thai food and all foods were quite spicy.. Forgot to mention to the waiter to have it serve with less chilli.. The lemongrass tea was more of a lemonade..

We were looking for a Japanese restaurant along Matalino st. Unfortunately, the restaurant that we're looking for wasn't available anymore. Then we found this thai restaurant, I've heard the branch along Banawe was good so I suggested we can give this one a try.

• PLACE - The ambiance was good. The lights were inviting and it had cozy chairs.

• SERVICE - The waiters were a bit slow. I asked for water and it took forever. The food was served to us after 1 hour and we were too hungry when the food arrived.

• FOOD - It was okay but I don't find it authentic. I have been to different thai restaurants and I think this was the worst. Perhaps the one in Banawe is okay but this one is not.

Overall, it was okay for me. If you're a thai food maniac, I suggest you try Som's near powerplant mall. :)

Been going here for more than 15 years now and still is one of my favorite Thai restaurants! Catfish salad, chicken in pandan leaves, tom yum soup and beef basil are still cooked the same delicious way!

The BEST Thai food I've ever tried. I'm speaking for the original Banawe branch in front of STC and POC. Authentic to the core, any of their dishes will take you to Thailand in an instant!

This is one of the affordable Thai restaurants in Quezon City. Been one of their fans since they were originally at the old place near V Luna.

Love the bagoong rice, vegetarian fried spring roll, clams with basil, stuffed crab shells and more.
