I have been going crazy over Mystery Manila and I was quite surprised that I had a hard time finding friends to drag to this fun place. Luckily, I saw a post of one of my former colleagues saying that she will go with her boyfriend. I put my thick face on and asked if I could tag along. (Yes, third/fifth/seventh wheeling is my hobby.) They agreed and as soon as we set on a date, it was game on. Woo hoo~

I think we were a bit too excited as we arrive 45 minutes before our schedule. A, being the “cool” one, suggested that we kill some time inside the car as to not look too eager. But after 20 minutes, we decided to go in.

The place was surprisingly small. I noticed that there are only three rooms and two of which are for the two stories while one serves as their office. There was also a chalkboard wall where they write down the top 10 teams with the fastest time in solving the case. A, M and I thought really hard on what our name should be and I really want the name “Do Not Erase” with the hope that they will never erase it. Anywaaaay…

We were greeted by the friendly staff and asked us where we’re from and offered some refreshments. (I had to ask if that’s a clue since I was in my detective mode as soon as I entered. Well, it was just iced tea and water. Nothing more.)

After signing some forms, our game keeper, Watson briefed us. (Hmm… come to think of it, is that his real name?) We had to put all of our stuff inside the lockers provided and all we were allowed to bring inside the room were the pen and paper provided by Mystery Manila. We were also given a few clues before the 60 minute time limit started.

As soon as we got in, Watson started the countdown and we began to scatter around the small room and made a mess. The goal here is to find as many clues as possible to be able to solve the case. You also have to gather all the clues before making an “intelligent” guess. If you accused the wrong person, the case will remain unsolved but if you guessed correctly but lack some clues, the gamekeeper will tell you to look for more clues.

The key here is to be VERY observant. Make sure you check every corner, every page, EVERYTHING. We wasted so much time on other things and missed out some places to check.

And sadly, we didn't get to solve the case. Huhuhu.

I will definitely visit again soon and try the other cases/stories!

Great for team-building exercises! Staff was very accommodating and nice, from booking to the moment you leave the premises. Already solved 2/4 mysteries in this branch - targeting to solve all four! 128522

Ehem! Please forgive me, but I just need to brag about this. Uh huh. Bragging rights! 128512

It's my first time when we played in Mystery Manila last weekend with my colleagues. It was super fun! 128513

And as you can see we solved our mystery, Reversed Reality, and made it to #4 on the leaderboard! Wuhoooo! Yeah! 128522 We were even told that it's the hardest mystery in this branch. 128512

Exhilarating, nerve-racking, and extremely fun! Everyone should definitely try it! 128077

They have a new branch in Century City Mall with new mysteries to solve. Go ahead and check it out! 128522

SOLVED!128077128074

My boyfriend and I decided to book for Reversed Reality. I just hate the fact that you have to pay first before getting a slot. It's quite hassle to visit the bank, especially when you're working. Good thing I was able to find time to visit the bank that week :-)

The place is smaller than I imagined. We went through briefing before entering the room! Some clues were hard to understand. I think it's quite impossible (?!?) if you don't ask the staff for a hint. But whatever... WE SOLVED IT HAHAHAHA!

This is a cooler way to spend your weekend with your special someone. We'll be back to solve more mysteries soon!

FEELING PRO TIPS:

1. They don't accept walk-ins. Call them to reserve a slot.

2. Solve the mystery within 30 min, you get a free shirt. Solve it within the 60-min time limit, you get a pen.

3. Like them on Facebook, follow them on Instagram and Twitter, you get a free Mystery Manila sticker.

4. The room that we tried, Buried Bodies requires two of your friends to go inside a coffin. Do not volunteer to be in the coffin if you're claustrophobic.

5. When your timer starts, ask for a clue. It adds 5-min to your total time. BUT it helps a lot since you dont have to start from scratch.

6. Keep asking for clues.

7. Wear comfy clothes.

8. Teamwork is key. Help each other out!

9. Having average to excellent math skills is important!

10. You'll have to leave your phone and other gadgets in their locker. You also cant bring your own flashlight.

11. Buried Bodies best time is at 23min. Beat it within 23min, and you'll be the fastest mystery "solver" in their QC branch!

Finally tried Mystery Manila!128522

We tried the Buried Bodies room at their Eastwood branch... You have three adventures to choose from... Essentially, you have to solve a series of puzzles in order to get out (and not buried alive!)... Goal is to finish the puzzles in under an hour... It was surprisingly difficult actually!

There is a marshall there with you and you can ask for clues... But beware, every clues adds 5 mins to your total time... So get ready to exercise your thinking muscles!128522

We were able to solve the mystery, but we didn't place in the top 10!128546 It was a fun afternoon, great way to bond with friends!128516

M told me he planned a different date night and he brought me here. We tried the reversed reality and I didnt expect that I would really enjoy it! M and I couldnt stop talking about it till we got home. Haha It was fun and challenging at the same time. The lawyer and soon to be lawyer weren't able to solve the mystery. Hahaha We're coming back for you, Enigma!

I love the idea of Mystery Manila, being that we don’t have much of these interesting attractions in the city. Went here the other week with my two siblings and my uncle and we decided to go with the Chained Chamber where we had 60 minutes to unlock ourselves from the handcuffs that were chained to the ground.

Time definitely went by quickly in there and we finished in 58 minutes. Thankfully we solved it because it would’ve been so frustrating if we hadn’t! Really a test of creativity, highly recommend that you give it a try if you haven’t.

Tried the Chained Chamber with my college besties and it was a great experience! Sadly, we weren't able to finish the game but the experience was so worth the 450 price tag 128077

My friends and I are super aggressive (As in sigawan at insultuhan ang peg) and ayaw magpatalo. The closer the time was up, the more aggressive we became. Hanggang paglabas ng room aggressive pa din kami 128064

Can't wait to go back to try justice for jamila 9786

Okay okay. Please don't judge us. 128514128514128514 I guess there were too much clues. 128542 The girl who assisted us told us we were that close. Oh well... But at least we enjoyed it. Some of our firsts together.

Tips.

Book online ahead of preferred sched 'coz they're usually fully booked.
I personally suggest to go in teams like 4-5. 128513

I've heard of these breakout room places before, but after just recently trying one out, I see why they're getting pretty popular!

If you've ever wanted to play detective or if you're a fan of the Saw movies, you might wanna give them a try!

You get to choose 1 of 2 rooms (one being "easier" than the other). You're brought inside blindfolded, and when you're instructed to take the blindfolds off, you have 1 hour to escape! There are clues and riddles around the room and you have to solve them to find the key!

If you finish within 30 minutes, you get a free shirt! We took around a minute longer, hence the team name "So Close" 128528
