I love nanbantei! I always have good memories here. They have good food, good drinks, and great service.

Their yakitori sticks are reasonably priced and grilled in front of you. My favourites are leba maki (chicken liver wrapped in bacon), hatsu (chicken hearts), pork yakiniku, tofu, beef yakiniku, and skewered shrimp.

Aside from yakitori, they also have grilled rice (onigiri) balls, sushi, sashimi, maki, and great tempura.

For drinks i suggest their fresh rita and hibiscus mojito - halfoff on weekends.

Nanbantei Yakitori is having an 888 promo platter for Mon-Fri until Sep 30. Last night me and my friend tried the Platter B since it has the most meat out of the 3 choices. The platter includes 15 sticks of yakitori (Beef Yakiniku, Pork Garlic, Beef Garlic, Chicken liver wrapped in bacon and Salmon Balls), 3 bowl of rice, 3 bowl of Miso Soup and a plate of Kani salad. Wow not bad for 888php. During our visit they run out of salmon balls so they asked us which of the other yakitori included in the platter to replace the salmon balls. We agreed to have another 3 sticks of the beef yakiniku to replace it.

All sticks were delicious! I love how they simply use salt and pepper but still the flavor was so good. My favorite was the bacon wrapped chicken liver. The bacon was thick and not fatty. The delicious combination of the smokey and livery flavor was very good. I also like the beef/pork garlic. The simple salt pepper flavor bring out the natural flavor of the meat. Beef yakiniku was also one of the best. Tender juicy beef.127842127841127842

What I also love about the place was eventhough we were just beside the grill kitchen area, we didn't felt a strong smell on our clothes after dining. They definitely got a good exhaust on that open yakitori bar. The server were also all excellent they prompt on our needs and refill the hot tea frequently. Good Job!

The food here is a wee bit expensive. But their current P888 promotion is super sulit. We ordered one set, the one with the tempura even though I prefer the one with karaage. The set includes 3 miso soup, 3 gohan, 3 tebasaki, 3 potato maki, 3 negima, 3 aspara maki, 3 pork yakiniku and ebi tempura. This should be good for 2-3 persons already.

You can never really go wrong with Nanbantei!!!

I love this place for their good yakitoris - Negima, Pork Garlic Yaki, Kawa and Aspara Maki (to name a few).

We wanted to get their platters bec it's cheaper but thought of just getting our favorites individually. I guess all their platters are sulit but the yakitori variation is not that good so we will just waste some of it.

Their Yakitoris are best paired with their teriyaki sauce. It's not part of the complementary condiments (soy sauce and the one for the veggies) but you can always ask and they will give it to you for FREE!!! I mean it's a big deal to get free stuff these days because most restaurants ask you to pay an additional fee if you ask for something that's not part of your order. Wala nang libre sa mundo.

I loved the Greenbelt branch because their staffs were really so friendly, accommodating and polite. They value their customers so they'd treat you well and I liked it so much! We were even given 2 coffee jellies because we were looloo members!!! I forgot the requirement to be able to avail the free dessert but it is also seldom that restaurants allow 2 people on the same table to avail freebies!

Overall, our experience was perfect!!! It was just right to comfort us from the heavy rains and traffic yesterday! :)

23 July 2016

Finally got to experience this place in all its non-closing-time-glory. We came here for lunch after Star Trek and swear it was the best thing ever.

We ordered the Best Sellers Platter which contained...
1. Aspara Maki (asparagus wrapped with pork)
2. Pork Garlic Yaki
3. Shiso Maki (ground pork wrapped in Shiso leaf)
4. Poteto Maki (potato wrapped in bacon)
5. Tebasaki (chicken wings)
6. Negima (chicken meat and leeks)
7. Corn

You get 3 sticks each of their bestsellers for a total of 21 STICKS! I loved everything (except the corn because I totally hate corn).

The Aspara Maki was surprisingly good. The pork lends flavor to the asparagus. The Pork Garlic Yaki was amazing. Tender and juicy. The Shiso Maki was surprisingly very flavorful. I have no idea what a shiso leaf is but who cares if it tastes good, right? Of course, I also liked the Poteto Maki. It's bacon! And the potato was cooked well.

The Tebasaki is okay as well as the Negima. But the highlight were the pork sticks.

Everything was so good I ate two bowls of rice. And I wanted one more but I opted not to because I'm afraid I won't fit in my shorts anymore. 128532

My top favorites would be the 1. Shiso Maki, 2. Pork Garlic Yaki, and 3. Aspara Maki.

As for the service, really great as well. They have very attentive servers with 100 megawatt smiles.

Will definitely go back for more. I hope soon because writing this made me crave for them again. 128557

My friend wanted cocktails after the movie, and decided Nanbantei after seeing that the cocktails are at 50% off on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I got the Malibu Midori which has Bacardi and sweet and sour mix on it, and the Hibiscus Mojito on the second round which also has Bacardi white and Mojito mint. Both are originally priced at P175/glass. Probably will be my go-to cocktails place.

We ended up eating here because this was the only one we found still open. We got out of the office late. 128557 But it was a good choice. The food is amazing. I'm not sure what we ordered though. The SO ordered everything because I was a cranky monster (because hunger, okay?) to check out the menu. But everything was delicious. I would have had another round if I wasn't too full already. Would definitely go back. We stayed for a short while only because the place was already closing and we were too hiya to make all the resto crew wait for us to leave. So we ate fast and thus was not able to savor the great food. UNFORTUNATELY. Oh well. An excuse to go back again (as if we need one. Lol).

Who doesn't love a good japanese food, right? This is my comfort good and I never go wrong with yakitori when I go to Nanbantei. Well, Yakitori is their thing so expect great quality. We tried their kani salad as seen in the 4th pic which is refreshing. Big servings of crab sticks and I love the japanese mayo. We also tried the best seller's platter with 21 sticks. There's my favorite; poteto maki! 10084️ Majority of the yakitori is meat and there's this chicken part too. There's also 3 chunks of corn which you can ask to be shredded. I love how the meat is seasoned well and has veggies too which is a good thing. Their japanese rice is love cause you can never go wrong with it! Tempura is very much loved. 8 pieces of regular size shrimps that is golden crispy fried. Perfect! At the end of the meal, you'll fill full but there's always a room for dessert, right? And that's why I redeemed our freebie. Yey!! The coffee jelly is superb! With an ice cream on top and great serving of coffee jelly beneath. This is a great way to cap off an already satisfying meal. I love going to Nanbantei! The price is decent, the meal is great, it's always a haven for me.

First time to try Nanbantei of Tokyo today. I wasn't really sure what was served here until we opened the menu – yakitori.

We ordered two platters, plus additional onigiri and miso soup for whoever wanted.

127842 Best Sellers - Php 995 - 3 sticks each
Aspara Maki, asparagus wrapped with pork
Tebasaki, chicken wings
Pork Garlic Yaki, pork with garlic flavor
Shiso Maki, pork with shiso leaf
Negima, chicken meat and leeks
Corn
Poteto Maki, potato wrapped with bacon

127842 Yakitori Special - Php 895
Tebasaki, chicken wings
Negima, chicken meat and leeks
Tsukune, chicken meat balls
Kawa, chicken skin
Bonjiri, chicken tail
Hatsu, chicken heart
Leba, chicken liver

127833 Yaki Onigiri - Php 85
I ordered the Yaki Onigiri because I've never tried one before and it seemed fun because it was like eating those burnt rice at the bottom of the rice cooker! "Tutong" 128513

I don't eat innards so I didn't get touch them. 128584 The pork garlic yaki tasted like samgyupsal, but they're pretty salty. I liked them in moderation with the yaki onigiri, but on it's own, it's very salty. The chicken wings are pretty hard to eat with just chopsticks, so maybe you can get forks or use your hands 128077🏼 The chicken meat with leeks and the chicken meat balls were pretty good too. The meat balls were saucy. 9786️

Overall, it was a good meal. We were quite full and there were 7 of us in the group. 128077🏼 I was seriously surprised because I didn't expect to be full from just yakitori!

Yakitori is the specialty of the house at Nanbantei. And you can't say no to that. Why? Because they even have a platter of their best sellers that will surely make your heart skip a beat and make you happy. I love the potato covered with bacon, and of course the beef. Most part of the menu are reasonably priced, but beware of the price of their rice. It's not included in the menu so make sure to ask. Their california maki is also good, enough serving for a side dish for 2. And their karage is also great. Just enough spiciness with every bite. On special occasion they offer half off for their cocktail drinks so be sure to check that one out. I gotta say, if you easily crave japanese food that has something to do with yakitori then I would really suggest this place. They'll soon open their newest branch at Alabang Town Center so to my fellow South peeps, let's all rejoice.

Such a clingy week with the lunch buds! Took all morning to decide where to eat but finally settled on Nanbantei since they had the 21 sticks for P995. To see what we ordered, read Carla M's review here 128071🏽
https://looloo.com/r/5f56

We were served crudites that was accompanied by their vegetable sauce. I was used to seeing carrots and cucumbers, but having singkamas was new to me. Yes, i've dined here before but forgot how refreshing the turnip-vegetable dip can be! We had a lot of this while waiting for @kirby but before that @julie was also waiting for me to ask if i would share with the sushi platter. P395 Of course i would! The sushi wasn't too impressive, it was just OK. I think we could do without it next time.

21 sticks did not seem like a lot but when Julie started removing them from the sticks, they were a lot to handle! My favorite was the chicken and the potato wrapped in bacon! I also enjoyed the fried asparagus that when one flew away from the stick i picked it up and popped it into my mouth! We were quite full that we left one ear of corn because we couldn't finish it!

What capped this lunch off was Julie showing us the looloo special of coffee jelly and if we wanted it. I even mentioned that iisa lang ito, but since we were stuffed, sharing the dessert was just right. The coffee jelly complemented the vanilla ice cream as with most japanese restos. It was refreshing too. Starting and ending the meal refreshed is always good.

Impromptu Thanksgiving lunch with my #nobaon lunchbuds, Julie J Kirby G and Yina M! (Missed the rest of #TeamClingy though πŸ™ƒ)

We ordered their Bestseller Platter and Sushi Platter. Yup, we devoured 21 sticks of yakitori and that platter of assorted sushi. Don't judge! πŸ™„

While waiting for our food, they gave us free vegetable sticks for appetizer. I ate most of the carrots while Yina and Julie munched on the jicama. They'll also give you vegetable sauce where you can dip the veggies and yakitori, but I prefer my skewered meats dipped in soy sauce. 128522

The Bestsellers Platter had three sticks each of the following:

128055 Aspara Maki (asparagus wrapped pork)
128020 Tebasaki (chicken wings)
128055 Pork Garlic Yaki (pork with garlic flavor)
128055 Shiso Maki (pork with shiso leaf)
128020 Negima (chicken meat and leeks)
127805 Corn
127840 Potato Maki (potato wrapped with bacon)

I liked the Tebasaki and Negima the most. 128077🏼The Potato Maki was also good but when the food got cold, the potato started to become dry.

I skipped the sushi but the three of them happily obliged to finish the whole platter. 128513

We also claimed the looloo Special freebie. The four of us loved their coffee jelly with vanilla ice cream. My first time to try it and it was so yummy! 128525

Yakiniku!!! I love yakiniku! I loved everything we ordered (beef yakiniku, pork garlic yaki, negima, ebi tempura). Service was good. They were attentive. 128512 we also ordered california maki but i think the price (190) is not worth it. The quality isn't that good. I can only taste the cucumber. I will be back! But only for the yakiniku! 128523

They gave our order to someone else! We were waiting for more than 30 mins and every time we inquire for our orders, they just say they will check the status with the cooks.

We were seated near the grill and we overheard that our order must have been given to someone else.

Taste wise, bleah! I wished we went to Kikufuji instead. Waste of time and money.

We availed of the looloo freebie (coffee jelly with ice cream) but it wasn't enough to cool our heads.

The place is quite small and there are a lot of customers here most of the time. That this place is full of customers is a testament to its food quality. The staff members are accommodating and efficient. Food does not get prepared that fast but not too slow either, just right. The staff members wear quirky attires here, which is actually cute and amusing.

We ordered the beef, pork, aspara and shitake yakiniku. My favorite was the pork yakiniku, which is made of pork belly. It's like liempo on a stick. We ate the yakiniko with the yaki onigiri, which is grilled rice balls. It looks like "suman" but it's plain grilled rice. But if you prefer normal rice then you can just order the gohan although I suggest you try the yaki onigiri. It really goes well with the yakiniku.

Food was pretty good. This restaurant is my boyfriend's favorite. I don't love it as much as he does, but I like it enough to give it 4 stars. I intend to try their other items on the menu.
