Booked Ninong's Hotel because we had a very satisfactory stay during our first visit to Legazpi. Ninong is situated at the heart of Old Albay, just a couple of minutes away from Penaranda Park.

We arrived in Legazpi pretty early so we knew that there will be a high probability that we won't be accommodate right away due to the hotel's high occupancy rate at the time of check-in. After a couple of hours of waiting, with much follow up, we were offered to stay in the Annex of the hotel with the caveat that the Annex won't have access to an elevator. Given that the room was only on the second floor, my friend and I agreed to take the room as we wanted to freshen up and rest after a stressful and tiring flight from Manila.

The room assigned to us was a disappointment. There were mosquitoes in the room when we checked in so we spent our first minutes killing them lest we become mosquito food while we took our afternoon siesta. The bathroom door was made out of aluminum and would not close properly. As it was adjacent to the bed, we had to stick the bathroom mat in between door and the floor just so it would not budge. The shower head was cracked so the rainfall effect actually felt more like a torrential downpour in some areas and scattered rainshower in other areas.

While we were warned about the absence of an elevator in the Annex building, we were not warned that the room we will be occupying will be right above the hotel’s karaoke bar. It was a good thing that an acoustic band was playing that night, else, I would’ve gone amok. Atleast their breakfast was a vast improvement from last year.

While the hotel staff was generally friendly and accommodating, the front desk staff needs a customer service overhaul. We check out early in the morning and the staff who greeted us (she came out from the back office after several knocks on the counter table) literally looked like she just got out of bed.
