No. 9 is fairly new in the Cebu food scene. But even if they're new, they've already hit the right spot and have come to be one of the best the island has to offer.

The chef/brother tandem of IƱaki and Pepin Martinez have created such a picturesque happy place for foodies by converting their ancestral home to what is now this beautifully decorated restaurant, with a floor-to-ceiling view of the garden.

No. 9 presents itself as a restaurant serving up modern dishes that still feel like home. They use both modern and traditional techniques when they prepare their food. I would say the food pay homage to the Martinez brothers' Spanish roots, by combining Spanish influences to Asian/Filipino based dishes.

My family and I ordered their three 'big plates' when we went and all the dishes were superb. We ordered their Arroz con Pollo (chicken and pancetta on a plate of wet rice), Fideo Negro (broken noodles, squid, ink, chorizo, aioli), and Pork Belly with wild arugula & salsa verde. THEY WERE ALL SO DELICIOUS, I can't even begin to tell you how good everything was. Everything was really cooked to perfection. I also really liked their No. 9 Iced Tea which had a good hint of orange juice of sorts.

They only have a few items on the menu now, but I hear they're adding more very soon.

Cannot wait to be back!
