Perhaps one of the persistent problems of a corporate drone such as myself is this: where do I eat for lunch? After a decade in the same office building, food selection has been such a bore, notwithstanding the dynamic and ever changing food landscape in Manila. That’s why the opening of the gorgeous Zuellig Building has been such a welcome development: aside from its dazzling façade (the reflective panels change color depending on the sky), it also offers a formidable canteen lineup amid an impressive layout of column-free space with floor-to-ceiling windows.
One of the food choices is Noodles & Co., which offers Chinese and Singaporean cuisine. I got the spareribs rice topping (P150), which includes soup, some vegetables, and condiments. The serving is hefty with rice—I never saw the bottom of my bowl—partly because I got full too quickly and because the dish was seasoned with too much salt and I think, MSG, with little meat to absorb all those flavors. I quit eating it before it broke my heart completely.
I originally ordered the Hainanese Chicken but the attendant told me it sold out pretty quickly, so I guess that’s the thing to order here. I’d probably have that next time; however, there’s Wee Nam Kee in nearby Ayala Triangle Gardens.
