Ogawa's food has greatly improved since my first time eating here.

The tempura prawns were huge and juicy.

Teppanyaki wings are a bit too salty, but still pretty tasty.

Their tonkatsu is pretty good.

Over all, for my second visit here. I had a really happy dinner.

Fresh. Expensive. My family seems to like eating here. The ambiance is very nice. It's like being taken back to the alleyways of Japan. The food was very good. The salads were ok. We had the wakame salad which had different kinds of seaweed. I loved this more than their generic kani salad. We ordered the rib eye which they served at the end of the course. It was very tender and they cooked it just right. The Unagi kabayaki and their sushi was just a bit average. The seafood were fresh indeed. I wouldn't go back here on a whim, I guess only when my family invites. Fresh but just expensive.

Woops! Forgot to take photos for looloo, so pardon the group pic.

Upon entering the resto, you'll instantly feel like you've been transported to Japan. The place is beautifully set up. However, the food fails to impress. Tastewise, it was Japanese fastfood levels for me. The salmon roll was bland and the soft shell crab was tough and chewy. The tempura set only had 2pcs of shrimp + 2pcs camote and the chawanmushi (savoury egg custard dish) that came with it wasn't to my liking.

With so many other good Jap restos out there, this really pales in comparison. Better to get your Japanese fix elsewhere.

I've always wanted to try Ogawa since it has a cool Japanese- inspired interiors and facade.

Last Saturday, my cousin, which happened to be my high school classmate as well, called for a mini reunion. The reason? He's going to work overseas with his gf. 128517 So this is more of a despedida. Haha. We decided to eat at Ogawa since it's just within BGC. We had our reservation at 6pm.

I tried one of their set meals. SM18, I think. It has tonkatsu, tuna and salmon sashimi, garden salad, miso soup, chawan mushi, rice, and dessert. Though I didn't like their tonkatsu, I loved their sashimi. Super fresh!

I also ordered their Jo Sushi (Matsu). It's their version of assorted sushi. This. I. Liked. 128541 One of my friends ordered their Jyu Jyu beef. It's super tender and flavorful.

The staff also offered us to try their beer selection. Free taste at that. But since we were not in the mood to drink something alcoholic, we politely declined. But I had two shots, anyway. 128584 Hehe

Price range - 500-800php per person, depending on the order.

P.S. They have items imported from Japan. 🇯🇵 Also, they sell some sushi per piece, Tokyo-style. And finally, they also have charcoal grilled skewers! 128584

Honestly, I had higher expectations with Ogawa, they did not disappoint but they didn't impress me either. I would say it's a beyond decent japanese restau so it would be a good choice to recommend and dine here when you want to go to a safe jap restau that will serve quality dishes but maybe I was just getting used to so much good jap establishments lately. Have you guys noticed? 127932We're turning japanese128541127932...

Among the stuff we had (see pics) I loved the lapu-lapu in uni sauce the most if it wasn't so salty but My least fave is the yakisoba, it had too much wine or mirin probably. So cloying! The bento set was great though, get it if you're like super hungry & won't order other dishes. My two giant bff guys couldn't finish it haha plus meat was really good too. The sashimi is great too, it's served in a nice temp and really supple. Btw, if you like mackarel sashimi, maybe this one would be a good place to try it since among the others placed I've tried, this one had the least fishy taste, I was never a fan of it so let me know if I'm wrong. Hehe Price wise, it is a good jap restau so expect to shell some moolah, I think our bill was around 7k+ above for all these. Worth it? Sure. Would I go back here? Yes. 128512

Hello manila! I wish the traffic in manila is always like this. This is the only time I can convince my dad to travel from Fairview to BGC. There is no traffic and we got to bgc for less than an hour. How fun would it be if the next president would be able to solve manila carmageddon.128591

So in BGC we decided to try out Ogawa since my dad wants a japanese resto. Ogawa got a very great japanese interior. From the entrance you are welcome by a japanese antique door. Inside you'll feel like you are in Japan. The place is beautifully decorated with japanese paintings and ornaments. The open kitchen right in the middle was also so cool!128526

My order was the Ryu Goku bento set. Actually I've got no idea what is in it because their menu was so plain. Not a single picture so it was very hard to decide. I just asked the waiter what is their bestseller and agreed to try out her suggestion.

I'm happy when my bento set came. It was gorgeous. It was a complete set of miso soup, chawanmushi, salad, fruits, sashimi, gindara, beef teppanyaki, tori chicken and a secondlayer of bento box that has tempura and rice. Wow that was a complete meal! Love every single pieces of it. The sashimi tasted so fresh. The gindara was perfectly cook you can taste the juicyness of the fish. Tori chicken was also equally juicylicious. Even the rice was good! Authentic japanese round rice.

Overall service, ambience, taste were all perfect. So the downside was the price but I kinda expected it. Perfect for a japanese food celebration for special occasion. 128522128076

They have an open kitchen right smack in the center of the resto.. And by open I mean you can literally see them wash, prepare, and cook the dishes! How cool is that??

We ordered the teppan gozen set (it had salmon, rib eye steak, miso soup, salad, few fruits here and there for dessert), california maki, and grilled salmon. The food isn't spectacular, but it'll do. Salmon was nice though; it didn't feel "malansa." But mind you, they came at a high price. All for P2,500. 128557 though I feel we ordered too much.

But I kind of liked the vibe in this place. Plus the service was quite good.

Not worth it. Expensive and hello, what's with the flies??? The menu was B-O-R-I-N-G. I get that they're going for "high-end" but a picture or two won't hurt. Or at the very least have a scrumptuous description of your dishes. One of my pet peeves = boring menus. Food was nothing extraordinary. The only thing we liked was the sashimi and the miso soup. Ebi katsu and the tempura was bland. Katsudon was challenging to bite into. The gindara and unagi is okay but again, nothing extraordinary. Not something I'll go back to especially for that price range. The interior was really nice. It felt like we were in an old Japanese era restaurant. It would be nice if they could do something about those flies though. It's difficult to enjoy a meal when you're also busy swatting flies.

Still on soft opening so as expected there are still some kinks that need to be improved.

We saw a lot of Japanese diners, so must be a good sign.

Ordered their Set Menu: Sukiyaki Udon and Chirashi Set. Their Sukiyaki soup was too sweet! The beef slices though were generous, tender and tasty. Udon was al dente, just right. We liked the Chirashi. I agree their sashimi and sushi were really fresh and good128077🏻.

Unattentive servers, sometimes a bit disoriented. We ordered for a bottle of red wine but most of their more affordable ones were "not available" and tried to upsell us128078🏻. So we didnt order anymore.

Will try their teppanyaki and more sashimi & sushi next time.

The only thing that was good in this restaurant was their fresh sushi. Going in you will feel the interiors were not as beautiful as they promoted saying that this was authentic Japanese decor. I ordered the Kaisen Chirashi Sushi Zen Bento (450 pesos) which was supposed to include an appetizer, salad, steamed chanan mushi, sulmano soup and dessert. The only part of the menu that was able to arrive on time was the actual Chirashi box sushi. Was so disappointed with the service because I asked around 4 different waiters to complete my order but none of the even bothered quickly enough. The rest of my meal came 30 mins later and when I was already done eating. Would never go back to this place again.

Heard my fellow customers complaining also like delayed orders, switched orders, etc. Although they are still on soft opening, they should have these simple things ironed out already.
