A huge sign attracted yours truly to try the Japanese resto - 50%off! So many dishes were half priced (we got three) and the service was light speed fast. The Uni Tempura (P210.00) was surprisingly different but yummy. Tried the Matsusaka sushi (P385 from P770 and we got the female cow A5 since the server revealed it was better). Anago (saltwater eel which costs P325 from P650) together with the Oyako Shake Roll (P240.00) were delectable. Best dish by far was Hotategai (Giant Scallops priced at P425 from P850!). The scallops tasted like uni, melts in your mouth and just makes your day blissful. Overall, definitely worth coming back and yes, this is tops for me which includes Sakura. Have to mention that every staff thanked us before heading out the door. How good was this place? Still thinking about the taste of those humongous scallops on the way out!

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

I’m so thankful that some of my friends decided to stay in Manila last Holy Week so I was able to drag a few friends for a food trip over the weekend. Our plan was to visit four stops in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) but I guess we were no longer used to eating a lot as we just managed for stop by three restaurants.

It was one hot Saturday when M, T and I went to SM Aura. Our plan is to stop by Ramen Nagi first but the line was crazy at 11:30 a.m.! So we decided to just have our names listed for reservation and looked for another restaurant to have a quick meal to appease our grumpy tummies.

We thought of going to Magnum Bar first but the place was packed as well and it was just too hot to wait outside. So we opted to go to the restaurant beside it, Ogetsu Hime.

Ogetsu Hime was about half full so it w asn’t that hard for us to get a table. And since this was our first stop, we opted for only a few dishes: Oyako Shake Roll (PHP240), Rainbow Batera (PHP240), Gyoza (PHP165), Goma Ebi Tempura Roll (PHP205), Enoki Bacon Kushi Yaki (PHP190) and Momo Teri Maki (PHP205).

Given that we only have an hour to eat and rush back to Ramen Nagi, we were in a hurry and Ogetsu Hime did not fail us with its quick service.

First served was my Oyako Shake Roll and it was divine. Thinking that the right and polite way to eat Japanese food is eating it whole, I stuffed the whole maki inside my mouth. And yes, I choked a bit while doing so. Why do makis have to be humongous anyway?

The salmon was fresh and there was a slight tangy taste from the cream cheese. There was also an interesting play of different textures brought by the smooth salmon and the slightly crispy salmon skin. I wasn’t able to taste the avocado and the wasabi mustard that much though.

The Rainbow Batera was indeed colorful. Putting together tuna, salmon, ika, kani, shime saba, ebi flavor and Ogetsu sauces resulted in a delightful sushi roll. Visually appealing and palate approved.

I find Momo Teri Maki quite unique. I never had maki that was served inside an aluminum foil. It was also interesting that it was topped with warm mozzarella cheese and teriyaki sauce. The chicken was tender and juicy and the asparagus and ebiko added a bit of crunch.

M’s Goma Ebi Tempura Roll was quite huge too. Covered in sesame seeds and crispy tempura bits, it was like eating a ebi tempura rice topping.

My favorite though was the Enoki Bacon Kushi Yaki. I just recently discovered my passion for enoki. Wrapping enoki with bacon was just too irresistible. I love the subtle crunch of the enoki and the bacon’s delectable taste added flavor to the dish. Drizzling it with teriyaki sauce gave it an interesting balance of sweet and salty tastes.

The gyoza was your usual kind. It was flavorful and it wasn’t oily so I could say that it was at par with Kichitora.

Overall, it was a pleasant lunch #1 experience and I will definitely be back for their main course dishes.

There were so much chaos going around. Was it maybe it was peak hour (8pm) when we arrived. The airconditioning was down.

What they lack in order, they made-up with quick and friendly service. We we really craving for Uni ( sea urchin) but they ran out of supply that night. They said it was not available due to the previous storm.

The pricing was just fair and not too fancy.

I can't remember the number of times I've been here but when I don't have any restaurants in mind, this is my ultimate go-to.

I'm not so big on teppanyaki (that being one of their bestsellers) but their sushi and sashimi deserve some serious attention and praises! They're always served fresh with a creamy/milky aftertaste plus serving size is always generous for the price! Sulit! This time, I got the Maguro rayu which is basically diced tuna sashimi with a dash of Japanese chili oil and scallions. I also had the Shake Kawa roll which had fried salmon skin with katsuboshi, ebiko and torched mozzarella on top. Both were so good and filling!128525

We also had the Ebi Shitake tempura and their Uni tempura128247 which are both the 128163! I always go back for them! They're super delicious especially when paired with chajan!

The food was ok. The sushi we tried was different. The fried rice was superb. A bit pricey though. With an average spending of 1500 per person, i think i didnt get stuffed that much.

Very good sashimi. Excellent service. Good upscale feel Japanese resto ambience. It has that upscale yet authentic feel. Didn't seem too intimidating. There's a sushi bar, teppanyaki tables which can be shared with other people, and they do the fancy teppanyaki table presentations like flambe style high flames, etc. Actually, their claim on the excellent Matsusaka Japanese Black beef looked pretty awesome outside, but we were pretty full from a late lunch, so we didn't eat that today.

Had the Hamachi (Japanese yellowfin tuna) at half off (seems it's a perpetual half off their more premium sushis). About P425 from P850. Succulent, good flavor and goes well with the sauce and yummy Wasabi. I'm not sure if it's freshly made (the wasabi) kaya masarap, but I loved the wasabi so much in the Japanese soy sauce. 5/5

Uni sashimi. My wife's favorite. Good presentation. This is one of those acquired taste dishes, but when you get addicted to this, WOW! It can be an awesome experience. Orange colored fresh sea urchin that's got a lot of flavor, with an added zest of lemon. Though nothing unique about it. Except the nice form of putting it in sliced cucumber cups. Three cucumber cups of uni sashimi. 4/5

Goma Ebi Tempura Roll which was described as Ebi Tempura rolled in black sesame seed black ebiko, crispy Tempura bits with roasted sesame mayonnaise and light teriyaki sauce. Good flavor, though 4 rolls for P205 is a bit pricey if you're aware that for P200 to P300, you can get 8 pieces at Omakase. But for me and my wife, it was perfectly priced given the quantity. Form was excellent, tasted pretty well, the black sesame and sesame mayo adding the textured taste. Only drawback was that the Tempura bits was not perfectly crunchy. 4/5

Entering the restaurant, their usual boisterous greetings of Irasshaimase! Welcomed us. The service was top of the line, there were sushi chefs, teppanyaki table chefs, waitresses taking your orders, staff bringing water and tea, plus a Japanese senior chef overseeing and sometimes doing work at the sushi bar. Great stuff. They didn't charge service charge so I left a good tip. Service 5/5

Menu flexibility: awesome. They've got traditional sushi, special rolls (like Omakase Makimono), katsu, Tempura, and of course, something we will surely be back for... Steak and foie Gras. The lady beside us at the sushi bar ordered stone grill steak. Along with good looking chirashi don. #SomethingToGoBackFor

Overall I'd rate them a 5 based on what I tasted and what I saw. This doesn't seem cheap, likely they'll hit you an average of P600 or more per head, but we only paid P880 as we ordered sashimi and sushi only.

If my stomach could write a review, it would tell you how happy it is. It is bursting and full. the food here is so good and of terrific quality. The staff are friendly, fast and attentive. My water glass was never empty. Ever. Prices are reasonable for authentic food. Expect to pay around P600 per person. Sit at the teppanyaki tables to be front row to all the action!

Order: chicken teppan P250, prawn teppan (iforget the price), fried rice. The spicy tuna sushi (not roll, 2pcs) was delicious. Huge chunks of tuna!

This is such an underrated restaurant and a pretty good find for us...

Had dinner with two good friends last night over some Japanese food at Ogetsu Hime... It's a tepanyaki style restaurant with regular booths available for seating...

We ordered several dishes to share, staring with the very packed Chirashi... Heaping with cuttlefish, octopus, uni, and several kinds of fish, this dish is really sulit! We also got gyoza, ebi tempura, 2 kinds of their specialty rolls, and their seafood and mixed fried rice... I really enjoyed their spicy roll and their fried rice was pretty good (and heavy)... Their gyoza was just okay tasting...

Our order fed 3 hungry adults and 2 young kids, with some leftover! Not bad right? Plus their prices are very reasonable! Unless you go for their usda prime steaks!128522

That's not a drumstick 128541

Seeing 50% off in a restaurant is quite rare; especially if it's on great finds like gindara! 128031
They also have half price discounts for their beef.

Apart from the super fresh and yummy teriyaki gindara, I got to try their soft-shelled crab maki (tasted great) and shrimp tempura. All worth the price tag! 128522128522128522128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

Rochelle C and I shelled out only Php600 per person for a really delicious and fresh meal!

The US rib eye steak sukiyaki is a must try! A bit pricey for me but it's worth it. Serving size is just right and service is fast as well.

The food was just ok, doesn't meet expectation against the price though. Nothing extra special or different. Had the usual sashimi, salads, tempura and beef. House tea was awful.
