I look forward to lunch at Old Manila! Their set lunch is great! Service is prompt - no long wait! This time though I ordered from the ala carte menu. 1st course was essence of tomato soup... Loved that slightly sour taste! Then i had the grilled prawns cooked beautifully with a side salad! And that bread & butter - loved them! Finally for dessert a heavenly molten lava cake! Looking forward to my next visit with a new set of menu!

Old Manila's Magsaysay Room is a great place for those who wants to just dine or hold business meetings with your VIPs. One table can have 16-seater attendees. Very spacious and offers the privacy that you need. I've liked it on my first visit and still liked it until now. Staff are very accommodating and oh, a manager named Stefano is very friendly and yes, handsome ( that's for the Looloo girls out there ! Haha!)

This is where I usually celebrate my birthday with my family. This time, we went here for my sister's birthday dinner. I love the new interior and I noticed they changed their menu. My bleu cheese sauce is gone but I asked the waiter if he could ask the chef to make one for me and they did. Anyway, I still ordered the same thing. I had Beef Tenderloin with bleu cheese and asparagus. Party in my mouth. I really dont eat red meat that much but Old Manila's steak is one of my exceptions. As for dessert, we had cheesecake. I recommend Wild Rock red wine. I will definitely come back!1108811088110881108811088

Indeed, "old" is the new new. :-) In the case of the recently relaunched Old Manila of the Peninsula Manila, everything felt and tasted "old" and amazing.

We had a three course meal of seared scallops with cauliflower purée and beats, wagyu strip loin with Mediterranean mashed potatoes, and a coconut angel cake with coconut ice cream and pineapple. They gave us a bowl of petit fours just in case we still had space in our tummies.

Every bite from every dish was just as heavenly and decadent at the same time. The flavors went well with their luxurious ambiance of dark wood pieces matched with Paco Guerrero images. Truly an experience worth raving about.

Everything was divine. The prosciutto salad, the truffle froth, the salmon, the scallops, the beef tenderloin - everything was cooked to perfection. It took so long between courses but the wait was well worth it. Everything's expensive but the ingredients justify the prices.

The degustation menu was such a delightful experience. My ribeye steak was like butter under a knife. And the salmon was nomnomnom, as if I could eat it everyday. The duck liver was soft, tasty, and yummy! There's a even a complimentary bread and beef strips. The calamansi sherbet was too sour but it served its purpose well on cleaning the palate. The staff was very attentive so I have no problem with their service. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience.

Old Manila sounds Filipino but to our surprise, it is a European restaurant. (Names can also be deceiving you know?)

We had the Business Lunch Special:
-salad
-truffled mushroom soup
-main course (choice of pan-seared salmon or duck breast)
-coffee/tea
*for only P1,250. (That's what i call value for money) 128077

Angus ribeye: 8.5/10, 300 grams for P2,000.

Overall rating: Pricing is not bad considering it's located inside Manila Peninsula Hotel.

Its strange to say this about a hotel establishment, but the service here was REALLY bad. Took thirty minutes to serve appetizers and two hours to serve our entrees! Their excuse was that because more people came to our table, they waited for them to order so that our entrees all came out together. Nauna pa lumabas yung pagkain nila! The waiters didn't seem very attentive and ignored us when we tried to call them. We ordered the set meal (Php 3k per person) and they forgot to serve our sorbet before the meat course. So we reminded them about it, and they served it before dessert. I'm not even sure we even got to eat the whole set, we were too furious to stick around after dessert.

The food was nothing spectacular. Expensive ingredients, and it had a tendency to be bland.

For a place called Old Manila, they served "European food" at expensive prices. Plus cheap looking interiors and even cheaper music for ambience. Very disappointing from Manila Pen.
