Been coming here since I don't know when. Then I hear it's about to close in July or first week August. Then I realize I haven't done a review. Gosh! So here it goes:
You gotta try the Char Kway Teow, Char Hor Fun, Satay, Chicken Curry, Hainanese Chicken Rice steamed (I like the sauces here better than Tao Yuan), Squid with Celery, Chendol, ice kachang, etc. Seriously, try it before it closes!

Old Penang is one of my favorite restaurants in Resorts World. It offers authentic Malaysian, Singaporean and other Asian Cuisines.

I tried their Five Spices Meat Rolls, Beef Nasi Lemak Special and Yin Yong Dry Char Hor Fun. Their food are really flavorful and tasty especially the Five Spices Meat Rolls which is like a big version of spring rolls. Their beef Nasi Lemak comes with Coconut Rice with Beef Rendang plus anchovies and egg. The Nasi Lemak will not be complete without its Sambal Chili. For their Ying Yong Dry Char Hor Fun noodles, it is made from flat rice noodles and it is full of several ingredients like prawn, fish cakes, sliced pork, Bean sprout, egg and other vegetabeles.

I like this resto although it is kinda pricey here.

Can't wait for my next Visit!

I was craving for Nasi Lemak for so many months already so I was very delighted when I found it on their menu.

Sadly, my craving was never satisified. Their curry does not taste authentic, or at least taste good in a Filipino way. The anchovies are also numbered. Dilis lang tinipid pa nila! The other side dishes are very little too. Their Hainanese Chicken Rice is not very remarkable and kind of bland. Needless to say, I was very disapponted.

The vibe of the place is very hawker-ish, but the prices of the dishes are around Php 300 and above. I feel like I was just helping them pay for their rent. Sad.

Their laksa is good! Also ordered their chicken with plum sauce (i think it's kinda fake plum tho), penang char (forgot the name of it but it's noodles with brown sauce, it also has a picture on the menu), and teh tarik which i loved cause it tasted authentic!

The best and most authentic Malaysian food in Manila. Ordered the Famous Penang Char Kway Teow, Famous Singapore Laksa, Famous Penang Prawn Noodles and the Hainanese Chicken Rice. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Loved all the food we ordered 128523128523

Somehow a bit like North Park. But there are a few Indian dishes as well.

We ordered Wanton Soup, Sizzling Black Pepper Beef and Yangchow fried rice.

Nothing really special except for the Yangchow. I liked how it was fried to the point that it got a little crispy. Haha.

Anyway, not bad, but I can't really say it's something i'd recommend or eat at more than once. Just go for North Park.

Their char kuey teow and chicken satay deserve four stars, but their laksa deserves two.

The laksa was watered down, and the noodles didn't really have any flavor. It was disappointing.

We came back here for the satay and char kuey teow. Flavors were close to those we've had in si singapore and malaysia.

Overall, it was an "okay" experience.

We ate here at random. Probably the worst decision weve made ever, with regards to random resto choices.

I would recommend this to people with a tummy that is ready for action. Also if you're into Indian food or maybe youre just in for an adventure.128077

However, if you're more of the i-eat-and-savor-every-bite-because-i-enjoy-eating kind of person, then maybe this is not the restaurant for you.:)

Don't know why it opened here in RW. It should open as a stall in a cafeteria(my teammate's words not mine) food sucked a lot. Price is too pricey! That's why there are only 2-3 out o 15 tables occupied :\

Will certainly not come back here again!!!

Ever since RW opened to the public, this has been our go to restaurant. The flavors are fantastic here, and i'm a big sucker for asian cuisine and I love to try out different flavors and spices. Mostly Malaysian & Singaporean fare can be found in Old Penang. We had the beef and chicken satay, roti canai with curry sauce and nasi lemak with beef rendang option. The roti was lovely but the sauce was not that tasty, it lacked some "linamnam" factor. The satay was superb, it could even stand out on its own even without the sauce, although the sauce was really good too. The nasi lemak had an intricate medley of flavors that worked well for the whole dish. The curry flavor of the beef mixed with some sweet & salty dilis mixed with mild chili paste like bagoong mixed with cucumber mixed with the boiled egg and rice is what makes every bite of a nasi lemak. Absolute winner of a dinner!

I'd give their version of Hainanese Chicken Rice 2.5 stars out 5, but their service is excellent which makes up for it in a way.

I liked their laksa and sweet and sour pork. Plus the wifi 128540 a lot of singaporeans eat there, which means it tastes like (their) home. It's true for the laksa.. It reminded me of SG.. Makatagaktak pawis! 128513

Still looking for the best satay and peanut sauce - tender meat, thick and rough consistency that doesn't taste like peanut butter - in Manila. This one has too much sweet curry flavor, typical of how they cook satay here. Peanut sauce was just okay.

I enjoyed their char koay teow though because it's oily and has enough shrimp in it.
