The foie gras is to die for!! We couldn't choose between the mango sauce and red wine sauce, so the waiter suggested to put the two sauces on the side, so we can try both. It was really good, especially with the salad on the side.

They're having a promo of buy 1 take 1 US Ribeye steak. We availed the promo. Together with our steak, I got the mashed potato and my friend got the buttered vegetables. I had the steak in medium well. It was cooked okay.

I was halfway through my steak when I started eating the side dish of corn, carrots and peas that originally came with the steak, and I found a thick, around one inch size of hair on my food. I wasn't too interested with the side dish because it wasn't even cooked very well-- It's really mushy and oily-- so I didn't mind the hair on my dish at first. The waiter came back to refill our glasses, then this is the time I was able to point it out -- "sir, there's hair on my food". The waiter, I think, panicked and walked away. From the reflection of the glass infront of me, I saw him talking to the other waiter and then he came back asking to pull out my food and have it replaced. I said "no need, I'm not interested with the vegetables anyway. Also, I'm more than halfway through my steak". Then he walked away.

I didn't show my pissed off face, instead I keep calm and enjoyed the rest of my food...with the hair. I wasn't too happy with what I saw, but I'm too busy talking to my client that I didn't want this business meeting to end up awkwardly.

But here's my thoughts on what just happened:
1. The first time I complained about the hair on my food, the waiter didn't say anything, he walked away. I would appreciate it if he had taken my plate right away because it was not something he should question. He indeed saw that strand of hair on my food and it was obvious, MY FOOD HAD HAIR. It was YUCK.

2. He had to consult someone else before offering to replace my food. Isn't it given that they should really replace my food because the quality, in terms of sanitary reasons, did not pass their standards? Olio is not a cheap place and their meals are nowhere near cheap priced or affordable. the best service is expected.

3. Like what I said, I told him to not bother replacing my food for I am not even interested in eating any of the side dish anyway. He did not insist. Instead, he walked away.

4. Here's the best part-- NO APOLOGY, WHATSOEVER.

Before leaving, I passed by these two waiters going to and from the comfort room. Heard nothing from them. No apology, no thank you, not even a goodbye even after I left.

Btw, their comfort room looked very cheap and it stinks. They should really consider renovating it. It's way off compared to the ambiance and the wuality of their food:)

Overall, it was a good experience and I liked their food. This place was suggested to me by my boss snd I was happy I got to try it. I just hope next time, no more extra side dish, if you know what I mean 128539

This multi awarded fine dinning restaurant in Cebu is best knowm for its steak, I had rib eye cooked medium. It was tender, well seasoned and tasty. Their wagyu steak was served in strips with top and side seared, you have to cook it in a hot lava stone. The wagyu steak melts in your mouth.
The place is properly lighted for dinner.
Staff are friendly, courteous and well groomed. We had spanish chorizo, gambas and scallops gratin for starter.

I ordered the Olio's best again (890) Japanese scallop on portobello mushroom , jamon Serrano , shave Parmesan flakes & balsamic glaze is simply food porn & on the side ... Foie gras on brioche topped with grapes & quail egg

Truffle mushroom soup(150) is creamy , thick & delicious ... perfectly seasoned

USDA Prime angus beef (790) is thick ,juicy ... Tender pink meaty goodness & at its price is great value for money

Homemade creamy rich mash potato comes with the steak

Pinenuts encrusted Chilean seabass (1250) gnocchi nguyeye blanc sauce ... Nutty & lightly crisp, very flavory meat topped on potato pasta..a little too salty for my taste ...

For dessert :

Millefeuilles with vanilla cream and strawberry campote topped with goat cheese Ice cream is an ingenious play of texture on one single plate... crisp flaky puffy pastry, sweet vanilla cream, tangy strawberry ... ending with the lightly salted sweet goat cheese ice cream is simply magnificent beyond words

Chocolate soufflé is moist & delicious ... I like taking pic while pouring the warm chocolate on topped ... I clicked more than I eat ... Haha

And a free flowing of more glasses of cosmopolitan ... Cheers for the weekend

A chic Italian place where we had our meeting last night ... Love the minimalist non asymmetric design to the details , sculptural interior that exudes class & refine taste. This resto has been consistently voted as the best restaurant in Cebu by Philippine tatler

The strategically minimal but creative christmas decors are well thought of... Non overpowering but still has the touch of the approaching festivities

I particularly like the glass wash basin located above the bar counter & stairs by the 2nd floor... U step on a pedal for water to flow out from 2 chrome pipes to serve as faucet, catches by the glass panel & still can see the activity below... Cool idea.

For the food... I hope they hv a branch here in Manila... Food quality can even surpass the best we hv the the metro, yet price here is very affordable .

We start with some appetizers ...
the olio's best(890) .. Foie gras top on brioche topped with grapes & quail egg & Japanese scallop on portobello mushroom, jamon Serrano , Parmesan flakes & balsamic glazed

Oyster Rockefeller .. Burst of fresh ocean sweetness with loads of cheesy goo... Love that I can taste the spinach in the dish

Chilean seabass with black truffle jus(1250) melt in ur mouth tender seabass with the smell & truffle taste... This dish is sure a winner

Truffle pasta (720) was simply divine... Al dente spaghettini , appropriate serving size & amazing black truffle sauce , very comparable to the best in Manila
