I entered 2019 with nothing but a good mood and a good bowl of food. There was a concert in BGC that I attended, so when the artists finished performing, I knew it was my time to shine. I decided to shine in OOMA on High Street because it was the first open place that we stumbled upon. My food pick was as spontaneous as my restaurant pick (maybe a little bit more spontaneous). I decided, screw this, it's New Year, and went for Truffle Muffle Fuffle Duffle Soup.

Oh wait, it wasn't that one. It was actually Unagi Truffle Mushroom Hot Soba (P495). On the picture in the menu it looked like something for sharing but I knew it wasn't. When they served my bowl, I was a bit shocked. The serving size was almost as big as boat noodles.

I think my pick was a big mistake because I realised I'm not a fan of truffle oil. It's my 2nd time to try it. Its smell was super strong. It drilled my nostrils like your neighbour who doesn't let you sleep. The taste was actually better but it still wasn't good enough. Guys, I realise that the noodles may actually be of good quality but I think I'll leave truffles for piggies, 2019 is their year anyway.

The dessert was really nice. Caramelized Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream has the crust similar to the crust you can find in Creme Brûlée. The banana was not very ripe (or sweet) but I have a big bias towards them so it's okay. The ice cream was fluffy, white chocolate was an interesting touch, which changed the texture a bit.

Overall, I think my Soba was freaking overpriced. I was still hungry after eating it. I wouldn't mind going here again to try something else (yes, I snitched something from my nobya's side of the table). I should be thankful they were still open at 1 AM on January 1.

P.S. Don't forget to ask for tea. It's not amazing but good enough.

Let’s make it short and fast....128522

OOMA features their Crowd Favorites in one big surprise! Aburi Mixers that are definitely worth catching! Sorry I won’t be able to introduce the complete cast of this great-tasting ensemble, since it was imperative for these goodies to go straight into my tummy!

If you’re in the mood for a day’s dose of Kimchi Prawn & Enoki, Salmon Skin, Steak Aburi & Spicy Tuna...then what are you waiting for? Go to your nearest OOMA Branch! ( Though BGC was not the nearest for me, we’d go the extra mile for a great lifestyle, hehehe )

I got the set that features 4 Crowd Favorites in 12 heavenly bites! Yumyumyumyumyum 12851510084100841008410084128077🏻 There are more Aburi Mixer Sets to indulge upon! So don’t be the last to know! 12851510084128077🏻127845127857

Team Lunch Out!

I ordered their Oyako Don- sous vide chicken, fresh mushrooms, onion, fresh egg, crispy chicken skin, house tare.
▶️ I was a bit disappointed. , I tasted mostly mushrooms (where's the chicken?). The chicken skin for me was also a bit weird.

For dessert, we ordered their caramelized banana with vanilla ice cream
▶️ this was okay. Nothing special. i like Pho Hoa's banana fritters more 9996🏻

and their green tea ice cream
▶️ This was so good. It was not so sweet and it was perfect way to end our lunch

It was a very busy day. The place was full and it took awhile before they served our desserts.

"Ooma-Gosh" that is my reaction the 1st time I tried it here. Since then I keep on coming back over and over. What keeps me coming back is their food specially the Tuna Tataki(198) and Gyudon(299) . I love how they cook their food, not too typical but still with a japanese touch. We had lunch out with swedish collegues and they find their food very appetizing. They said that they hope Ooma is on Sweden as well.So if you have not tried it, please do. 128522128522

Ooma has definitely become my favorite Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, I had to visit the most accessible one near me which is BGC. So I really hope Makati CBD branch opens soon.

Last Monday there's a promo for Moment 5 holders and that's 6 pieces of Salmon Maki with extra 3 more for the same price. So basically my Php 255 has 9 good quality pieces of salmon maki. And they all tasted so good! The maki on top with this special spicy dressing and brushed off with a little kikoman is such a delight. I love it, really. And it's sulit for that price.

We also had their tori karage, which is surprisingly different in presentation but tastes good. Am not sure what it's actually covered with but that covering gives it a challenge to find the meat and it kind hurts in the long run. I like the thick teriyaki like cause it's covered with. Really tasty. And their egg rice is not that bad for Php 99. It can be shared by two person already. It has this savory taste that compliments well with the semi sweet tori karage.

And I don't think there's anything left to say about their chocolate lava cake which is divine 10084️ This has become my sister's favorite dessert. It's soft and moist. Once you cracked it at the middle, the molten choco just oozes its way with vanilla ice cream on top. I really love this!!! I can consume one without any worry. Haha.

For me the best thing about Ooma is their quality food for a good price. You can be full without hurting your wallet. Plus, the staffs are nice here except some few girl staffs who are a little distracted and seems to goof around but the rest are accommodating and very swift on their service. I swear, I'd be there when they open in Greenbelt or Salcedo. I just can't wait!

Sorry for the haphazard photos. My sister was HANGRY na daw so minadali ko lang talaga 128517

I got there the maki were already there. Apparently they were both spicy tuna but the one with the orangey sauce, the taller of the two was the spicier one. Both very good!!!

I'm allergic to crustaceans so sister ko lang nagomnomnomnom nung tempura. She looked happy so I take it it was delish 128516

The main event though was the big a$$ platter of meat!!! I know it's Ooma's star dish, and I don't need to tell you what it is. Just know that it was UHMAYZING and heady and earthy and sexy. Don't miss out!

Service is incomparable 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻

Advance ordered a bunch of random makis while we were waiting outside - it took us over an hour and a half just to be seated! Didn’t exactly help that we were a group of 16 so we really had to wait for a whole side to clear. They didn’t accept reservations and I could understand why - this restaurant is ALWAYS packed! We went here on a Wednesday night and the people just kept on coming! My friends and I were even talking about how this must be a perfect date place because most of their customers were couples on a date night.

Anyway, just as we were seated, the waiter immediately asked us if there was anything else we wanted. So happy because we were starving!!! One of their best sellers was apparently the Hanger steak so we made sure to order that. I found the taste of the truffle to be a little strong but I got used to it after a few more bites. Had a hard time figuring out which maki flavors we liked since we literally ordered 10 kinds but I think I loved the soft shell crab the most 128523 Their rice were on the house so we just ordered so many tempura! We got their salmon tataki and tuna tataki which both tasted good. Their salmon sashimi however was a let down, we ordered twice just to make sure - it didn’t taste fresh! We tried a bottle of sake too (which I thought was better than soju!)

Good value for money I think! Our bill was just a little over 9k and we were a big group 9786

So upon joining this app today, figured I’d try out some of the places that were posted. This place had high remarks so I took a stroll to have dinner there. My 4 items included the tempura shrimp which your given 7 large pieces. The miso soup, one coke and the steak! The best part of the meal was the miso soup in MY opinion, the steak was not warm nor hot. As if it sat for a while before being delivered or something. Chill atmosphere but extremely packed and busy while it took me 20 minutes to get a seat. I’ll go back in due time but I’ll stay away from the steak plate. Ahh total

Bill came to 1350p or so. Plus 93p service charge.

When you want Japanese food and you’re willing to spend a little more than the usual, OOMA is the place. My last visit wasn’t that great but this was surprisingly better. Oomayziingg!!! 🤗

One Friday, my aunt and I had lunch here. We arrived before 12nn (around 1130?), just the perfect time to go because after 12nn, you’ll have to wait for a table (especially on a week day).

We ordered the following:

KANI SALAD (295php): 127775127775127775127775
O-GYOZA (245php) 127775127775127775
SALMON BELLY MAKI (245php): 127775127775127775
SALMON SKIN ABURI MAKI (275php): 127775127775127775
HANGER STEAK (495php): 127775127775127775127775127775

We enjoyed the yummy and tender hanger steak the most. Omg talaga!!!! And the surprisingly good kani salad. 128525128525128525 The salmon belly (no rice) was also yummy but bitin. Perfect for people avoiding rice. 128521 I wasn’t able to try the aburi maki anymore but my aunt like it.

SERVICE was better now. It wasn’t that hard getting the servers attention. Still slow but tolerable. 128077🏼

FINALLY!!! I've been wanting to try this Japanese restaurant for a while cause I've heard a lot about it. And it's true what they say. This restaurant is a bomb! On a Friday evening, it is quite jammed with long lines on the waiting and just a lot of customers. Luckily we were able to sit inside. The staffs are attentive and took our order immediately.

We had the salmon aburi which is divine!!! I love the cheese torched on top, and the raw salmon below it. I just love everything going on in that one serving. Plus brush for your kikoman? One of the most brilliant thing ever!! Their tempura is also delightful. Crunchy on the outside with just equal ratio of breading to shrimp. Quite fascinated with the shrimp head. Hahaha. The mayo is perfect. Their lava cake is loved!! Chocolate flowing right the moment you cut through the middle. It's almost like Chili's but nothing too sweet. It'e very well paired with that vanilla ice cream. Presentation is good too!!!

Staffs are attentive and thought it can be loud, quite tolerable. I saw some rice bowls being served and they are huge. I am definitely coming back. And I also secretly wish that a Makati branch will be opened soon. Haha.

I super duper loved their food!
And the service is great too!
I can say it's worth all the calories 128518 and deserving of all the good reviews.
My friend and I shared :
Soft Shell Crab Maki, P295 . One of their bestsellers and understandably so!
Scallops and Tuna Maki, P295 . Also one of their bestsellers daw. It is good too but I prefer the one with soft shell crab more.
Tori Kara-age, P255. We wanted a chicken dish so chose this over their chicken teriyaki. Buti nalang! Haha! Good job on our server for recommending this too.
Total bill P920. We are very happy and we are planning our next food trip to Ooma soon!

This is not my first time at Ooma. I have been to their Megamall Branch countless times. This, however is my first time at the BGC Branch.

News broke out that they are selling one of their bestsellers for Php 55. I dont wanna pass on a good deal hence i decided to have lunch at Ooma.

| Buta Kakuni Katsudon (Php 299). Breaded slow roasted pork belly, onion, egg, carrot, pickled onion, nori and house tare.

I wasn’t too crazy about the katsudon. Is there such a thing as too much sauce? The soy sauce concoction is way too sweet and it drowned the rice underneath #MalunodKaSaToyo. The katsudon got a lil mushy due to the abundance of sauce. And the pork belly x breading ratio is off. The breading is too thick while the sliced meat is paper thin. Php 299 for a bowl of mushy katsudon, highway robbery!

| California Taco Maki (Php 145). Open-faced temaki wrap, kani stock, aligue mayo, herb aioli and mango pico. Thank god for the maki! Lunch would have been a disaster if not for these babies.

Now here’s the fun part...let us talk about the service.

Have you noticed the common denominator with popular restaurants? The staff often sports the “too cool for school vibe”. The guys have the cool hairstyle and has ink. The chicks often wears glasses (the hipster kind) and has a strong “kilay” and “lipstick” game.

Back to the service. I asked for my bill and i wait time is not that long. I got my change in a matter of minutes. Note that the staff who processed my bill is a chick with short hair, wears glasses, sports a nude matte lip and reeks of hipster from head to toe.

As soon as she handed the thingy, i noticed that the receipt is missing (I know for a fact that the establishment is required to provide a receipt) and the change is incomplete. I called the hipsters attention to rectify the issue. It was resolved in a matter of minutes. What i ticked me off is the saying sorry part. I can tell that she wasn’t sincere when she blurted out the five letter word. She said sorry and turned away. Really???? What in the bloody hell is that? Am i supposed to accept the half-ass apology? As much as i want to speak my mind, time is of the essence and i have to get back to work in a jiffy.

I worked with customer service for a long time and the actions of the server is unacceptable. Shortchanging a customer and failure to provide a receipt is a No-No. Yes, it was resolved but the lack of engagement from the staff is not something i cant easily shrug off. I paid for the mushy x OA sa sauce katsudon and this is what i get. A half-ass apology for not doing your job right and wasting my time?

Get your act together, Ooma. There is no shortage of Japanese joints in the Metro, i am sure diners can find one with better service.

Happy 5th Birthday again, The Moment Group! 128571

Yesterday, October 17, 2017 was the second day of the group’s series of promos, and consequently it’s for one of my favorite Japanese restaurants! So I didn’t pass up the chance and aligned my work itinerary to be in BGC. 1285699996🏼

There was not a long queue either, so lucky me! I was seated right away, and I even requested for a table outside because I wanted natural light. 128568

The limit for the anniversary promo is again two, so I went ahead and ordered two just for me. I just had a bottomless iced tea with it. Thankfully I did because although I was seated immediately, the wait for the food was quite long. But it was definitely worth it! 128571

The open faced makis were so plump and generously portioned. Each piece was big, I struggled to use chopsticks. Of course as I was having difficulty doing that, that was when one of the waitresses approached me and told me, “use your hand ma’am. The way you’ll eat a soft taco!” 128569 Ganun pala yun! It made the experience a lot better 9996🏼

Staff here is impeccably nice! I commend them for that, and their smiles are consistently infectious. They have a couple of servers that were Bisaya too, and I happy conversed with them in their language. 128570

I had a lot of fun and I know that the festivities shall continue for this consistently amazing group of restaurants! Congratulations again on your five years, the Moment Group! Cheers! 128571

Very popular modern Japanese resto. Has good selection of traditional sushi and others with a modern twist. The chicken kara-age may not look like the traditional fare but it is quite good. The scallops maki and salmon maki were also delicious. A dish is around P200 but worth it as it is good for two. Seating can be a problem. Noise levels too but if you keep good company, it all turns out well.
