Unagi Truffle Mushroom Hot Soba (unagi tempura, Japanese mushrooms, truffle oil, & soba broth):

Scent of the broth was easily noticeable and strong. After tasting it, I was happy but I feel the scent might not be for everyone. Quantity of the entire bowl was very satisfying and the soba in hot soba broth was a nice and new experience for me.

Unagi Maki (broiled freshwater eel, cream cheese, fried shallots, toasted rice):

I'm a big fan of eel and this pleased me so much, especially the fragrant toasted rice and smooth cream cheese. I'll give this an all caps: YES!

Scallop & Tuna Aburi Maki (torched scallop, tuna, cucumber, sesame seeds, nori crumbs, scallions, teriyaki sauce, spicy mayo, kimchi aioli):

So much was going on in every bite and the spiciness picked up its pace as early as the first serving! The mix was impressive!

Third time in this branch since they opened. I frequent the one in Rockwell.

Everything was good, as usual. Tried something new during this visit: ebi and kani aburi maki (last photo).

My dad wanted to try something new so my sisters said, let’s go to OOMA 128514 It’s been here for a while but my dad rarely tries new restaurants 128517

My favorite here are their ABURI MAKI, specially the salmon skin one. Their HANGER STEAK is good for any meat lover out there, or cheese lover, or truffle lover. The truffle hints on this one is quite amazing. Since the hanger steak is a HOT PLATE dish, it comes with UNLIMITED RICE for everyone on the table.

We also got their TORI KARAAGE but I might not order it again next time because I found the embellishment too large. Their spin on karaage is having crispy thin wanton strips around like a ball. I like my karaage bite size.

The UNI UDON is also for truffle and sea urchin lovers! It might feel like a carbonara but it has more flavor and punch.

Ooma’s bold new Japanese is a revolutionary concept that continues to gain supporters. I myself is a fan of their modern take on most of the customary Japanese staples. On a rainy night, Mia and I visited this branch and had a filling and satisfying dinner.

The service to start was impeccable. This was despite a rather busy evening for them. Our server attended to all our needs swiftly and our orders arrived earlier than expected.

We both tried dishes that we both haven’t tasted at Ooma. For sushi, the Prawn and Enoki Aburi Maki faired better than our usual order of Ebi Tempura Maki. I enjoyed its additional kimchi ingredient, creating a spicier and tangy finish.

For our mains, Mia had rich Tori Udon, while I had their newest offering of delicious Salmon Aburi & Seared Tuna Donburi. The former was good but too much for one person to finish. My order, on the other hand, was just right for a solo diner. I was happy with its generous portions of fresh raw fish in a bed of delicious concocted fried rice.

If Japanese is one of your favorite cuisines, Ooma is a must-try destination for you!

Do you give restaurants a second chance? I've met people (and I have friends) who had a "not so good experience" with some restaurants and never came back.

Are you more likely to give a cheaper restaurant the benefit of the doubt and expect more from mid- high end places? Are we missing out by not giving these restaurants a second chance?

I did a review about my Ooma BGC experience a few months ago and now I went to a different Ooma located in Greenbelt.

▶️ Hanger Steak P498- I forgot when was the last time I tried this dish. I've been hearing a lot of good feedback about this dish and decided to order it. This is now my favorite Ooma dish!! The mushrooms, truffle oil, sweet potato mash, ponzu butter, cripsy baby potato chips blended well with the sous vide hanger steak. Everything was perfect!
▶️ House Chahan P99- this japanese rice is a winner! It has mixed vegetables and egg. I like it because its not too salty and it was balanced, cooked well and perfect for my hanger steak
▶️ Yuzu cheesecake ice cream P148- don't expect it to be plated/ any fancy decoration. It's a simple dessert in a cup and it was so good. It was not too sweet and it was just the right size. They also have a Lychee Sake flavor.

My friend ordered their Salmon Aburi and Spicy Tuna. It was good as well 128513

It was worth every penny. The price of their food is just right because of the quality and the experience.

Great food, Great staff, Great service. Kudos to Alton!

So, my question which restaurant have you gone that you didn't love initially, but went back and it was great?

Finally tried ooma! I was always hesitant about it cos I felt it would be very similar to Sensei. Well, I was kinda right 128513 aside from the cute interiors and ridiculously long line outside, ooma is like Sensei's millennial little brother.
Had a dinner date with my girlfriends and we were all coming from different places. It being a rainy Friday night, traffic was horrible even inside Makati. Luckily, nag martyr Yung friend ko and sat it out from 6PM! My other friend arrived at 630 and we got there at 730, gulp! They've had a bunch of appetizers already when we arrived 128517
Got the famous Hanger Steak, tempura, a couple of rolls and chahan. Service was surprisingly very fast despite the full house that night. Shout-out to our server Dione who was super attentive, funny and made sure we had everything we need or want.
Food itself was pretty good and prices weren't bad as well, now I understand why people line up 128077🏻
