I definitely understand the hype!

Food is delicious here. And the prirce is just right! You can get a mound full of tender, juicy, steak for 500PHP. Wow. I especially loved the garlic chips and roasted mushrooms.

They say the Salmon Skin Aburi Maki is a must, but for me the Scallop and Tuna Aburi Maki is better. Not saying the Salmons Skin was bad (it was really good), just saying that the Scallol and Tuna was amazing!

Ebi and Kani Aburi Maki was good too.

Oh, and I just tastes the best Chicken Teriyaki I have ever had.

We came from a working afternoon at Starbucks and was deciding where to have dinner. My friend wanted to go with Thai food while I crave for something Japanese. I remembered trying Ooma the first time and asked him if he has tried it and since he has not tried it, we ended up goimg to the Fashion Hall area.

It was just around 5:30 in the afternoon so we were pleasantly surprised that there is no queue. Usually, you would have to wait for about 15 minutes to half an hour before you can dine in. So as if the odds were at our avor, we went in and indulged ourselves to some taste buds delight. 128523

We’ve asked what does OOMA means and was told that “OOMA” is a play on the Japanese word ‘umai’ which translates to ‘good’.. (not the “umay” you have in mind my friend!! Haha! 128514128516

Here’s the list of what we tried for dinner:

127805CORN KAKI-AGE/P275.00
128204Oyster dip, Japanese corn, Nori salt
128077Good apetizer

128020CHICKEN TERIYAKI/P295.00
128204Fresh mesclun greens, grilled chicken thigh, cherry tomato, pickled carrots, red radish, Sesame seeds and Miso vinaigrette dressing
128077good to have if you are after healthier options

128020OYAKO DON/P289.00
128204Smoked sous-vide chicken, fresh mushroom, onion, fresh egg, crispy chicken skin and house tare
128078 rice was a bit of disappointment as it was not an authentic Japanese rice

128031 SALMON SKIN ABURI MAKI/P275.00 (6 pcs.)
128204Torched salmon, crispy salmon skin, asparagus. Cream cheese, Wasabi aioli and Teriyaki sauce
128077Good. It was my first time to try this kind of maki and it did not disappoint! Hindi siya malansa! 9786

127807 KANI SALAD/P295.00 (For Sharing)
128204mesclun greens, shrimp, carrots, pickled vegetables. Mango pico, Aligue mayo, and Yakinu Sauce
128077 Good for two

It was indeed bold flavors built together to create something familiar and comforting, with new tastes based on the modern day palate. A real joy in eating! 128536128139

In all fairness, they took “good” seriously as they put much thought and passion into each dish. ✔

Ooma's Salmon Skin Aburi Maki is 100841008410084️. Every bite of the Salmon Skin Aburi Maki is a mouthful of flavorful crisp and chewiness rolled into one. I can't wait to come back and try other maki choices and their agedashi tofu <insert dreamy face here>. 128523128523128523

Ooma never fails to delight our hungry palates! The winner for the night was the MAGURO TACO-MAKI, superbly fresh and the flavors just burst in that mouthful. Of course, the ANAGO TRUFFLE SOBA did not disappoint. My boyfriend ordered his usual HANGER STEAK, which he described as one of the most tender and juicy steaks he's ever had. This place is an epitome of culinary creativity. 128076🏻

IF ITS ABOUT MAKI THEN GO TO OOMA

If you love rice then ooma is the place to go!
Though the price may not be too affordable, it is worth it. I loved the scallop and tuna aburi maki we tried. The hanger steak is also great!! We also ordered some rice (dude we cant help ourselves rice rice baby tenenentenenentenenenten)

The atmosphere is also pretty relaxing because the ambience is japanese and the interior is fitting. Would recommend to grab your friends 2-3 so you can taste most of the dishes and divide the price within yourselves (tip to lessen expenses and maximize the food trip)

I would love to go back again and try more of their makis 128557128557128557 i swear they have lots of selection for the maki. MAKI LOVERS UNITE

PS: They also have an ongoing promo i think when you post a picture of their aburi maki, tag 2 friends in instagram, follow their IG acct, you will get a chance to win a free aburi maki on your next visit!! Go go go guys

I wanted to love this place but found I could only like it.
The service was good.
The ambience was good. .
The food was good. But it wasn't great. I was hoping for great.
I like fusion dishes. But I feel it has to capture the original experience while adding something new. Another resto's crispy dinuguan captures, I think, how fusion should work.
I ordered three dishes here: salmon belly maki, soft shell crab taco-maki, and anago truffle mushroom hot soba.
Each one delighted me initially. Then didn't after a few bites. The flavors were too strong to my taste. I like subtlety. I like strong flavors. But I don't enjoy it when one overwhelms another. I couldn't taste crab. I barely tasted salmon and anago.
The flavors were great and new. The mushrooms in the soup had a stronger tangy flavor than most. The taco maki was a unique experience that had a nice scent to it as I ate it. Toasted/barbecued aroma that improved the experience. But the flavors I wanted to taste, the reasons I ordered each dish, did not rise up.
It reminds me of that one episode of master chef that was for kids and one kid put beautiful scallops in a spaghetti and meatball dish. It likely tasted good. But...Something, the essential, was wasted.

We had the unagi maki, salmon aburi maki and ebi tempura maki. I wasn't expecting to absolutely love the eel maki--it was flavorful and smoked to perfection.

The salmon aburi and ebi tempura variants were really good as well. They had an added "crunch" factor to them, because of cucumber for the former and tempura for the latter.

We also had black sesame ice cream, which was great. It wasn't too sweet, had real black sesame (and what I think was malt topping), and tasted great. The black sesame flavor seemed pretty subtle but it worked.

My brother had gyudon, but I didn't really try it. Haha!

Would definitely go back for their unagi maki 128525 their ice cream variants seem promising as well.

I lovelovelove Japanese food so I've been wanting to try Ooma out for a long time now. Finally got to try it one night, when a friend and I had a fun, catch-up dinner here. So glad this restaurant lived up to its hype 128077🏼

Waiting time was surprisingly not that long; we were seated even before we got to look at the menu. We ordered the Salmon Skin Aburi Maki, Chicken Teriyaki, and one other maki variant whose name I unfortunately can't remember (yes, the food was THAT good 128514).

Our orders were served in a very artistic, instagram-worthy way so I super enjoyed taking pictures like a true foodie. Once that's over, I took my first gratifying mouthful of salmon skin maki... and I wanted to stuff the whole roll in my mouth and order five more variants 128523 But seriously, it was quite flavorful--I could taste the torched salmon and crispy salmon skin in each bite. And although each roll contained a lot of other items (ie., asparagus, cream cheese, wasabi aiolo, teriyaki sauce as per menu), each bite gave one harmonious flavor--it was like biting into a symphony 128513

Our bill was less than a thousand which was a small price to pay for the overall experience. Ambiance was a typical Japanese restaurant, made slightly more high-end with its low lighting and prime setup. The seats are a bit tight and quite near each other, though, but manageable. Service was commendable enough, considering it was a busy Friday night, and the restaurant was full.

Needless to say, will definitely be back!128522

Oomazingly good. Oomawesome. Oomagosh to my taste buds

Situated at Mega Fashion Hall. Waiting time is not too long like before.

They serve the best dishes from sushi to steak and even dessert. I highly recommend the salmon aburi maki, hanger steak, and matcha tea-ramisu. 10084
