My 2nd time to eat at Ooma. We had to wait in line to be served but just like last time, Ooma did not disappoint.

Was curious about the name so I did some Googling. Apparently, OOMA is a play on Uma, which means "good". Very apt as you will literally OO and AA when you taste their food.

For this meal, I ordered:

Corn Kakiage
This is Japanese corn balls with Nori salt and mayo dressing on the side. This is food porn at its finest and it tastes just as good as it looks.

Scallop and Tuna Aburi Maki
Their informative menu tells you that aburi means to "burn something" aka blowtorching. Order anything for this menu and you can rest assure that you will not taste anything conventional. This baby needs to be eaten in one pop to be appreciated. Do so and you will be rewarded with an awesome burst of texture and flavor. Each bite will give you a taste of scallop and tuna and everything else wonderful in between.

Ebi Tempura
The term gandang hipon does not apply. This is the best Ebi Tempura I’ve ever had. You can literally eat all of it.

Buta Kakuni
Soft and tender pork belly strips swimming in rich sauce. I loved it, but I literally had to force myself to finish the dish as it can eventually become “nakakasuya”.

There’s much to oo and ahh over at OOMA.

they say this is the closest thing you'll get to an authentic japanese food. and i joined the bandwagon when i tried the Salmon Aburi and Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl.

for a newbie poke bowl-er, i really didn't know what to expect so i read reviews. then it was served to me. at first, i thought it was small and just filled with rice. but i followed the review and mixed them all up.

and oh my! it was truly bursting with flavors. i really recommend to eat it with chopstick for each bite is so flavorful. i wasn't able to finish the whole bowl. you really have to mix it very well so that you won't be overwhelmed with the nori.

for the service, staff were attentive that they were filling my drink every chance they get.

it's a bit pricey so i really will not recommend it. but i'll return once i've been to japan and review if it's really manila's little tokyo.🇯🇵

After eating some Xiao Long Bao in Din Tai Fung, my cousin and I were still hungry so we moved to Ooma. She's be wanting to try the Poke Bowl so we figured that that day was as good time as any.

When the Poke Bowl arrived, I was quite surprised with the serving size. I was expecting it to be bigger. But I guess it worked out in the end since my cousin felt stuffed. She enjoyed the mix of flavors and the hint of spice that came with every bite.

On my end, I ordered two kinds of Aburi Maki -- the Salmon Skin and the Scallop and Tuna. My cousin and I preferred the Salmon Skin one more since we found it more flavorful since the flavors were rich and strong. Though the Scallop and Tuna was the lighter option, it was still good! I guess it was a perfect partner for the Salmon Skin one since I'd probably feel umay if I ordered two richly flavored makis.

I also ordered the Salmon Tataki and it was SO GOOD!!! I loved it more than I did both makis 128518 The salmon was fresh and paired well with the roasted pineapple and pickled radish. The ginger garlic sauce is what, for me, made the dish. When I go back to Ooma, I think I'll probably order three plates of this and finish it all since one order was so bitin for me!

BOLD NEW JAPANESE127884127886

Double celebration last Feb 22, my kumare and I yearly tradition, we always meet and celebrate because we both are February celebrants 127874 then we had our college get together.

We meet at Ooma 3rd floor Mega Fashion hall in Megamall, we had maki, shrimp tempura etc and since it's my kumare' bday and I we blow our mini cake . We ordered one Choco molten lava cake for both of us .

Food was good , service is good too but it's a bit pricey for me .

Ooma god, (hehe) this is so good!!!

I was able to try the crabwich I think on the last few days of its run.

I'm not even a fan of crab but I love this! Each bite is really flavorful! To think that I was super hesitant to order this because crab. 128514 So glad I did though, no ragrets!

From the cheese to the unagi sauce, everything in this sandwich came together harmoniously. Super sarap talaga! 128523

The price is not bad at all for only P299! They should definitely add this permanently to their menu. 128149

NEVER FAILS 128293128293

Tempura, spicy tuna maki, and tataki (tuna/salmon) will forever be my favorites. Hanger steak was overrated for me (unpopular opinion). It's still good but not as good as they hyped it to be.... 128523

Maki with oyster 110881108811088️ (cuz i'm not really a fan of oysters. My friend finished it though 🤣)

Finally got to try this place. 128539

What we had:
- Edamame
It came with a spicy sauce that balanced the saltiness of the beans

- Agedashi Tofu
It had nice twist since it came with a side of Arugula, fried tomatoes, pickled eggplant. It also had a vinegarette type of dressing which complemented everything

- Hanger Steak
The hype is real for this one! Plus serving is huge!

- Soft shell Crab tako maki
This was by far my favorite dish for the night!!

- Salmon Sashimi

The menu is mostly Japanese comfort food with Western twist. I really love their food.
It's a bit expensive but worth it.
Staff were attentive and very friendly.
They keep on refilling tea and water. Service was good.
The sushi/maki are really good 128076🏻
(my fave:Salmon skin aburi maki)

Finally I got to visit one of my go to places during a lackluster night. Sometimes food can turn it around.

I was able to skip a queue because I was dining alone. They have a cool sushi bar for solo patrons. I did transfer though eventually having ordered three dishes.

At the entrance they have a poster that says Bold New Japanese. This sums up their dishes. The creativity is alive in all they serve.

My favorite one was their Salmon Tataki. So you brush up the soy sauce to the salmon, put some wasabi and sweet grilled pineapples and yes, sensational. There something else in that mix, but whats important is the happy effect it will bring.

The Gyudon was as amazing. It could’ve been perfect if they placed more meat though. The flowers were not only good aesthetic, it’s also adds to the dynamic flavor.

Chicken Teriyaki was well cooked and this time portions were better. The salad had a nice touch with dressing blended well with the greens.

Ooma is a must visit. I suggest you also explore their unique sushi creations. They are also instagram worthy.

Late post (since I didn't have a looloo account yet when we dined here HEHE. But I posted this before in my FB)

Pre-Valentine's lunch + trying another new restaurant! It's such a great way to celebrate this special day 9786128156

Japanese food is undisputedly my (our?) #1 favorite cuisine of all time. We have dined in so many Japanese restaurants already, and each time, we tend to set the bar a little bit higher than the last time. Personally, I like Japanese food because the ingredients are always paired well, resulting in a fresh, sumptuous, and filling dish (without the "umay" factor).

Ooma's menu is very colorful and has plenty of pictures, and you will actually want to order everything because everything looks so good! 128525 For those who know our Japanese food eating habits, our staples are Salmon Sashimi (for me) and Ebi Tempura (for Josh). But today's picks are different, mainly because: 1. We want to try new things, 2. The bestsellers / specialties of the restaurant lies in other categories, and 3. This restaurant is not a classic Japanese restaurant (it's more of a modern / fusion restaurant).

Food items are reltaively pricey, but the quality definitely did not disappoint.

OOMA ABURI MAKI
✔ Salmon Tartare Aburi Maki (Php 295 for 6 pcs) - 1108811088110881108811088
Aburi Maki are torched, which is a personal take of their chef in this classic Japanese favorite. We loved how the components worked well together, which resulted to a very refreshing dish. It's also great that the rolls were perfectly sized, which makes it a breeze to eat in one bite.

HOT PLATES
✔ Soft Shell Crab Tempura (Php 398) - 11088110881108811088
The tempura came with the classic tempura sauce (Josh's fave), aligue mayo, and avocado mousse (my fave). It was delicious as well, but was a bit bitin, because the 400-peso dish came with only 6 pieces that are not that big either. (If there were more pieces or if each piece was bigger, it would have had a 511088 rating from me)

✔ Hanger Steak (Php 498) - 1108811088110881108811088
This dish had "no unneeded components", according to Josh. The sauteed mushrooms and crispy baby potato gave the dish distinct changes in textures with each bite. The white truffle oil gave the diah a certain kick and unique pungency, and the sous-vide steak AKA star of the dish, was soft, juicy and tasty. It is then sliced and laid on a bed of sweet potato mash, giving the steak an ample amount of sweetness, as well as serving as the component that bonded each element together.

My Favorite: Salmon Tartare Aburi Maki
Josh's Favorite: Hanger Steak

This is a place I totally recommend! Service is great, and I suggest you visit a bit earlier before the place gets packed during meal times. The ambiance is also good, it's like eating at a Japanese fish market because of the decorations. You may also choose to sit at the bar, to see the chefs in action. 128522 I would love to visit again to try their other dishes. Visit them soon, as this is unlike any other Japanese restaurant!

Pro-tip: For tea drinkers, (hot) house tea is served free of charge. And of course, when you order hot plates, they serve you UNLIMITED JAPANESE RICE! You heard that right! 127834127834127834 (Josh enjoyed this so much, he ate 3 cups of rice! HEHEHE 128586)

P.S.: My rating for OOMA is actually 4.5 11088, but I rounded it up because Japanese food is 10084! 128525
P.P.S.: Happy 10th review to me! 128513

Well what can I say?

I LOVE OOMA! Haha!

So first time to try their Hamachi & Kani Aburi Maki, because whenever I try to order it, it's unavailable. So I was super happy that this time they had it. Aaaaaand it was amazing! Ugh! The best out of all their Aburi Makis!

Also, first time to try their Tori Karaage. It was okay in my opinion, but my fiance loved it! He loved the sauce as well, which he asked an extra bowl for, he said he liked it because it was not just the usual japanese mayonnaise. The karaage looked like little sea urchins btw. Hihi

The rest was our usual order, Hanger Steak and Soft Shell Crab Taco Maki.

I'm one of those silent critics who eat in a restaurant for the total dining experience. The exterior/interior, service, music, location, pricing are vital factors that make this experience memorable aside from the food.

Unfortunately, not every restaurant gives you all of the aforementioned. Been awhile since we've eaten here and not surprisingly, it has the same service as before. Nobody assisted as in the entrance, when we sat down we had to get the menu. The soft shell crab tempura (P398.00) took more than 15min to serve, had to ask for water replenishment, uni wasn't fresh so sashimi cannot be served, and a server was scolded publicly for not helping out with the orders (why not approach and whisper it instead?). Very gloomy aura from the get go when we waited and nobody ushered us to a table. You don't even see the waiters smile, as if a funeral was ensuing. P1,949.82 for all of these observations but at least the Uni Udon (P495.00) was good. The rest was descent like the Unagi Maki P299.00, Gyudon (P299.00, funny how this and an appetizer have the same price), and Katsudon (P299.00 again?🤔).

So in the first place why were we eating at this Japanese restaurant? Blame Lifestyle since they featured sultry and delectable dishes in restaurants in Japan. Obviously, can't blame the show for the cravings.9996🏻️#somereviewsareoverrated #justbehonestforeverybody

Went to Ooma coz the Zo won't stop saying that she loves it there.

We ordered:

Unagi Maki, Beef Chahan, Salmon Skin Aburi Maki & Hanger Steak.

But Salmon Skin was not available & Zo was really sad about coz that's her favorite. We ordered Salmon Tartare Aburi Maki instead.

Everything was good, but what really caught my attention was the Hanger Steak. It was really good! 128523 I really love the Sweet Potato Mash & the Steak itself. 10084️ The only thing that I didn't like was the hint of Truffle Oil.

After errands, we were all famished. Since my family haven't tried this restaurant. I tried this resto thrice and I enjoyed almost all of their dishes. A little price but it was worth it.

We ordered:
Scallop and Tuna Aburi Maki (Php255)
Anago Cucumber Aburi Maki (Php355)
Both were packed with flavor, 6 pcs for each order.

Gyudon (Php289) mostly mushroom, not enough meat.
Buta Kakuri Katsudon (Php289) yummy!
