Before going to Pinto Art Museum. We went to Antipolo Cathedral also known as Cathedral of Immaculate Conception of Antipolo and/or National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage to hear a Sunday mass. It's 6AM in the morning and we expected that the place will be crowded but it will be manageable. The cathedral have a small market outside selling crops, suman, cashew and other agriculture product. I bought "taho" first before entering the vicinity of the cathedral. 9962

The National Shrine for Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage was established on 1632 and was bombarded in 1945 during World War 2. The cathedral was totally damage during that time. The cathedral was designed by Jose de Ocampo and completed on 1954. On the same year, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines declared the cathedral as The National Shrine for our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. The cathedral was elevated to the status of Diocese of Antipolo in 1983. 9962

Nowadays, lots of people go to Antipolo seeking for guidance before they travel. 9962

The National Shrine for our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage is located at the heart of Antipolo City. 9962

The last time I went to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage I was still young as I remembered. Now I have already the chance again to visit this church I didn't missed attending mass, bought souvenirs blessed by the Holy Water and most of all lighting candle for the good journey of life. Am really thankful that the first church I have visited when I was still a kid have grew and became the well known parish for everyone.

Make it a part of your itinerary when you visit Pinto in Antipolo... I haven't been back in years, but it's still a beautiful and well-maintained church... Very fitting for balikbayans, as we pray to Our Lady of Good Voyage...

Memories!!! Still looks the same, when my Mum used to bring us here. Again our ever reliable Mr Garmin lead the way, turns & more narrow roads traversed by a lotta tricycles. When gps stopped I could hardly recognize it! Where are we? Wahahahahaaa. Hadda call a barker to ask where the church is. And he said he can lead us to the front of the church if we promise to buy suman & cashews from him! Of course we said! He jz kept on running in front of the car for a good 10 minutes or so, that we can't help but stare at his calf w/c was humongous! And he never tires to flash his smile and keeps on wavin to us to go forward. Finally we reached the familiar facade of the church where my family even had a great pic, eons ago! 128540
Does it show that I'm kinda wishing for sumthin w/c drove us here? 128540 'twas great to reconnect and truly feel one's being. and how life can totally change in a snap? Sigh! 128555 wahahahahaaa !!! Feeling solemn & cleansed. 128522 of course bought cashews & suman from the gracious male barker 128523

This has been a special place to me. We used to visit the place every year when i was a kiddo. People visit the place to ask for guidance for their safety in travelling abroad or going to a different place that they never been to. That is why the parish is called "Our Lady of Good Voyage".

Once your done hearing mass, try to visit the museum at the back of the altar outside the cathedral. There u will see some relics, dresses, as well as the old pictures of Mama Mary.

But beware of pick pocketers coz theyre just everywhere. I havent experienced one but you can see signages reminding those whose visiting the place which means that theyre just everywhere.

Of course, your visit wont be complete if you wont buy souveniers. Its everywhere so you will not have a hard time looking around.
