I had a problem with my booked accommodation. I forfeited my payment, and went to find a new accommodation. This wasn't very appealing at that time, I was tired and equally frustrated. I went to trusty Google for help and found the Our Melting Point Hostel. I was hesitant to stay here though because I have not tried staying on a mixed dorm when I travel solo. But this hostel is in the town proper, and they've got good reviews so I paid for 2 nights, P570 per night including breakfast. The staff brought me to my bed in a 9-bed mixed dormitory. The room is a bit cramped, especially when you're standing with towering foreigners. But the room is also airconditioned, and has its own toilet and shower room. They also have shared toilets and shower rooms outside of the dorm rooms. I assumed that each bed has its own outlet, because I have one on mine. I was able to charge my gadgets with no problem. There is also a locker in the room if you don't want to leave your important stuff lying around. Just bring your own lock, okay?

I had a bit of their breakfast the following morning. They served us coffee, bread, banana and cereals. Not bad for P570/night. The common area is a good place to mingle with people and share your trip itineraries.

The OMP Hostel has really nice and accommodating staff. I have only good words for them. I checked out in the morning of my last tour because I did not book another night as I will be taking the night bus, and requested them to keep my bag. I also requested to shower after my tour. They had no issue whatsoever with my requests. I even stayed a bit in the common area.

I will definitely recommend this place for backpackers. They saved me big time in my El Nido trip.
