Palawan Special Battalion WW-II Museum is the only World War II museum in Palawan located at Brgy. Bancao-Bancao. It was built in memory of Dr. Higinio Mendoza Sr. who was killed in 1944 by the Japanese “kempetais” during WWII at Canigaran beach. The late Dr. Mendoza was a guerilla fighter who resisted Japanese control.

The museum is also in honor of the Palawan Fighting 1000 Guerilla and USAFE who sacrificed their lives in defense of their freedom.

We walked to the museum hoping it was open on Sunday and it was, but they're going to change that. Started as a one room collection of World War II memorabilia, it expanded to a museum full of WWII artifacts. We met the owner and he was nice enough to educate us on some of the history and talk about his own experiences. We enjoyed our time here at the museum before we depart PPS. It is worth checking out.
