This place has been recommended by friends a few times so when I got the chance, I went straight for the green chicken.

Got the Solo for P229. You have a choice of spicy or not and you may also choose the meat part, I chose the thigh part 128077🏼 It comes with 2 sides so I got the roasted potatoes(loved!) and roasted cauliflower(no good- just because I'm not a fan of the vinegar taste, it was similar to kilawin)- it was changed to mashed potatoes that was delicious, soft and buttery!

The Chicken itself may not look appetizing but it was really good, it's somewhat like laing but without the leafy parts. The coconut milk and spices did not overpower and the portion was a big.

Servers were accommodating although food came in late and paisaisa. Ambiance wise was ok wooden all over and well lit. Board games were available to borrow too.

Looking for authentic and modern Chavacano bites in Manila seems like a daunting task for a lot of us. Indeed, Zamboanga-inspired cuisine has not (yet) made a mark similar to that of Bacolod's Inasal or Cebu's Sinugba. But if one desires to experiment with one's taste buds, this resto along Tomas Morato is the perfect spot. Whether it is Satti or their Signature Palm Grill Chicken, Palm Grill offers (some) of Zambo's culinary treasures for a reasonable price plus a very satisfying serving.

After getting invited for a couple of times to visit Palm Grill by its owners, Miguel Moreno and Noel Canlas, out of my curiosity did I finally oblige and went to their restaurant for a visit. Another thing that fired up my interest was hearsays I’ve been getting from other foodies claiming that Palm Grill is actually worth the visit. So, on a slow and steady Sunday night, I decided to finally go to Palm Grill restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, tagging along a friend with me and we were also joined in by two other bloggers.

Palm Grill has a simple setup that’s designed to attract families and groups to dine in and hang out to. It presents a relaxing, casual vibe to its customers.

Palm Grill’s claim to fame are apparently their chicken dishes. They have the Green Chicken, Oswalda’s Fried, Olympus Roast, and Hot Sriracha Chicken. The thing about their chicken dishes is that no one from among us are familiar with the way they prepped their chicken. They all sounded so new to us. And lo and behold, they try to break off the scene by coming up with something that isn’t bland or plain and ordinary, which is typical of how other restaurants present their chicken dishes.

Green Chicken is Palm Grill’s best selling dish. It’s actually Indonesian and Malaysian inspired. This was slow cooked in coconut milk, and seasoned with seven Asian spices. The owners said that they have used turmeric in the dish, which you can strongly taste in the food. As for the other spices they have used, that remains Palm Grill owners’ (and that of the chef’s) secret. The sweet and savory chicken was just perfectly cooked.

Their Olympus Roast chicken is a healthier variety and it has peanut sauce in it. This won my heart easily and instantly became one of my favorites since I’m a sucker for peanut butter (or peanut sauce rather). The chicken didn’t turn out dry, in spite of it being roasted. The meat remained moist and it was delectable.

Noel refers to their Hot Sriracha Chicken as “Labuyo Wings.” This one is obviously their offering for those who are brave enough to eat something that’s too spicy beyond words. In spite of the chicken being too spicy, it doesn’t overwhelm the natural taste of the chicken. I suggest that you have rice to go with it or get something sweet on hand just to cool down the spiciness of the dish.

Oswalda’s Fried, on the other hand, was actually named after Miguel’s grandmother. Although I am not really fond of fried foods, this one gets to be my top choice among the four chicken dishes. The meat was very juicy, I like it’s crispiness, and the flavors just linger in your mouth and satisfy your palate. This could be too early for judgment but I would have to say that, for me, this is the best fried chicken I have tasted yet in my life.

So go ahead and visit Palm Grill. Check out their chicken dishes for yourself and get magnetized by their food offerings. Please get back to me if you agree with my review of Palm Grill and their dishes. I’m pretty sure you would. 🙂

Tomas Morato has turned from a drinking hotspot to an area filled with restaurants offering affordable and delectable food. New concepts seem to open every month and I often find myself overwhelmed by the growing number of options. But hearing that this new chicken place offers superb "green" poultry made it a bit easier for me to decide.

Hello, Palm Grill.

I was greeted by a space with high ceiling, drop lights and lovely contrast of grey, green and yellow interiors which exudes a chic vibe. Some tables even have grass mats for that garden or picnic feel.

I sat near the bar and got a glass of Lemonade (PHP60) while I wait for the foodies joining me for lunch.

For our feast, we had The Green Chicken (PHP229, solo | PHP349, duo | PHP649, league), Chicken Satti (PHP159), Spaghetti in Pesto Sauce (PHP159), Pinoy Sliders (PHP229), King Carlos' Famous Fish & Chips (PHP289) and Chef Mike's Moussaka (PHP189).

We all started off with the much hyped green chicken.

This chicken, slow cooked in coconut milk and seven Asian spices then grilled, was absolutely scrumptious! I usually get slightly disappointed after someone says that a certain dish is super good. But this one deserves all the praises and superlative adjectives. Each bite was flavorful and the lovely blend of sweet yet salty tastes was something that'll make one want more than just a few mouthfuls.

I next sampled the platter of Pinoy Sliders, Fish & Chips and Pesto.

The pinoy sliders which is stuffed with chicken patty makes one remember of the good ol Sunday afternoon in the 90s where mom would whip up a filling merienda. The crunchy yet juicy patty was simple and very straightforward. However, there is something to it that charmed my taste buds. Is it because it tastes just like the ones from home?

The fish & chips dish was pretty good too. The batter was light while the fish was fresh and soft. It was flavorful as is but a lot better with the tartar sauce.

The pesto pasta was very simple too and went very well with the chicken sandwich and fish & chips. [Note though that these are not the actual serving sizes of the pinoy sliders, fish & chips and pesto and were for tasting purposes only.]

Then things got a bit hotter when we sampled the Chicken Satti, the spicy thick soup with rice balls and skewered grilled chicken.

I had a tiny bite of the rice ball with some sauce and it was too spicy for my liking so I didn't even dare to get another bite with the chicken.

And yes, I didn't attempt to try the other chicken variant they call Labuyo Chicken which is in a whole different level of spiciness.

I just munched on the delectable cheesy moussaka which tasted just like lasagna. This one is absolutely perfect for kids and cheese lovers!

Overall, it was a lovely lunch and I had a blast talking with the owners Miggy and Nelson. The only hiccup I noticed was the slow service time. But I'm sure they'll get used to bigger crowds soon.

Palm Grill is relatively one of the new restaurants in Tomas Morato. Their food has Indo-Malay influences as one of the owners was born in Jolo, Sulu.

Yannie and Miguel welcomed me during their Bloggers Day on May 3. I was scheduled at 3pm. Miguel told us that Palm Grill is actually a chicken restaurant, but they have now expanded their menu to have other items such as seafood and beef.

It's interesting to know that most of their best-sellers are family recipes. Therefore, expect good and awesome home-cooked meals. Or at least the taste and feel of it.

We were served Vita Coco and unlimited coffee while waiting for other bloggers to arrive. When we he group was finally completed, we were served the following.

** Green Chicken
This delicious dish is a recipe from Miguel's mother. The chicken meat is cooked for 1hr and 30min in coconut milk and 7 Asian spices. It's then grilled for the charred taste. It's safe to say that this is my favorite dish in Palm Grill. This is packed with flavors. I'm so curious to know each of the 7 secret Asian spices as their combination is just perfect. I love the tenderness of the meat. Lastly, the turmeric rice in this dish is heavenly. It's the perfect pair for this dish.

** Chicken Satti Soup
This spicy thick soup with riceballs and grilled chicken was legit AF. It's a bit spicy but I liked it. We were informed that this is a Mindanaoan dish, and I'm happy that they brought this good dish in Manila.

** Pinoy Sliders
Chicken patties in pandesal. Though I liked the patties, it would have been better if the pandesal buns were toasted. The pesto pasta on the side can be improved as well.

** Oswalda's Fried
This is named after the owner's grandma. It's a different take on fried chicken. It tastes like homemade fried chicken, and it works for me. Yipee.

The restaurant has OOTD wall where you can have your group photos taken. Such a nice concept. The second floor, I think, can also be used for functions or gatherings.

Chicken is a common thing in any cuisine so when I was invited to attend Palm Grill grand launch I was expecting too much but was again surprised with amazing flavor they gave on their chicken dishes.

Palm Grill is located at Tomas Morato just across Book and Borders cafe. One of the owner of this place is Nelson Canlas of GMA News Team. Their dishes are heritage family recipe of his partner Miggy. Their dish boast what filipino flavor has more to offer. Here are the list of dish we got to try.

128020The Green Chicken - Their signature dish. Don't confuse it to being organic like me haha. This was called Green chicken because of the green texture of the spices they used on the chicken. This is amazingly good. It was like a cross over of Laing and Chicken. Surprisingly as per miggy they didn't use and leafy thing on the spices to make it green. I highly recommend this chicken and it was my fave!

128020Chicken Satti - this is a famous zamboanga spicy chicken dish. I was happy that they brought this dish here in manila because it was spicy good. BBQ Chicken wing on a spicy soup that comes with two sticky rice ball. I love the mixture of the smokey bbq and spicy flavor while having a hint of sweetness in it. So proud of this filipino dish! We should have more of this kind of this dishes that originate in the province!

128020Pinoy Slider - Pandesal chicken burger. Another nice twist to a chicken burger. Big serving and love the chicken patty it was tender.

128020Oswaldas Fried - Their version of fried chicken. It was good but for me it was the typical filipino fried chicken.

128020Fish and chips - this one was not too impressive a bit soggy.

Overall I highly recommend people to try the green chicken and chicken satti. They also got some other interesting chicken like the labuyo. Wow another spicy dish. Definitely will visit for more of those chicken!

Kudos also to Sinon the King of Catwalk that made it more of a fun fun event!!!

Thanks to Miggy and Nelson Canlas, May 3 was palm grille's grand hatching. It's cool it's not only a bar, but they do offer really good protein-- chicken that is! But before we go to the main, here are some food that we dug into last time

It's a burger with chicken patty in pandesal good for four. It got potato wedges to go with it. I say it's really gonna fill your stomach.

It's grilled chicken with over a sweet and spicy soupy sauce with three pieces rice balls. As weird as it sounds, but it's really good. Miggy told us this dish was from the country side.

Palm grille comes a long way from the Miggy's family. All the specialty chicken dishes came from Miggy's "ancestors"

This is a slow cooked coco milk with secret ingredients then grilled into perfection. This explains why the chicken is green. Maybe it has to do something with palm? Hehe, but i liked it. It tasted a little like laing, but has a coconutty taste. It comes best with the turmeric rice. This recipe came from Miggy's mother. The chicken is moist, it really tastes unique, should you visit the place dont forget to order this one.

This dish is from their grandmother--named after all as well. This is a fried chicken flavored with a soy type of sauce. It was okay for me, i just wish they drizzled more sauce on it 128513

Coming ftom their grandpa is the Olympus Roast which is a slow roast chicken with peanut sauce. It really sounds interesting!

Then from their generation the Labuyo chicken-- their version of fried chicken with a special hot sauce!

The place can accommodate about a hundred pax. They have a small al fresco area on the second floor as well.

I was invited to attend the Palm Grill Grand Hatching last May 3, 2017. It's a rainy afternoon but I still managed to go there on time. The owners greeted me when I enter the premises and offer us coffee, Vita Coco and drinking water while waiting for the other bloggers.

Palm Grill is a restaurant situated along Tomas Morato which offer various kind of chicken dishes. As the owner said, they want to be known as a chicken restaurant or restaurant which serves chicken.

As the program started, Sinon (Catwalk King) entertained the influencers, bloggers and visitors while he served the first dish... the Green Chicken. The owners also prepared a sampler plate for each guests which include some of the new dishes of the restaurant. Aside from the Green Chicken, they also served additional 2 more chicken dishes... the Satti and Palm Grill's version of Fried Chicken.

OSWALDA'S FRIED : the taste of this Fried Chicken will surely gives a twist for fried , my second favorite in their signature dishes !

OLYMPUS ROAST : it's a roast chicken with a sweet-tangy peanut sauce ,all the flavors are spot on and with every bite you can taste the flavor and you want to eat more.
