After paying a solemn visit to my dad's grave at Taytay Memorial Garden (he passed away last December, and I still miss him a lot), we were looking to have some lunch around the area.

Since it was my friend's first time in Taytay, I decided to take him to homegrown restaurants instead of dining at the usual fastfood joint. Sumakto dahil mag-cha-Chinese new year na rin, we decided to go to Palmera Dimsum House -- largely in part because I wanted to try some of their best sellers. I had passed this by a couple of times, but it was actually my first time to dine there.

The restaurant evoked a lot of the old-school, Binondo atmosphere, but in fact it was established only about 10 years ago (according to its Facebook page). It was not airconditioned, so if you are looking for a literally "cool" place to eat, Palmera Dimsum House won't be it.

But when it comes to delicious food, this restaurant has it!

💠 Garlic Chicken (short order, ₱150) - big (but not plump, thankfully) chicken! Garlicky and buttery... It was served with a special sweet sauce. But there was no need for me to dip my chicken into the sauce as it was delicious on its own. Nice, crispy enough skin, chicken was well-cooked (no raw blood inside). The melted butter sauce was on the bottom of the plate. No wonder, it is one of Palmera's best sellers.

💠 Siomai or dim sum - (4 pieces, ₱40) - very meaty siomai! I'm a sucker for siomai so I enjoyed this a lot.

💠 Wanton soup (₱60) - big serving enough for two! You could taste the veggies in the soup. The "greeny"-ness of it. Refreshing soup with small meaty siomai's in it.

💠 Yangchow rice (₱60) - it was served kinda cold to me. But it was okay, as it was still edible! Haha. Could have been better if it were served hot off the pan.

💠 Black gulaman (₱30) - Too sweet, so wait for the ice to melt for a while to tone down sweetness a bit.

Service was fast too! Within five minutes all of our orders were served to our table.

Palmera Dimsum House also provides catering services. It opens as early as 8 am so it's a good time for some hot soup fix.

Garlic chicken was absolutely delicious. Will come back for that and try their other offerings. Food was good and pocket-friendly; we were only two, but our meal was big enough to feed four persons!

We also enjoyed the restaurant's unassuming, laid-back, no-bulls, carinderia-style atmosphere. No wonder, Palmera Dimsum House is one of Taytay's best-kept secrets!

Rating: 4.5 over 5 (rounded off to 5).

I've heard about this place several times and it's in the vicinity, so I was curious to try it out. The place was your typical Chinese resto. It has that Binondo Chinese resto feel and since I'm such a fan, I got a bit excited. We ordered Crispy Noodle, Garlic Chicken, 2 order of Siomai(kids are such Siomai addicts), Sharks Fin, Spring rolls and the Torta (curious again). They did say that wait time is between 15 to 20 mins which was okay. When they finally arrived, my jaw dropped at the size of the Torta! It was huuge128558! Totally didn't expect that. Then it was followed by the Crispy Noodle which was also big. We were just 2 adults and 2 little kids, plus 1 baby so I was thinking how are we going to finish all of that 128514. And yes we didn't, not because it was not good but because of the size of the serving. The chicken is flavorful and not dry. The torta was good too even if it's a bit weird eating a saucy omelette. Me and my 2nd kid love the crispy noodle but the star of the show were the Spring rolls, sharks fin and those delightful siomai! So, all in all it was a good first time. Good food at a very, very affordable price and they deliver too!!!!! 'Guess I'll be adding that to my speed dial! 128516

This started out as a small place at a corner of the street along the hi-way and now, this has earned a reputation of serving good chinese chows. They have delivery and restos nearby have tried imitating their food and somehow get their regular customers. I'd still go to the original though. Mas authentic kase the taste. The ambiance is like the typical chinese restos at binondo, just the basics. May mga monoblocks, plain tables and a tv, nothing more. Anyway, i like them because of their food. Garlic chicken, siomai and sharks fin's are my fave. And theyre not that mahal. The ala carte's usually priced at 150.

It was Day 3 of no lutong bahay delivery to our office that my officemates decided to order food from Palmera Dimsum House. They were getting tired of eating fast food and I'm not about to eat cup noodles for lunch again.

I ordered the chop suey lechon toppings (rice + viand), where the lechon part included 2 small pieces of pork. Not complaining though because I'm starting to like eating vegetables more, and at Php60 who am I to complain? :) It tasted good and the serving was quite generous. I also got to try their spring rolls, which were also delish! One setback though: one of my officemates ordered wanton soup, only to be disappointed because it was just LITERALLY soup (no wanton. Well they did say soup, but I guess they have to inform the customers that upon ordering to avoid any confusion and possible complaints).

I have not been to their restaurant yet, but after trying their food I might bring ze hubby there next time :) Their food is "Asian fusion" (as what was indicated in their Facebook page), and if you are getting tired of fast food and on a budget, Palmera Dimsum House might be something you'd like to check out.

Before we used to eat here. Food are delicous. Serve hot for dine in. I like their spring roll and pancit amd chocken garlic. But i got dissapointed nung umorder kmi for take out. Sibrang bilis ng service pagka bayad ko bigay agad. Nagtaka ako baket Ang bilis. Kasi usually kapag umooder kmi for dine in or take out it takes a minute siguro mga 15 to 20 minutes kasi lulutuin p and madaming tao. Pero nung nag take out kmi wla masyado tao kaya nagtaka ako bigay agad after ko magbayad. Pag uwi namin iba ang lasa. Walking distance lng siya s shop namin mga 10 blocks away. Parang ininit lng ung chicken hindi mainit msyado then ung pancit matigas na. Then after a week we try uli gnun p rin ang bilis then d n msarap parang s dami ng taong kumakain painit n lng ang gingawa para mabilis. Dati hindi naman. Kaya d n kmi nag ta-take out. Dine in n lng kmi . Hehe ok siya kapag dine in masarap uli hehe
