Pancakes are considered typical breakfast food in the US although they can actually be eaten any time of day. Back in the 70s, Milagros Basa, Leticia Zamora, and Carmen Zaragosa, thought of introducing pancakes and waffles to the Filipino market, thus, the birth of Pancake House. We grew with them over the years and up to this day, they continue to flourish and offer exciting new dishes to us.

Ironically, Pancake House’s pancakes isn’t really the best product on their menu – it’s actually their tacos, chicken, and spaghetti since these three cater to the Filipino palate.

Anyway, I visited Pancake House recently in Malate together with my sister and we actually availed their Choose Any Two Favorites promo. This actually means you can pick two out of their five best selling classics, namely their Salisbury Steak, Pan Chicken, Adobo Sulipan, Pan Grilled Pork Belly, and Seafood Croquette. This is actually priced Php 390 and your order of food comes with a free glass of iced tea. I got their Pan Grilled Pork Belly. It tasted like the typical Filipino liempo – it was salty, and good thing that it wasn’t full of fat. The portion however, was very small not enough for me to finish my rice.

I also had their Pan Chicken, which consisted of a drumstick and a wing. You can actually choose whether you want it in its original flavor or the spicy one. It actually tasted nice, however, just like the pork belly, the serving was little.

We also availed their taco promo, you pay Php 143 for two tacos already. I had their Pulled Pork and Chicken and the Adobo variety. Both tacos unfortunately turned sloppy amidst its wet content, making it sloppy when it should be dry and crunchy. The adobo taco tasted so sweet, probably because of the mango salsa and its seasoning. If given a chance to order again, I should have just settled for their Original version.

My sister and I also shared their Banoffee Pancake, one of the many new varieties. I loved its creamy whip, nutty graham and its fresh bananas. The pancake was fluffy but needed maple syrup to bring out its potential.

I suggest that you visit Pancake House soon so you get to avail their promos. The Choose Any Two Favorites for example ends this August 31st.

When I enrolled myself to Culinary School, I did a quick bite for lunch here. Place was jammed with people, and servers looked abused. 128517 Tables are not cleaned and sanitation 101 should be updated on the training manuals of the employees. (It's the QA in me talking--). 128517

As for the food, carbonara is fine, but I'm not really into that big piece of bacon on top of it-- not really a fan of bacon in the first place-- then the crepe is just wrong-- horrible wrong. 128517

We had our lunch meeting here yesterday. We already had our seats reserved since we are 10 in a group.

I checked on the menu and I really wanna try the Nutella + Banana cake (ata?) but I think it's not good for lunch.

Checked on the pasta corner, resist myself on ordering a pesto and decided to try the BACON Strip bits creamy pasta (not really sure if the words are exactly the same, lol)

Next best thing in the world are bacons. Who's with me? 128077

Wait for a couple of minutes, like 15mins, before my order arrived.

I appreciate the long crispy bacon strip horizontally placed in my pasta plus the white sauce. I just think that the cream is too thick for my taste. Although the bacon bits are really great partnered in the dish, there wasn't really special in it.

Finished my plate with a satisfactory feeling. I think that the prices here are over rated.

Or maybe they're specialty is just really pancakes.

I'm not a morning person but if there's one breakfast food that will wake me up, it's beef tapa. Just imagining that flavorful beef strips, garlic rice and sunny side up egg makes my mouth water.

Even though it's dinner, I opted for Pancake House' beef tapa and it did not disappoint. Turns out, it's one of their best 'seller. Beef strips are soft, juicy and flavorful. Instead of plain vinegar, this is served with pickled tomatoes and onions giving it a mild sweet and sour taste with a crunch texture courtesy of the onions. The sunny side up egg is cooked perfectly well, I don't usually eat the egg yolk but when this is served, I can't help it but to mix it all in. The garlic rice is a bit bland, I like my garlic rice with strong garlic flavors but it's okay considering how flavorful the tapa is.

We also got the peach pancake, topped with peach slices, whipped butter and peach syrup on the side. The whipped butter is so good that we ordered another dollop of it. The peach syrup is really good! It's not too sweet and yet the peach aroma stands out. I honestly prefer Pancake House' pancakes over IHOP's. IHOP is really dry and crumbly but Pancake House makes the perfect ultra soft and fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Yum yum!

People usually get surprised whenever they find out that I have a big appetite. I may look small, prim and proper but I eat like a man. Lol.

When my friend and I ate brunch at Pancake House, she got Beef Tapa while I got the House Special Set. Most of the time, this is what I order because it has all of the best things on one plate.

The pan chicken was good together with its gravy. I also liked the tacos but what disappointed me was the spaghetti. The sauce was flavorful but it was quite watery. The garlic bread was burnt too. Tsktsk.

I think this branch also needs renovation because their aircon units are old. The walls need a lot of repainting, and they need to clean up the place. Service was kinda slow too.

I plan on doing lots of reviews for Pancake House, one of my favorite childhood restaurants!

Mind you, this was breakfast and I was hungry lol.

I love the House Specials set as it offers all of Pancake House's favorites and best sellers in one order.

When in doubt, eat at Pancake House and be more in doubt (option paralysis). Haha.
