BF and I tried their promo (buy 2 dishes for 370 pesos) for tonight's dinner.

He ordered the pork belly and I ordered the salisbury steak. Pork belly tasted okay for me, but tonight's winner is the salisbury steak. Not too salty, really soft, and the crispy bacon bits added an oomph factor. We'll be back to try the other 2 remaining dishes. Hehe.

PS. We ate immediately after it was served to us. We realized too late that we did not take any picture. 128529 PEACE.

Ate here today for brunch. I couldn't decide whether I want a rice meal or pasta or pancake until my boyfriend suggested that I try the Beef Tapa. He said according to reviews, Pancake House is always in the list of top ten delicious tapas in Manila. I didn't realize he's a foodie now. haha.

He said he read some reviews when he craved for tapa one time. I haven't tried it yet (and since I was really 'hangry') I went for it.

Pancake House' Beef Tapa (Php245) comes with a special marinated tender beef strips pan-fried short of crunchy (as described in the menu). You have an option to choose between plain rice or garlic rice. It comes with a fried egg and mango salsa that is oh-so-delicious!

I chose garlic rice with the thought of "garlic fried rice" in mind. Was a bit sad that it's only a plain rice with garlic bits on top. I somehow felt betrayed. haha.

Anyhow, my boyfriend was actually right. The Beef Tapa tasted good. It even tasted perfect with the mango salsa, which was a little bit sweet and I loved it. They matched perfectly and brought the marinade taste in the tapa. The tapa was tender and was delicately cooked.

4 stars because it took a while before the food was served. The place was a bit tiny that the staff was almost beside us watching our every move. Though I don't usually mind, but they were a bit noisy talking out loud. Good thing I was busy eating.

I just wish they have more choices in their dessert list. :) Overall, I will definitely be back in Pancake House but perhaps in another branch.

WHAT WENT RIGHT

I started eating the pancakes by spreading the butter of course. Pancakes with butter and blueberry syrup tasted great since the butter's salty taste complimented the syrup's sweetness.

WHAT WENT WRONG

But when I got to the middle, where the blueberries are, I felt my throat constrict after taking a few more bites. The blueberries' sweetness along with the syrup made the food just too sweet. I did not help that the butter was gone by that point and that I ordered Chocolate Milkshake for my drink.

The best solution to this, I admit I had not taught of on that day, is hot coffee. I am a coffee person, by that I mean, the regular or instant type. Coffee neutralizes the sweetness of any dessert.

If you want to enjoy heart-warming food, for me Pancake house is one of the place you can find. I know that their pancakes are really good but I never thought that their main course would be good as well. We ordered Classic Pan Chicken served with salad and a bread. Their chicken tastes good and cooked just right. They are not too pricey plus they have a big serving.

The waiters were pretty informal, and almost all of the food we ordered weren't available anymore and they didn't even know. They only informed us after waiting for like 5 minutes and the drinks were already served. I wouldn't recommend this branch at all.

Late post:

Raining and raining.. No other choices for dinner since most of the restos are jampacked. And it's almost closing time, so a 'go' for pancakes won't be that bad.

I had this steak [which i totally forgot now, so if you know you can remind me as my memory database is bad]. It's okay, i just remembered Pilaf brown rice something. 128513128513128513

Then, Peach waffles for dessert! Sooo goooood!!! Waffles are not just for breakfast. Hehe.

A friend's son had his 8th birthday yesterday at the laser thingy in MarketMarket. I was with my sister and my nieces. After their games, we headed out for lunch. 128523

Pancake House is our most likely choice for casual dining, where both the adults and kiddies enjoy their food as much without having to order in Jollibee separately for the tots. 128516

I looove their House Specials Set! It has everything I love in one plate: Pan Chicken, Taco and Spaghetti. 9786

My nieces ordered the corndog meal and the mac and cheese, while my sister the Adobo Sulipan. Waffle foldover for dessert! 128077 Then my sister and I ordered cappuccinos after. 974910084128522

Aaaaand I'm back.

(Still writing about Day One in Manila.)

While tackling the omnipresent dilemma of deciding where to eat (dinner), my relatives mentioned that Pancake House serves excellent spaghetti and chicken, so Pancake House it is! But I ended up ordering their Special Salisbury Steak instead lol. If you ask me you can never go wrong with a meal of salisbury steak. And Pancake House adds some zing to theirs with bacon bits sprinkled atop a mushroom-gravy-smothered slab of premium beef, with rice and a cup of mixed corn and carrots on the side. The smoky bacon taste really complements the dish's salisbury-ness and provides a nice and sort of distinct flare to its overall taste which you can't find in other restaurants' version of the dish. So far, for me, at least.

We wanted to order their pancakes even though it was 9pm, I think, already (we vehemently refuse the universal objectification of pancakes as a breakfast food) but they were all out.

The mutiny shall strike once again!! In other words I'd love to come back here 128517

Disclaimer: Those are my friends.

Pancakes, obviously their specialty. Was unlucky though: they didn't have ice cream so we couldn't order the waffle foldover. Overall, great pancakes! :)

I finally got to try their red velvet pancake and I honestly didn't like it. I totally despised their cream. It was very buttery. It was even better just with normal maple syrup.

Again, it's okay to try buy not ordering it again.
