My adventurous side didn't let my friends off the hook. Hahaha. Since it's my birthday, they have no choice but to try sand boarding and to ride 4x4 with me. For 2,500php you'll be able to experience the wildest ride of your life. It also includes the sand boarding128525. The ride was rough and bumpy beacuse of the sand slopes. I swear, my whole body aches right after. Though it was really dangerous because one bad hit might break your bones, I really enjoyed it.
The sand boarding is somewhat the same with surfing or wake boarding. Balance is the key and confidence is direly needed because a lot of tourists and staff are looking. Hahaha. You may want to sit on your first try then once you pull off the needed courage then slide your way down standing.

The highlight of our Ilocos Trip last April 29, the heart pumping, thrillin Paoay Sand Dunes. I considered this as one of the best days of my life! 128665

The province of Ilocos is not just about historical sites or wonders of nature but it also offers activities for adventure/thrill seekers like me.

It was a mixed emotion when we finally reach that hot sunny afternoon that place. Excited and nervous at the same time but of course the trio wouldn't be complete if I'll let go of this adventure right?

La Paz Sand Dunes in Paoay Ilocos Norte is known for the extreme 4x4 ride and Sandboarding and proud to say that I was able to do both. I survived this extreme adventure! Some scenes here taken from the movie "Panday" were shot here in Sand Dunes and our tour guide bring us to that spot!

We're eleven in a group and we split it into two. I was with my mom Elaine P , my kids Adelheid L Latrell Joshua L my husband and my cousin Zaf. We were standing at the Bach without any harness or seatbelts, all you have to do is stand , hold on tight to the bar of the jeep and ready to shout as if there was no tomorrow! I never imagine myself that I can do this and I'm proud that my mom on her age was able to do it and the rest of my relatives too. It's not that easy if you think. A lot of surprises waiting for you there...you'll be going to different obstacles and big slopes. Its like a one hell of a crazy roller coaster ride with no harness can you imagine that ? You need to sign a waiver before doing this activity so make sure that you'll be physically and mentally ready to do it!

The whole area of La Paz Sand Dunes serves as the tail for the 4x4 ride, with three different levels, easy, medium and hard. The best part is when you reach the top! There our jeepney stop and we were able to see the magnificent view, it's so so beautiful , 128525 we were able to have our picture taking there and of course manong our so supportive to take shots of our jumpshot at the top and it's not yet the end , we ride again in a crazy roller coaster ride on that jeep for us to do the second part of the Sand Dunes adventure, and that is the Sandboarding. At first I was scared because of my fear of heights but when I saw my two kids was able to do it and of course no excuses for me and even my mom was able to do it. It was very safe and the instructor were very patient and supportive to us that we can do it, lifting our spirits lol!

Sand Dunes experience is 2,500 pesos for 5 pax. After we finished the activity we rested in a Nipa hut there and bought drinks as we were so thirsty. This is an experience you will never forget! It's more Fun in Ilocos! I survived Paoay Sand Dunes128665128077

Super love the experience!!! First things first: this sand dunes is around 5 minutes away from Paoay Church. You will be stopped on the road by 4x4 operators. The price for the ride and an unlimited sand boarding is 2500 Pesos but I haggled for 2000 since we were just three (and it's a weekday) 128521

I already tried the La Paz Sand Dunes, which for me is scarier and more thrilling, but also more dangerous. I remember standing at the back of the 4x4 and almost flying whenever we make a dive. Haha/huhu.

Our driver in Paoay however drives safer and I enjoyed this more. He will make some curves and dives but nothing too extreme. We also had the chance to drive in the seashore and that feels unique too. After, we went to have an unli-surfboarding. 127940🏽 there were few tourists at that time so maximized our activity.

Overall, really good experience 128077🏻

128584 Paoay Sand Dunes was on top of my bucket list for our Ilocos trip since I really wanted to try riding a 4X4 trailing the 87 KM sand dunes and going up and down on sandy slopes. It was raining on our way to Pagudpud so we all decided not to swing by Paoay Sand Dunes. We all decided to just go there on our way back to Manila. That almost did not happen because there were so many things we did in Pagudpud that were not part of the itinerary like the Blue Lagoon Zipline (128512 can't miss that too).

I was able to try Sandboarding before but missed the 4X4 ride and I can't belive I blundered this opportunity for the second time. We only have 20 minutes, 30 minutes at the most, to stay at the dunes and leave right away because we all need to get back to Manila before 12MN and we all still wanted to visit Paoay Church. Instead of feeling disappointed, we just decided to enjoy whatever we can enjoy while we were there. Our ride was an SUV so we asked if we can use it to go around easy trails. They said as long as we don't go through difficult slopes at kung gusto daw namin may sasakyan pauwi, ingat na lang daw. 128514 so that's what we did. It's a new experience!

Paoay Sand Dunes is adjacent to Suba Beach. A perfect place to watch the sunset. It was early morning so no sunset for us. Haha! The sand dunes of Paoay is one of the thirsty places in the country and perhaps the largest? I am not sure about that. It's 99% sand because you can still see plants growing at the area closest to the beach where it's more fertile. It's a marvel to see how beautiful a barren place can be. I enjoyed taking photos of the landscapes because it made us all feel like we're in the desert but with our own ride and some Tostitos 128514. The sand dunes of Paoay have been featured in several local and international films because of its beauty. I heard that one of which is Mad Max. I am quite uncertain about that but you can look it up online. (Tamad ako 128514)

We meandered. Everywhere we look gave us an almost similar facet but it's really amazing how it can be so blank and so beautiful. We stopped near suba beach and had ourselves toasted by haring araw watching the waves of South China Sea. If we had more time and a convenient place to shower, We could have gone swimming.

Note to myself: You don't really have to do anything to enjoy your trip. Sometimes all you need to do is sit down and enjoy the view. We didn't get down and dirty at the dunes but we made our quick stopover very enjoyable and relaxing.

I've been wanting to try sand boarding ever since I heard there is one here in the Philippines. We went there this February and weather is really nice, it's not hot and it even gets cold at night.

For a 4x4 ride experience in the sand dunes, we paid Php2500 for the 4 of us. The ride is really bumpy and thrilling. They will bring you to an area where you can have a view of the lake. They will also bring you to the shore where you can take pictures and take a moment to feel the breeze of the air and appreciate the sound of the waves.

After the ride, you will get a chance to go sandboarding, sitting down or standing up. I tried both ways. It was exciting but scary at first.

For the finally, you will be offered pictures of you they have taken which can be printed with a sand dunes inspired background as souvenirs for Php150 each. If you get 4 copies, they will give you the soft copies too. So be prepared to bring a hard disk, memory card or thumb drive with you.

I have tried dune bashing in the middle east, it was way better than what we have but the fact that we have something similar in our country makes me proud! :)

BEAUTIFUL!!

Totally worth the 17 hour drive to get here (traffic sucks huhu). I didn't even realize that there were places like this in the country!! You can either drive an ATV or rent a 4x4 to get around it. I suggest the 4x4! Wear slippers (unless you don't mind sand in your socks lol), sunblock, and bring lots of water.

Weird fact though, they recently stopped allowing girls (yes, just girls) to stand while sand boarding... Sitting was fun din naman but I would've liked to stand 🤔

Paoay Sand Dunes, Ilocos Norte
#loolooexplorerpackgiveaway

I always wonder if it is just me or is it really interesting when you happened to hear the word, Sand Dunes? It starts to sounds like there's a cool adventure going to happen, right? Or at least for someone who doesn't know what sand dunes means maybe? lol I don't know... Anyway...

Here it is, a DUNE is a hill of SAND built by either wind or water flow. Dunes occur in different shapes and sizes, formed by interaction with the flow of air or water. Now we're talking. Isn't it cool? lolt

Prior to visiting sand dunes. We first went to Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in Burgos area of Ilocos Norte. As I write this review about this northwestern part of Luzon, I came with a realization how blessed Ilocos Norte in terms of natural wonders. I always strongly believe that when you take good care of mother nature, in return she will be 10x as good. No doubt about it, Ilocos norte is known by being very industrious in their fields. KUDOS!

The temperature in Laoag City is just the same back in Manila but the feels are just excruciating most probably because of the humidity level. So, we decided to let the sun go down a bit before we head to Paoay.

We arrive in Paoay Sand Dunes at around 3pm from Fort Ilocandia Hotel where we stay for the whole trip (see my review about Fort Ilocandia Hotel from my previous posts. thanks xD ) It is still hot but not as much as the 12nn to 2pm feels. And it is also perfect to witness the sunset while you are in a 4x4 30min long ride. Unlimited picture taking. Taken by your driver's assistant. Great friendly service galore. DON'T MISS THAT MOMENT WHILE THE SUN SETS. VERY ROMANTIC and REALLY UNFORGETTABLE!

For P2,500.00 you get a great adventure deal already with 4x4 and Sand Boarding back to back. In reality, that's half the price you have to pay in riding the parasailing in Boracay. Well, those are both has totally different experience. Just to give you an idea how priceless Ilocos are.

Not to mention their rich nature of cuisine namely Vigan Empanada really rich in flavor and jam packed with meat and all other stuffing, Bagnet is heavenly good there's something special the way it was prepared and cooked you can tell in every bite the quality of it and of course the Okoy a filipino food that has shrimp drenched in eggs and deep fried, a delicacy in Ilocos that has their distinct quality found in their foods. It is so good that it feels like home. Maybe they can relate with the saying, cook w/ love. As an Ilocano they are known by their loving nature. So, no doubt about it.

Therefore, 9hrs drive going to Ilocos Norte is nothing else but reaaaaally ONE FOR THE BOOKS!

Sand boarding and 4x4 rides!

They offer extreme activities for adventure seekers. Sand Dunes is known for extreme 4x4 ride and sand boarding. There are 3 levels for the 4x4 trail ride: easy (bumpy), medium (big slopes), hard (big drop). The sand boarding is done at the edge of the 3rd level slope. You can choose to sit or stand when sliding down the slope with a board.

If you are into that stuff and having hot sand on your face and clothes, then, this is one of the places you have to visit!

One of the best tourist attractions in Ilocos. I'd love to do 4x4 ride and sandboarding again. You also need to watch out for the manong sorbetero who sells dirty icecream with art. :)

HIGHLIGHT OF OUR ILOCOS TRIP!!

One 4x4 ride costs 2500php. Capacity per jeep is 6.
Go for the extreme ride!!! You'll definitely get what you paid for. The view is overlooking the West Philippine Sea. Kudos also to the staff, they were very accommodating and they know how to take good photos! You can also try sandboarding, no additional fees.

Sorry for the photo! Hahaha i did not have the chance to take a picture of the beautiful view. 128514

Paoay Sand Dunes was one of our main itinerary in Ilocos Norte. When we got there, my first question is "How did the sand got here?" And unfortunately, no one can answer my question. 128514 128148

Riding the 4x4 ride ( 2,000 pesos for 6 people) was a fun and exciting ride. Too bad, the driver assigned to us wasn't using his own 4x4 so he was not really giving his best. 128514 but we still had fun.

The package includes unlimited sand boarding but it was scorching hot so I just tried two levels of sandboarding. It was very fun!! :)

Will definitely come back here to master sandboarding 97289728

Highlight of our day 1 in Ilocos! We enjoyed the 4x4 ride and the sand surfing. It was like riding a rollercoaster but freakin' better! And you can go sand surfing as many times as you want once you're in the location. The combo costs Php2500 for 4-5 pax. :)

The best experience i ever had. We got the minimum ride which is 1500 for a 30 min ride in a 4x4 truck. But actually its more than 30 min of adventure. Just be aware that after this you'll get bruises together with laghters, sweat and shouting memories. Not to mention the super duper jolly drier and asst driver who made the ride so laugh trip.

Somewhat famous being "Dubai like," but it was just ok. A friend referred a 4x4 jeep owner to take you up and down the hill but I guess there aren't much people during January in Ilocos.

They also have the "sand surfing" areas but the local farmer said that more people just complain of getting sand rash after the experience or I guess they just keep tumbling down.

Nice sight to look at, but after the initial moment - you realize that it's just that - sand. :)
