Mango and Matcha Crepe Cake! 128155128154

It's my first time trying the Matcha Crepe Cake and it was pretty good. But as much as I would love to love the Matcha Crepe Cake, my heart still beats for the Mango Crepe Cake. It's soft, light, and fluffy! Plus it wasn't that sweet and nakakaumay. Just right! Also, I love how sweet the mangoes were. How I wish they add more!! 128518

After lunch we continued the celebration here in Papermoon. My mom had reserved a whole cake of Ube Mille Crepe. Ube since this is her favorite the national flavor for Moms or oldies hahaha. 128522

The beautiful layer of crepes was just amazing. It gave the cake a nice texture. The Ube flavor was a little too light being overpowered by the creme. It was good but a little nakakaumay after the 1st slice. I still prefer their chocolate/Matcha flavored cake.

I'm still with TeamMatcha sorry Ube. Hehe128540

First time I tried it was in Glorietta , liked how it was uncrowded and it was a perfect spot to stop for coffee and dessert . I loved how their Mille crepe were not overly sweet . The quality of the ingredients were also evident in the texture of the crepes and the fillings . I think the local market still finds the prices a bit stiff but for the quality , those who understand will know it's worth it .

FINALLY!!!! i get to taste papermoon's cakes!!!
i will NOT recommend!!! haha... SAREE NAA!!!!

1st -the price is not worthy.. masarap?? yes ofcourse! pero kc ung level ng lasa madami kang maiicp na other cake cafe.. if i were to choose mag mango bravo nlng aq ng contis.
2nd -the customer service is kulang.. mabait?? yes, ok sila. ok is not good kasi a lot of cafe are much much better. u ask them "whats special about the cake" sagot "imported ingredients" hndi pa ganun ka confident.. waiting kami sa explanation how it was bake or anek anek pa.. waley e. ni hndi kami binigyan ng water, haha.. dapat u ask.

good points: well done sa overall appearance ng store!! very clean, well ventilated, cake presentation, cute furnitures and the RED SOFA ang nag dala! haha... MAKE SURE to be seated there para feel na feel.. ahahaha

Mango Crepes P225 (kulang sa layering ng mango)
Checked Cake P250 (vanilla part is ordinary)

-if u like to have chickahan get together, date date kuno, palipas oras or waley matambayan... u can go here, its okay cafe not the best choice, u dont want to go back-

After having dinner, we decided to have dessert at Paper Moon. I have never tried Paper Moon as I find their crepe cakes too expensive. I just wanted to have coffee but my friend suggested we try their Strawberry Mille Crepe but it wasn't available so we opted for the Chocolate Crepe since chocolate is a safe choice. I didn't like it. It tasted like crepe with just whipped cream. No sweetness or anything. Sad.

The only savior was the coffee. I ordered their Cafe Mocha. I liked it a lot and for P120 I think okay na siya. I'd probably just order coffee next time.

I ordered a slice of the checkered cake since it had the best reviews (out of 7 people). It's ok but I can think of many other cakes that I'd go back for elsewhere. My companions tried the original Mille crepe and mango crepes but after 1 bite, I can't say I understand the appeal. And the cappuccino, like many other cafes, isn't really cappuccino but cafe latte. And the place had plenty of areas that weren't maximized, odd layout. Probably wouldn't come back.

While waiting for my hubby and daughter to watch a movie, we were looking for a coffee shop to kill time. I remembered the paper moon cafe as I've been seeing the Ube Mille Crepe photos in my news feed for the past few days now.
My son ordered the Mocha Jelly and capuccino for me and of course the ube mille crepe. I immediately notice how clean the place especially everything is painted in white. Though the servers weren't much paying attention as I have to repeat our order twice.
The Ube Mille Crepe was delightful. Wasn't too sweet and the macapuno flavor was there. Felt that I didn't cheat in my diet haha 128512 the capuccino was same like other coffee.
Would definitely try the checkered cheesecake and match mille crepe next time 128522

So after a sumptuous treat at Morganfield's, I asked Denise A if she's game for a dessert. Luckily, she said yes. 128513 I initially asked her to try Flat Iron based on the reviews here in Looloo about their Rose Noire. However, the matcha crepe cake of Paper Moon Cafe was calling her. Being a matcha lover too, I was compelled to agree in eating here instead.

Denise ordered their beautiful matcha crepe while I had their checkered cake. I initially read this to be Checkered Cheesecake. But it's not. It's just chiffon cake. It was a sad cake for me. I'm really not a fan of anything chiffon. Denise told me that her cake lacked that unique and addicting matcha taste. I tried her order, and she was correct. Don't get me wrong, the cake tasted good. I just expected a stronger matcha taste.

P.S. They also serve macarons at 60php each.

P.S.S. Since we're both not so happy with our cakes, I was able to convince her to have another round of dessert. Yup, talk about over-eating. But does that apply also to desserts? I guess not. Ciao!

Exquisite Papermoon Mille Crepe Meets Matcha Heaven!
127861Subtly sweet, creamy and fine green tea powder infused in every delicate paper-thin layer of no less than 20 crepes, topped with pure matcha.

I have been craving to taste this famous Matcha Mille Crepe for a long time now. It's been being raved a lot by looloo fellows and friends, So after the quick rendezvous at Morganfield's I dragged my newly found friend Norman T. (LOL!) to have our dessert here.

The Matcha Mille Crepe is priced P225 per slice and P2000 whole. First impression: It looks pretty and fancy. It didn't taste bad but it didn't taste so good to be worth the hype at all plus it's pricey!

I'm a matcha fan, so I was really looking for the strong matcha taste, but then I got upset cause I was only able to taste it on the powder. Maybe because it was so light and creamy, so the matcha flavor blended so well you can only taste the milk cream. I appreciate it being subtle and light but I was looking for MORE. It didn't give me the matcha sparks I was looking for.

Anyway, I still liked it but I didn't love it. I may come back for it but only if I need something light for a dessert.

To add to that, Norman tried the Checkered Cake which is P250 per slice. It's a vanilla chocolate chiffon cake covered with a chocolate ganache in checkered style. Honestly, we were both disappointed with this cake. Probably because we're both not fan of chiffon cakes and it tasted quite blant. It's moist but I really can't find the exact words to describe how it tasted cause, it was so light and airy. 128546

Overall, this is a bad first experience with Papermoon Cafe. Maybe I should try their Chocolate Mille Crepe instead? Will think twice again before I go back here 128523

SPECIAL NOTE: To lessen the negativity of this post, I just realized this might be a good cafe for the adults/ elderly/ Titas of Manila/and the like. And because it's not too sweet of a cake, you can definitely eat 1 whole slice of it without the feeling of umay-ness.

The first time I tried a crepe cake was at mezza norte in Quezon City. It was a love at first bite. I think the inventor of crepe cake is a genius and he/she probably has a lot of time. Just imagine the patience one has to have just to make this. Other cakes you mix ingredients together, put them in an oven then that's it. With crepe, you have to cook each layer one by one. That takes so much work you know.

Anyway, since then I've always loved crepe cake, but I could only get them on mercatos, so when I've heard of Paper Moon I was ecstatic. I wasn't able to try it right away though because 300+ pesos a slice is not something to be ecstatic about. Why the hell is it so expensive? In mercato, you can buy them for around 100 to 150 pesos, but with Paper Moon the price is double.

Cheapskate that I am, I held it off. But I was still thinking about it. Finally, the opportunity has come. Just yesterday after my dinner with my former officemates, we went for desserts at Paper Moon.

It was already around 9 pm but their Uptown Mall branch is still filled to the brim. One of my companions said that it's always crowded, which tells me the cakes there must be really that good.

My former boss went all out and ordered 4 different flavors. She said that it's best if we could try them to see which one is the best. We had the original, chocolate, mango, and matcha.

My friends decided to compare the cakes to beauty queen titles to rate them. Original they said is like Miss Venezuela, it's a good competition but not the best. Chocolate is Miss Friendship because everyone likes it but not good enough to win the crown. Matcha is the least favorite because the matcha flavor is strong on this one and apparently, we don't like matcha, but it's the prettiest because it is drizzled with green-colored powder; so it's Best in Costume. And the ultimate winner, to which I strongly agree is Mango. The zesty flavor of mango adds character to the taste of the cake so everybody loved it. In fact we had 2 slices of it, while Matcha, well, nobody wanted to finish it.

They also have other pastries like cupcakes and macarons but we didn't try them anymore. I had the salted caramel frappe. Does it taste like caramel? Yes. Does it have a hint of salt? Nope, at least I didn't detect it.

Paper Moon is a good dessert place but go only when you have the extra budget. Our bill went up to 2,000 yet I don't think we even ordered that much.

And if there is one flavor I'd recommend it's our declared Miss Universe, the Mango flavor.

Crepe cakes became a craze a few months ago and several friends and acquaintances kept posting these overpriced cakes from Paper Moon on Facebook and Instagram. It made me curious and ended up buying a slice a few months back. I got the Mango Mille Crepe Cake (PHP220) and it was nothing spectacular. The only thing worth remembering was its steep price. But my sister wanted to try it too. I dragged my heavy feet towards its newest branch in Uptown Mall to accompany my family.

Hi, Paper Moon.

The place was small and had a weird interior plan. There were two big round tables that could sit around five to seven diners each, one rectangular table that could sit the same number and two small tables that could sit two customers. Since the big round tables have inviting (yet uncomfortable) couches, diners prefer to sit there even if they are just two or three. Hence, bigger groups have no place to stay. Lucky for us though, one group left and we got one of the big round tables.

My sister was torn between Mango, Original and Chocolate Mille Crepe Cakes (PHP220 per slice) but finally opted for Mango and Chocolate. I spotted that they also have Strawberry Shortcake and I got curious if it tastes good. My curiosity disappeared though when I was told that one slice costs PHP325. What the heck?! I asked why it costs so much and the guy manning the display chest said that it is because they use imported strawberries. But several shops do the same thing so I asked what else make it worth my money. He turned silent and left. Ooookay. (Oh, and this guy doesn’t know the prices! He kept asking his workmate for it.)

So we just settled with two slices.

The Chocolate Cake was pretty good. It wasn’t very sweet and the layers of crepe was soft. The mango cake was okay too.

But the thing is, both were just good. The slices were not special to warrant such prices.

Then again, a lot fall for it. So it might just be me.

Note: If you plan to visit this branch, wear a jacket. It is super cold inside.
