I blame looloo app for making my list of must try restaurants longer and longer and my wallet slimmer and slimmer. I always find myself checking endless reviews. A few posts made an impression and one of which is Paprika, a comfort food restaurant and bar in RCBC, Fort Bonifacio. I have been pestering J to go with me to no avail. Luckily, R and his ChiChi friends are game to visit.

Hello, Paprika!

The place is pretty small and it wasn’t packed at all when we arrived.

It was already a bit past 8 then so we ordered as soon as we sat down. I got the Aligue Pasta (PHP300) while R got the Chicken Tenders and Fries (PHP150) and TNT (PHP265). We also got a Lava Cake (PHP95) and a Long Island Iced tea (PHP175).

First served was the bucket of chicken tenders and fries. It was pretty ordinary but filling as it had a lot of fries.

The Aligue Pasta was okay too though it was a bit on the bland side. The lemon juice helped though. I also enjoyed the fried shrimp which added texture to the dish.

The TNT or the marinated beef sirloin bits over rice with sunny side up egg and tomato confit and alfalfa sprouts (don’t ask me why it’s called TNT) was yummy. I was originally planning to get that but R wanted it too so… yeah. The sirloin bits were flavorful and tender. It went well with the sunny side up egg and tomato confit. I also loved it with vinegar. (Oh my, I’m drooling now!)

The Lava Cake was delightful! It was moist and oh so chocolatey. R loved it too. For PHP95, this dessert is a good deal.

My Long Island Iced Tea on the other hand was quite strong. At first, I had a hard time drinking it as the person behind the bar was too generous with the alcohol. But it tasted better when it was a bit watered down.

I will definitely be back though for desserts and I want to try more entrées. (And probably avail of their PHP399 unlimited cocktails all night.)

P.S. I wanted to post my photo of the lava cake but it was too dark and the photo does not give the delectable dessert justice. 128557

Recommended by my man, Russel F, i tried Paprika a couple of months ago, but just hadnt gotten around to reviewing it. Was so hyped by the well written article especially on the affordable ribs and the fried cheesecake, man. I just had to try it!

Finding the place was a bit tough because it's fairly uncommon for me to be here. Apparently it's in the same building (RCBC Savings Plaza) with Mecha Uma downstairs, which I've yet to try by the way, so even if I'd been living in BGC a few months at the time, I hadn't gotten around to exploring the place yet. Paprika is at the upper levels of the building, so you REALLY have to either know about this place, like I got from looloo (thanks Russel F and looloo), or you work in the area.

Going on a Saturday night then, the floor had a few restaurants but this was the only one open. The music was blaring so it was hard to hear ourselves talking to each other. Guess I expected more of a chill place (it says Comfort Food first) than the "Cocktail Bar" part.

The dishes we ordered:

Adobo Overload - first runner up for the night. Everything Adobo, from the actual main dish to the rice to the sauce and mayo. It's very good. At P320, it's perfectly priced. Just right. 4/5

Bacon and Onion Marmalade Bruscetta for starter - I think this is what my friends ordered. It's in the top right pic. I didn't get to eat it, though it looked pretty well plated.

Baby Back Ribs - at P350, it was a decently priced half rack. We converted the mashed potatoes to fried rice which was probably a mistake in hindsight. They topped it with a vegetable medley, likely a slaw, but it only served to confuse my taste buds so it's better to set it aside instead. Sorry, Russel, being a Racks boy myself, and preferring it with sauce on the side, I just found it okay. 3.5/5.0

Chicken Bulgogi with Kimchi Fried Rice - disappointingly ordinary. The rice was not flavorful enough. I've tasted better at Pie and a former Korean resto of mine in Capitol Commons. 1.5/5

The winner of the night is the Fried Cheesecake! I'd go back to Paprika for this alone. At P120, you get 4 pieces of crunchy on the outside but gooey on the inside cheesecake balls. The cheesecake is pure heaven. Just right sweetness and rich and creamy cheesecake inside. Sprinkled with chocolate syrup, too. An absolute dream. Just makes me drool thinking about it. Uh, can I rate it 10 out of 5?128513

Overall, my curiosity was satisfied. Makes me re think whether I'll go back here again. The wait staff was not particularly attentive nor speedy in food delivery (for our additional orders). Plus the noise! Maybe best to go lunch time, then. Hahaha.

By the way, it's also a drinking place so they have promos for their drinks, which they change once in a while, plus they have daily promos. Good, refreshing feel, and a few witty menu item names. It's got cute in it, but not super cute. Haha.

The value for money definitely helps. And the ambience, satisfactory as well. So overall, I'd give it a solid 3.5/5, rounding it up to 4/5.

The menu and reviews look promising, and I have extremely high expectations to be honest 128513
But it was just ok 128528

Ordered gambas con aligue (so-so though the shrimps were fresh), trio dip, aligue pasta (the fried shrimps were not fully cooked), beef pares and crispy pork over paella (i like this the most)

Overall, I don't think I'll come back soon but might still try it in the future as there are dishes that we wanted to order but weren't available.

If I only knew they served yummy chicken and waffles, my craving would have been satisfied earlier!

Came here for an impromptu dinner with one of my best buds. We shared and order of fish and chips, this chicken, fried cheesecake, and the buy-1-get-1 cocktails (darn, that long island iced tea sure had us spinning). We enjoyed it all! (although it feels kinda bitin considering our bill was 900) Will definitely be back for more... and I actually have 128521

Team Lunch @ Paprika 128513 (hashtag latepost)

Paprika will always have a special place in my heart and in my tummy. 128518 Whenever my officemates would ask me where to eat, it's the first restaurant (or at least top 5) that I would recommend. Why, because they serve real good comfort food! The Adobo Overload is something every human being must try!128076🏼

For our lunch, we ordered the following:
Bacon Onion Marmalade Bruschetta, Adobo Overload, Asian Crunch Salad, Chicken and Waffles, and Grilled Cheese.

The chicken and waffles, and grilled cheese were both just okay. The Adobo Overload, as always, was an overload of Adobo goodness. All of them loved it!! 128525128076🏼 I ordered the salad and I liked it! Crunchy sotanghon with chicken!! So good!!! 128513128077🏼

We also had the WTF! or the What the Fudge?! for dessert. Try this if you like sweets and chocolate! 128521

A different take on Filipino selections, Paprika embodies their unique blend of spices (hence the name) on such gastronomic choices. Such would be their take on Pares, a staple comfort food, as well as aligue-infused pastas. The ambience of the resto gives a semi-homey feeling that blends with a contemporary twist. Prices here though may not be as reasonable as thought they would be.

Had a dinner here before the movies last weekend. I had the Baby Back Ribs that comes with garlic mashed potato. I also tried the Fried cheesecake for dessert.

The ribs were served in less than 15 minutes. It was luscious and the meat was tender. You wouldn't actually need to cut it all over because it falls off from the bone instantly. The bbq sauce that comes with it is uniquely flavorful. The garlic mashed potato is a good one too. I really had no words to describe how awesome this plate of joy is.

The fried cheesecake is amazeballs! 5pcs. of ball-shaped cream cheese cake goodness and topped with chocolate syrup. I can still recall the buchi feels when I had fried cheesecake from Chili's for the first time. 128517 But this one's really good too! 128522 I can't even finish it because it was really fulfilling.

The place was slowly turning into a rave party house just before I left. I didn't check the board of activities so I didn't know what they had that night although it's quite obvious because they're playing some house music. Good thing, I made the right choice to have dinner here 'cause I really love the food! Definitely, a "light bulb moment"! 128161128161128161

This is quite a quaint, hidden gem - perfect if you want to steer clear of huge weekend crowds. We got there around 9pm and I was worried for a split second that they were already closed because there were zero customers - kind of odd for a pay day weekend - but maybe the stars were just aligned for us that evening? You get a date vibe immediately as you enter, an atmosphere that is also apt for quiet dinner & drinks with friends. In any case, we jumped right to placing our orders for fooooooood!

First up, Bagoong Pasta. Although I enjoy bagoong (shrimp paste) in various dishes, I was a tiny bit skeptical about this because I wasn't sure how they were going to incorporate it with spaghetti noodles without the texture being weird. But lo and behold! It was really good and uniquely enjoyable. The sauce was carbonara-ish, with just the right hint of bagoong.

The other dish we shared was Adobo Overload - one of their bestsellers. Adobo rice. Huge chunk of pork adobo meat. Drizzle of adobo mayo. Uh-ma-zing. This was seriously worth the acid reflux later that night.

Other intriguing dishes that are lined up for our next visit would probably include Aligue (crab fat) pasta with deep fried shrimp, adobo fries, and salmon & dill risotto. They also have the classics if you're not too adventurous - mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken and waffles & beef salpicao, among others. Prices range from P150.00 to P475.00, which we considered fairly reasonable (that P400+ dish is the salmon, btw) for the serving size of the dishes. Also check out their happy hour as their cocktails are also said to be a hit - coming back for those in around 4 months, after baby #2 has been delivered. :)

Thanks groupon! So, had lunch here for my bestfriend/boyfriends birthday. 128512 the adobo overload was the bomb. It was tasty, no umay factor at all and the serving was big and the best part of it all i was using my groupon voucher.128587🏼

We also had the roast beef pares, but i guess there are things in life where we should leave it as it is. The pares near my place which is a bit dirty still serves the best pares in the world.

The place is conducive for after work drinks. It has this super chill vibe. 128512

Will definitely come back for more of the adobo overload and happy hour happenings soon.

The service was sooo slow. Arrived at 12:10pm with my 2 officemates today, ordered at 12:40pm, food arrived at 1:15pm. Food was so so given the waiting time. Yup, they forgot my order. Fail.

So lucky Paprika is just located at the same building where I work. :) The Bagoong pasta seems kinda weird but its one of the must-try's on their menu.

Back at my forever comfort food place!! 128588 this time, I was with Anthony! 128107 It's his first time here and I'm very excited to let him try the adobo overload!!!! 128525

It was almost 1pm when we arrived and only few tables were occupied so we got to seat right away. 128513

We ordered adobo overload (P325) and beef pares (P255).

Anthony liked the adobo and says that it is very sulit. The adobo was, as always, super good and overflowing with adobo goodness! This is a MUST order. 128076 The beef pares was okay. The beef was very tender but too sweet for us. Serving size were both very generous! 128516

Overall, I enjoyed our lunch. 9786️ Ang sarap ng kanin!!!! 128069 Service was good, too! 128077

The first thing I liked about Paprika is the ambience of the place. It's somehow romantic with their dim lighting and candle-lit tables since we went there for dinner.

My friend recommended this place because he wanted me to taste their Beef Pares but sadly their beef was not available during our visit so we both opted for their Adobo Overload instead. It was served with adobo rice and adobo mayo. They have big servings. Big servings enough to make me not finish everything. As for the taste, it's quite salty but mixing it with their adobo mayo somehow balances the meal.

It was priced at P325 which I think is good enough considering that their servings are big. The only thing that I didn't like was that there were a lot of whole peppercorns on their adobo rice.

Would I visit again? Sure! I have yet to try their Beef Pares. As for my first rating? It's an 8 out of 10.

Went back last night to hv dinner & catch up ... Thing we've noticed after placing our orders isthat were eaten alive by mosquitos that we had dinner in a rush & run out from the place... The waitstaff said they've been hv the same complaints & will hv heir routine spray soon128560

Once again I order a platter of the bacon onion bruschetta (165)that I enjoyed well last time ... Still as good

Next a bowl of seafood chowder(185) , lightly thick consistency which I preferred & flavorful.. Taste homemade

Their famous adobo overload(325) , fork tender softness & the perfect crackled skin .... great with the rice served .. Carbs & meat overload... Oishi!!!!

And friend ordered beef pares(235) , which again I wish they used a brisket cut instead of a very lean dry cut... But was savory ... But not liking the texture & so not an impressive dish imo

Love the cool vibes & excellent service

Got here around 10pm for dinner & the music was blasting from the speaker .... Tiring day , all I want is dinner & my bed ... and It's a bar set up at this hour ... Lights were so dim... It's impossible to take an acceptable pic..128560

Beef pares over rice... It's savory , but too lean to hv a good pares texture , a different cut like brisket would be a much preferred choice imo... Since the flavour is pleasant to the palate already..size is also good for sharing

Bacon & onion bruschetta ... a nice platter of appetizer... I seriously didn't taste any of the bacon bits ... So I dig into the pile of toppings just to check 128541 ... & there I found 2 small pieces of bacon... Lol... Don't get me wrong but the caramelized onion taste wonderful with or without the bacon , with a little melted cheese & alfalfa topped ... I'm liking this toothsome dish a lot 128525128077
