I'm not fond of strawberry shortcake unlit I tasted this yummy cake or probably this is the only strawberry shortcake that I will eat. It really melts in your mouth, literally! The sponge is fluffy while the cream is divinely light and it's not too sweet.

If you haven't been here probably check it out cause this is a French-Japanese Bakeshop/ Patisserie where you can buy a lot of matcha flavored breads and cakes that is not sweet and satisfy your tum tum128522128077

Not a strawberry lover , no a devoted sweet tooth but the packaging lured me in & after much decision making ... Ended up trying their house best & that's the strawberry shortcake ..

It light , spongey & fluffy , creamy on center & love the richness of the thick cream , yet no appalling or sickening artificial aftertaste, only the right sweetness + the crisp , plum freshness of the strawberry ... Must try ... Definitely for sweet tooth lovers!!!

They have one of the best butter rolls in makati, prolly at par with Yamato's. It goes best with cream cheese in the morning with steaming hot coffee. This patisserie might look intimidating, but really, its good for people who want to get a taste of euro-jap pastries at half the price than Paul Boulangerie's. They offer french macarons too, which is close to Ladureé's. By the way, a quartet of butter rolls costs 50 bucks lang. Summing it all up, i'd say its both Sulit and sosyal - two qualities that rarely go in tandem. Clearly Bebe Rouge is an exception.

I was attracted to this place for their interior. However, I was disappointed coz their prices are just crazy expensive. I bought their matcha cookies for the hell of it. It's a waste of money. I think they invested too much on the packaging and forgot to invest on the taste.

My tita served this on our New Years Day family lunch. Saraaap!

This Japanese style Strawberry Shortcake had a light, fluffy chiffon and feathery whipped cream. It came with large strawberries too. Has anyone noticed that their cakes are always like this? Haaay sarap.

Cute how they add decors to the cake. Ours had a white crane and some trees on them.

This is a good bakery to try, not too commercialized and a bit hidden pa.

3 Reasons to Try Bebe Rouge:
1) The ambiance! In this world of paper cups and ceramic, the porcelain they serve the coffee and pastries in, will make you feel like it's high tea.
2) It's right across a car service center. Changed my tires and spent the hour in a cozy cafe instead of seated on a rickety wooden bench, sweating.
3) Anything Japanese is worth experiencing!! Bebe Rouge is owned by the ones that run Hatchin Japanese Grocery. The couple that owns it actually bakes the bread and cakes themselves, which somehow gives you a bit more appreciation for the product. 127886

In the hour there, the register barely stopped transacting. Japanese nationals kept coming in to buy bread. Good business! They also are opening another branch in the new Century mall.

P.S. A trip here also merits time spent in the Japanese grocery next door. 128076

Bought some pastries and strawberry shortcake the other day.

The chef is a young japanese who's married to the owner of Hatchin.

Taste was good not too sweet and ingredients used are from high quality raw materials.

Price is on the high side yet you may opt to overlook this for getting a good product.

Double fromage cheesecake - not as interesting as I thought it would be. It was described as a classic New York cheesecake with a layer of whipped mascarpone. How they made it was too milky and too airy for my take on what a New York style cheesecake should be. And I could hardly taste the mascarpone.

But, on the bright side, their earl grey cookies and double chocolate cookies are good! No picture, sorry, but they come in these cute containers ready I be given as gifts - Christmas idea!

The place is cute and cheery :) my favorite mix of colors - pink and dark brown.

Their pastries are good daw, so on the next visit, I'll try those.

I was looking for green tea macarons and the nearest I could try my luck in was here in Bebe Rouge. Unfortunately, they have very limited flavors 128532 the closest they have to green tea is the earl grey. When it comes to texture it was a bit crumbly and the flavor lies in the syrupy filling as opposed to the creamy filling and chewy texture of Bizu's. Coffee macaron jyst ok. Where can I get green tea macarons?

Since BR is just very near our place, I passed by to try the cookies Edwin I recommended for me to try. He is right, the cookies look like it was baked in a roll and sliced sometime in between the baking, it doesn't look like it was sliced after baking nor partitioned before baking as it has flat regular smooth surfaces. I got the chocolate chip cookies in a small octagonal plastic container. It was a cross between a softer version of biscotti and danish butter cookies. I like how buttery it is, though not as rich as the real butter cookies. I think they used bittersweet chocolates here, which I ain't a fan of. My son liked it though, so it didn't go to waste. I hope they'll have milk choco chips with nuts next time. It's good to try new things once in awhile, it's the only way to discover which ones are worth going back for.

I've read some reviews saying that Bebe Rouge has one of the lightest and yummiest strawberry shortcake in town. So I went there to check it out.

The location is an effort to get to being in Brgy. San Antonio, Makati. The bakeshop turned patisserie/coffee shop is mostly in hot pink, white and black like a cute French girly cake shop. But I think the space could use a few more tables and chairs to make it less bare and more cozy. Love that they have trays and bowls and jars of small slices of cakes on display ready for you to grab, pay and go.

On to my main purpose for coming here ... the strawberry shortcake. I had a slice of that and their green tea roll which I was told was also one of their best-sellers. Me having a penchant for anything "weird", I ordered a pot of their strawberry wasabi tea to go with it.

The strawberry shortcake 127856 was light, not-too-sweet ... so it was good. But I can't help but compare it to Cafe Mary Grace's version of the strawberry shortcake which I like better than Bebe Rouge's since it's a lot moister, creamier and more flavorful even though it's a bit sweeter.

The Greentea roll 127811 was one of the best that I've tried so far. Moist and tastes like how Greentea should taste like without the artificial flavoring aftertaste.

The strawberry wasabi 127827127861 hot tea tastes like strawberry infused tea ... with a very light hint of wasabi. So light there's almost none. Nothing to rave about.

Overall, they still need to work on making the place more cozy and have a wider and better selection of hot and cold drinks to become a full-fledged cafe that is worth the effort to go to.

Here it is Edwin I, the macha roll. Just got a slice, to taste what a friend was raving about- since it is just 10 minutes from our place. I introduced her to their famous short cake and she told me to try their macha roll. The chiffon is spongy but a bit on the dry side. It reminds me of mocha roll, the taste of green tea kicks in last. It is worth trying, but I wouldn't be buying it as regularly as their SSC, maybe I will give it one more try to eliminate the bias.
The strawberry cream SSC is unfortunately unavailable in slices, just don't know if it is only now or they are really just for MTO. My rating is just for the macha roll slice.

Ok this is no exaggeration, my children got this as gift for their Grandma. We already know from a couple of reviews how good their strawberry shortcake is. My kids, who know how choosy their grandma is, wanted her to try this, without them knowing I just bought a few slices for my friends who came over early afternoon.
What I want to share with you is how Bebe Rouge shows extreme care in minute details. Like how they package sliced cakes, the unconventional box they use and how elegant they look.
As mentioned by THE Edwin I in his review, Bebe Rouge customizes cakes. They add a few white chocolate decorations, which are either apt for the recipient or the giver. In this case they wrote on the equally delectable white chocolate board the dedication and added a white chocolate bear next to my kids' names, Little things that add a lot value for your money.
Needless to say, their grandparents, cousins and godmothers liked the cake-that may be an understatement!
Top left of photo shows how they pack cake slices for take out (failed to load with my earlier review).
