Meet up with a friend here, had some coffee while i was very curious why alot of people are buying their calamansi dacquiose, out of curiousity i ask my friend about this. Apparently this was their bestseller, and it was so nice that i was given a free 7inch calamansi duck-quios. 128522

Sorry no pic as it doesnt look good on a take out, as for the taste ot taste like a sans rival calamansi flavor with chewy layers and bits of cashew in the middle.

While walking around the Power plant mall last Friday, we noticed that there were some stands (or stalls?) of pastry brands near Dunkin Donuts. I wonder if they joined this leg of food bazaar or so..

I found out that one of them was selling yema cakes so I immediately grab one. And man, it's heavenly good. Not too sweet and creamier and more cheesy! Yay! My mom even finished the half of the whole cake. lol

Calamansi Dacquoise. Duck-what? For the uninitiated (like me), dacquoise is a nut meringue or layers of it with whipped cream or buttercream. They say that the popular Sans Rival is dacquoise in origin.

The calamansi dacquoise had alternating layers of the cashew meringue and calamansi custard. It was light with a slight tarty flavor. It's a refreshing break from the usual cakes, although (and this is just a personal preference) I would have liked it more if the meringue were crunchier. Our cake was more chewy than crunchy.

I've been meaning to check this place out for quite a while since it opened just one street away from mine. Store was already closing when we got there but the owner was nice enough to open shop for us. Bailey's Cheesecake was excellent even while frozen. Calamansi Dacquoise was okay as a whole but had an eggy aftertaste that was slightly off-putting. Really excellent service though! We shall return!

The Calamansi Dacquoise reminded me of the calamansi muffins in Boracay, only creamier, lighter and sweeter. I love it!

I don't recommend the red velvet though, it was too red and dry

From our lunch at Greeka Kuizina, my wife and I headed to Caroline's nearby to check their calamansi dacquoise that's got some Sansrival feel to it. It was recommended by a guest adjacent to our lunch table.

It was a bit overhyped. The layers were too chewy. Was looking for the crunch. Wish it was really like that but even the sansrivals were soft and not crunchy. A bit disappointing. But the place is a hole in the wall and it also serves other food and coffee. Cute cafe naman if you don't want to hang out in high traffic areas. So it's different.

I probably won't go back to this one. Sorry. The product did not meet the hype. Too much whipped cream.
