It’s considered one of the premiere locations to enjoy Thai Cuisine. They used to have lines in getting seats. Last Saturday, it was the same story. The restaurant was either fully reserved or filled already with walk ins. The wait staff did allow us to dine in as there was still a 45 minute window from their list.

The dishes came out really fast. At least they assisted in making sure we go out in time. And we did with few minutes to spare. This despite having 7 kinds of plates coming out from their kitchen to our table.

What were really iconic good were two of their signature ones- Pomelo Salad and the Tom Yum Goon. You just have to order this especially if you are a first timer or having reunion with People’s Palace- like me.

The others were expected delicious. The Stir Fry Prawns (Php 520 for 5 pieces) though expensive is also worth adding to your must have list. It’s sauce was spicy, sweet and savory. The Green Chicken Curry could used a thicker sauce and more servings of chicken. For its price of Php 420 it was quite unacceptable.

Forget about ordering the Mixed Vegetables unless they change the way they flavor it. It was kinda bitter sweet and too ordinary to be included in their menu. Also, there was no Stir Fried sweet flavored squid in the menu! Why?

For the desserts, one was good and the other can be skipped. The Fried Bananas was nothing wow and it’s coconut ice cream had a week coconut presence to it. What I recommend is getting the Thai Tah Kho. It is tapioca pudding and thick coconut cream. Wonderful blend of two sweet components.

I got another why though. Where is the Thai Halo Halo? It’s my favorite one. I hope you add this up!

Had dinner here last night with my family. It’s recommended that you make a reservation since there can be a wait for a table.

What I love most about this restaurant is its interiors. Very intimate and elegant. As you enter, the bar is to the left while the tables for diners occupy most of the remaining space.

Here are the dishes we ordered:

TOD MAAN PLA – Basically they’re fried fish cakes with a cucumber and peanut relish. This was just okay. Nothing special. Best to have the fish cakes together with the cucumbers for more flavor.

CHICKEN IN PANDAN LEAVES – The server immediately said that we can opt to have this served sans the pandan leaves since it can get really messy on the table. This is one of our go-to orders in any Thai restaurant. People’s Palace’s take is really good. Not dry and goes well with the vinegar it’s served with.

PRAWN, POMELO, CHICKEN, AND COCONUT SALAD – Another go-to order. Very generous amounts of pomelo and prawn. The dressing has a nice zing to it that goes so well with the pomelo and the shrimp. Really good!

PANAENG CURRY OF BEEF – Tender meat and just the right hint of spice.

CRISPY LAPU-LAPU FILLETS – This is served in a red curry sauce, which I found spicy but pretty tolerable. I liked this one more than the Panaeng curry
PAD THAI – Surprisingly, this was spicy, but again it was tolerable. Generous amount of ingredients and the noodles were cooked just right.

BLUEBERRY, RASPBERRY, CHIA, HONEY, YOGHURT – I always, always order this drink whenever we eat here. It’s sooooooo good and healthy too! 10084️ It’s really filling so don’t drink too much of it before you can actually eat the food.

If I had to eat here for the rest of my life,
I would spontaneously combust from all the spicy food!128293

I visited Josh in Makati yesterday, and we had our early dinner after his duty. After much research in looloo, we decided to give People's Palace a try -- for a change in cuisine.

When we got there, we hesitated a bit because the place seemed too posh. 128513 But after taking a peek at their menu, we decided to push through. Once we stepped inside the restaurant, we were wow-ed by their high ceiling, and minimalistic but classy interiors. We were seated and given the menus, and after much deliberation, here's what we got: a mix of classics and new stuff we wanted to try:

✔ PRAWN AND PORK RELISH WITH PRAWN CRACKERS (Php 230) - 1108811088110881108811088
This appetizer is now added to my Appetizers' Hall of Fame. It's so good and addicting! 128525128156 It had the right blend of spices that screams Thai food -- a mix of coconut milk and a curry-like flavor with plenty of prawn and pork bits. The prawn crackers are similar to the crackers they serve with the fried pigeon in Chinese restaurants. Each scoop of relish you put on the cracker makes it pop a bit (like how popping candy works, or when you dip your chicharon in vinegar 128513). A must-try! 128522

✔ CRAB AND GREEN ONION OMELETTE (Php 460) - 110881108811088
We got this because it seemed delicious (Who can say no to CRAB?), and it is part of the must-try dishes here in this restaurant. But we regretted getting this! 128546 It was such an average dish. Probably only a 2.511088 for us, but I rounded up my rating. There was nothing special about it -- just a plate of Thai rice topped with a scrambled egg with green onions and a hint of crabby taste. At least the hot chili sauce saved it a bit. Do not get this -- too expensive for a dish so average... I'd rather eat at home. 128543

✔ PHAD THAI (Php 480) - 1108811088110881108811088
I absolutely love this Thai rice noodle dish, and People's Palace's version is defintely one of the best I've tried to date. 128076 Their noodles are cooked al dente, and the dish had ample amount of toppings which consisted of prawn, chicken, tofu, and beansprouts. It also had some ground peanuts and chili powder for added flavor and texture. Serving size is pretty big, good for 2-3 people. The noodles they use are thinner than how I usually have it, but it worked for me.

The ambiance was really nice, and People's Palace can be a venue for celebrations, dates, and other special occasions. Again, I really love their high ceiling. 128513 Service was excellent, too! Servers were very attentive to our needs, and food was served quickly.

People's Palace is a great place to grab authentic Thai food, but be sure to be prepared to shell out money, as the dishes can be quite pricey.

Late post!

When you're in the Glorietta/Greenbelt area at least once a week for as long as you can remember, it isn't really a surprise if you've eaten in nearly all the restaurants in the area. That's the case with me lol

But I say nearly because People's Palace is one of those places my parents like to avoid, thinking that the food is unreasonably expensive. Primarily because of how elegant the place looked. It was only last year that we finally gave it a try and lo and behold, the price is actually more reasonable than we thought.

People's Palace serves Thai food. And up until we discovered this place, I've yet to find a Thai restaurant that reached my standard. That standard being Sukhothai, which has been closed for more than 10 years now. But it had the best Pad Thai and bagoong rice. It was so, so good that I still remember it today. Maybe I've not properly explored the Thai restaurants here in the metro. But People's Palace is the closest I have to that Sukhothai experience.

We ate here for my birthday lunch (since Manam broke my heart by going on renovation 128148). Wasn't able to take photos of all we ate tho

My favorite thing about this place is the rice is unlimited 128523

For the soup, we had the Thom Kha Gai, which is the coconut, chicken, and galangal soup. This one is 128076🏼128076🏼128076🏼128076🏼128076🏼. A mix of delightful flavors that include some sweetness and spice. I could eat an entire bowl of this on my own. Haha

We had the Fried Spring Rolls from the vegetarian menu. They were surprisingly huge. I found it hard to finish one on my own so I split with my dad.

Chicken in Pandan Leaves is a must order for our family since it's one of the few things my youngest sister only eats whenever we're in a Thai restaurant. People's Palace's take is thankfully not dry. And the server provided a bowl where we could discard the leaves.

We also had the Prawn, Pomelo and Coconut Salad. Another dish I can happily eat on my own. Just the right sourness, balanced with the sweetness and freshness of the pomelo and coconut.

For the curry, we went for the Green Chicken Curry. Was wary about this dish but the spice level was tolerable so I was able to eat. The Pad Thai was also good. Noodles were cooked well.

I forgot what the drink I had was called. But it had yogurt and berries in it. I only really drank it once I was done eating since I realized early on that it will make me full if kept drinking while eating. Really, really yummy and healthy drink tho!

Having the coding window end at 8PM burns a hole into my wallet because it means I would need to have dinner before heading home or else I'll be burning a hole into my stomach instead. 128517 I'm a victim of hyperacidity so not eating on time is not an option. 128534

I was craving for some Pad Thai so I decided to give People's Palace's pad thai another try to be able to compare which place has the best pad thai here in Makati.

People's Palace is not solo-diner friendly mainly because of the price. It's more for dates or group dinners so you can share the food and the cost.

I ordered one pad thai for myself and it made me bloated 128055 Oops. Hahaha! Upon ordering the pad thai, they would ask you if you'd like them to serve it mixed or not. I chose to have it served unmixed so I can mix it myself and take out what I don't want.

They also warned me that their pad thai is a bit spicy. 🌶 But it wasn't very spicy so it's good. 128077🏼 It has enough to just give it that little kick.

People's Palace is also more on the fine dining side of things so service was quite good. Maybe it was because I was dining alone, but they did ask me how the food was and if there was anything else I needed. 128514

Overall, it was a good experience. Price wise, I would have preferred having someone to split the bill with. 128517

After a long and tiring day last Wednesday not to mention the traffic was bad at the Makati CBD area, my friend and I decide to just stroll at the mall. So after an hour we decided to just have a quick light dinner. So we both decided to eat at People's Palace.

We got the following:

127860Pad Thai - Overall, taste was good and the ingredients was just right. A warning to first timers, if your tolerance for spicy food is low, I would suggest not mixing all the chillies. As a fan of Thai food, I won't consider this as the best as there are other Pad Thai's which I had tasted is far better snd cheaper128513. For me this dish is just 127775127775127775.

127860Stir-fry Prawns (chili+holy basil) - Folks who 128156 spicy food will enjoy this dish. On top of it's spiciness, it is packed with flavors and cooked to perfection.128523 The prawns are plump and sweet! A bit pricey though, probably because of the freshness and size of the shrimp127844. Overall, this is a 1277751277751277751/2 for me.

In general, my dining experience here is a 128077🏻128077🏻. From the time we got seated, attentiveness of the staffs/manager, down to the serving of the food (which is quick by the way!) was very good. For this specific visit, it is a 127775127775127775127775 for me.

Just a 128221, if you plan to dine here, it's best that you book ahead of time because usually the place is full. We just got lucky that we were able to get a seat. Also, prices here are way more expensive than the other Thai restaurants.

We decided to eat here without reservation and luckily we are easily accomodated. This place is always full on weekend dinner bcoz of its good food my favorite shrimp soup not that spicy just ok , chicken pandan is also good but there are pieces that are dry, their version of spring roll is differently delicious My all time favorite the pomelo salad with shrimp others like curry and pork also good. Dessert thai toh kho is absolute surprise its good. The service is fast inspite of full pack house but a bit pricey bvoz of small serving. Over all i will return for a special occasion.

My first time at People's Palace for early sunday dinner with friends. Its thai and i find it exciting. However, upon arriving at 6pm, most of the seats inside the resto were reserved already. No choice but we dine outside. Reservation in this place is a must.

The birthday celebrator (our friend, Andy) call the shots. We had:
1️⃣ phad thai - stir fried noodles, prawns, chicken, tofu & bean sprouts. They got generous serving, that I regret having a cup of rice. 127775127775127775127775
2️⃣ prawn, pomelo & coconut salad- my favorite during the dinner. It also has a hint of cilantro that makes it more tastier 127775127775127775127775127775
3️⃣mussaman curry of lamb- potatoes, peanuts and shallots. This dish is the culprit why I crave for rice. I swear its so tasty. 127775127775127775127775
4️⃣crispy lapu lapu fillets- this balances every tasty dishes that i had. It is served with red curry and basil. 127775127775127775127775
All in all, food is great at reasonable prices. Servers are attentive (esp in serving rice, which we often regret). There are number of dishes that looks delectable. Its a place worth to try. Oh yes coz its a Thai resto.

A friend treated us here for her birthday. We ordered a lot but I didn't get to taste all of them. They have unlimited rice but I'm not too sure if they charge per head even if you don't really eat rice. Since my friend paid for the bill, I'm not sure about the charge.

Here's a quick review:
Pad thai - a little bit spicy but I still liked it, not a lot of meat. Good for 3-4 pax if you won't have rice.
Tom yum - good for 3 only as the seafood was limited so all that's left for me were broth and mushrooms. It is really spicy but lacking the sour flavor that I prefer. I put more lime juice when I cook this at home. I also like more cilantro and this had just a bit.
Crispy lapu-lapu - fried fish fillets smothered with cream. This was ok for me though I usually don't like fish fillet or anything fried with creams.
Mixed veggies - this is my fave. Veggies sauteed in a bit of soy sauce (I think!) but it has a sweet flavor. Veggies cooked just right.

Servers were very attentive. They have al fresco dining (smoking area). Place wasn't packed when we were there Sunday at 6pm.

I'm still not convinced that this is the best Thai resto in town. And Siam at Ayala Center Cebu is still my number 1. Hope they open a branch here in Metro Manila.

My parents were invited to have lunch at the People's palace in GB today by their friends and they asked me to accompany them. I haven't eaten Thai food for a while so I was happy to go with them. Hehe 128522 First thing I did was to check what looloo reviewers said about this place and when I saw that the overall rating was 4.5, I got pretty excited! 128513

We arrived around 11am and there were still a few customers inside. My parent's friends were already waiting for us at the table near the window which was nice because there was natural light coming in and an overhead pin light above the table. Although it was too small to fit the food that we ordered. Hehe

1. Pad Thai - I'm not a pro in Thai food so I don't know how to explain the taste, but I liked it! Actually, we all did. It also had some spice which was a good touch. The dish came in last so it wasn't in the picture. 11088110881108811088

2. Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice - I liked the fried rice, but not the pineapples. I just remove them and their all good. 110881108811088

3. Prawn Spring Rolls - I didn't taste the prawn. But still a dish I would recommend getting. 110881108811088

4. Chicken in Pandan leaves - Regular fried chicken. Couldn't taste the pandan. I liked it because it was deboned. Hehe 110881108811088

5. Pork that looked like lechon kawali (I can't remember the name of the dish) - This one is also good. 128522 Looks like it was fried with new oil since it was golden brown. 11088110881108811088

6. Mango + strawberry + passion shake - It was ok. Not something I would crave for. 110881108811088

If I were to come back here, I would get the Pad Thai and Lechon kawali. 128522

It is one of the most raved about resto, according to the book I've read. So obviously, we are curious about the food. We tried Pad Thai, Fried Lumpia and Thai Milktea. It was ok, not wow or sort of something you want to come back. Bit disappointed because I thought there are something more or some edge to their food..

Pad thai is heavenly/awesomely/burning spicy! Enjoyed the experience. Though some orders are not available (it was 11am! Why?!) it was still fine.

Waiters need to be trained more, they always seem to take your plate without asking you. Happened to me, I was just talking then all of a sudden waiter took my plate away and I didn't even had the chance to say anything. My other colleagues had the same issue so please train your waiters. Customer service and table manners please.

When coming to this place, it's hard not to describe each dish because almost everything is unforgettable.

I used to be a super fan of Silk in Serendra for thai food... until it closed down. When I first tried this place, Silk instantaneously came in second. This, hands-down, is the best thai place for me... probably until I find the next BEST. 128513

My friend invited us for a dinner here last night as send-off for one of our dear friends. While we were waiting for her, we already ordered these:

128076128076 Fried Vietnamese Spring Rolls - bite-sized fried spring rolls served on a small plate with a few leaves of lettuce, mint leaves, and nuoc cham. A nuoc cham is a dipping sauce typical partner to a vietnamese food. When eaten as a standalone, the roll is already quite perfect with mixture of ground pork, veggies and prawns. The flavours are well-balanced and thought-through. When rolled inside the lettuce with mint and dipped in nuoc cham, it becomes a whole new story in your mouth. The crispness of the roll, the delicate umami taste of the meat, the freshness of the veggies, and the salty-tangy-sweet taste of the dip come together and create this little masterpiece. 128522

128076 Thom Yum Goong - I've tried this familiar thai soup from other thai restos and they actually don't come close to this. While sipping the broth, I was imagining myself sitting on the sidestairs of the Chao Phraya river, holding a small cup of hot tom yum soup with my 2 hands as I giddily enjoy the authenticity of the freshly cooked soup. Yes, People's Palace's Thom Yum is as good maybe even better because of its carefully-cooked, quality ingredients.

128076 Fresh Vietnamese Veggie Spring Rolls - I have to admit that I am a bit partial when it comes to vietnamese food... I totally fall inlove the moment you say "Viet.." 128513 Since they ordered the fried version, I had to get the fresh veggie option too because some of our companions don't eat pork plus of course the fact that I needed to see if it's up to par with the viet spring rolls I've had in Saigon. The sliced spring rolls were much bigger than the fried ones. Julienned party of veggies inside a fresh sheet rolled into a refreshing treat. It was served with 2 dips: sweet & sour, and peanut sauce. I didn't try the sweet and sour because I'm not a fan but the peanut sauce was quite good. I couldve devoured the whole plate alone if it's the only food on the table. 128513 It's a really good roll but no, not comparable to the fresh rolls I had inside the Bin Tahn market in Ho Chi Minh. 128522

128077 Fried Prawn Rolls - Around 4-5 inches of fried ground prawn with dipping sauce. This was also good but this is something that I could do without.

128522 Fried Whole Lapu-lapu - crispy-fried fish garnished with a few leaves of herbs. This looks totally fried and crispy but when I tried some, the part I got had some tough areas and was too bone-y. It was crispy fried on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside though so it was okay for me.

128529 Chicken Satay - I'm not really a fan of satay food so I thought it was just ok. The meat was a bit bland and mushy for me too. It was served with peanut sauce and there was diced cucumber as well, I think that one was for cleansing your palate.

128076128076 Pad Thai - When served, it looked like any normal pad thai but this one was really delicious. It's also one of those plates that I could keep only for myself. 128513 The noodles were al dente, and the ingredients were all fresh. I could probably say that this one is way better than the pad thais I've had on the streets of Bangkok.

128076128076 Crispy Catfish with Green Mango Salad - Ah, this one impeccably executed proper contrast. The crispy, perfectly-seasoned almost-flaked fried catfish presented the right balance to the sour taste of the green mango. This, in itself is a dish that can be eaten without rice or any sides. This is probably my night's revelation as it was the first time I've had it in this place. Would totally go for this when in People's Palace. 128077

For dessert, we got:

128077 Crispy Bananas with Coconut Ice Cream - this was served with fried coconut shavings. The bananas were fried and the ice cream was made from scratch. Good. I guess I would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't full to the point of Catatonia. 128540

128076 Thai Thako Tapioca Pudding in Coconut Sauce - the coconut sauce was actually already a cream because of the thickness. I liked it.. reminded me of my childhood when the cooks in my family create provincial desserts with thick coco creams on top. Also reminds me when our Manay cooks laing topped with thickened coco cream -- we call it liputok. It's very delicate and rich. Way better than the cream you buy in groceries. 128522 The minute tapiocas were cooked in pandan. It wasn't too sweet when eaten with the cream so I liked it.

We ate everything and I downed it all with 2 tall glasses of Rosehip Iced Tea. 128522

This restaurant has been around for years but the customers just keep on coming. Most of the regulars are business people, family, or expats. The service is efficient and good, the food - presented well, I like their comfort rooms coz it would really give you that comfort with its clean and hotel-like ambiance. Well, the price is higher compared to other thai places but it's justifiable. So. 128522

The only downside I see as a writing foodie is the lighting.... it's not foodsnap-friendly. 128514
