The only thing that saved this visit from a one-star rating was our server who was all that was efficient and friendly.

But this place has definitely degenerated into a commercial chain that I find expensive and mediocre in quality.

The cha gio (fried spring rolls) were CUT UP into bites. It came with a little cup of nuoc nam and that was it - no lettuce leaves, no basil. I was appalled - no self-respecting spring roll should be served like that.

The supposedly "large" bowl of pho was as bland as it looked, the "meat" balls were these WHITE things, floating sadly in the broth, the beef flank were so thin they couldn't be forked, the tendon were these tiny cubes you can't even tell are the tendon na pala. The broth was watery tasting, with no substance whatsoever.

With my Coke zero, I paid approximately P500 for this sorry meal. I felt so bad, especially remembering the P480 bento box that I could have eaten at Nihonbashitei, or the P135 bowl of asado noodle soup at Luck Garden, the Chinese restaurant on our corner which I'm never able to finish, I thought of all the other good places where I could have eaten.

To think that once upon a time, Pho Hoa was the only Vietnamese restaurant in Manila and quite good. You need a wake up call, Pho Hoa management, especially now that there are other places - like Tra Vigne - where people.can get their Vietnamese food fix.

Could they get waiters that are more enthusiastic in their jobs? The waiters here move so slow and respond sluggishly when you call them that you'd think they're on strike or something. I've seen people literally stand up and leave because they can't get a waiter to take their order. Its a shame because Pho Hoa serves really good food.

Good food but the service needs improvement. The waiters were not that attentive to their customers but maybe it's because they were about to close but still we are paying customers so we still deserve to be provided with good customer service

Pho Hoa is the only Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. I am open to trying other joints but my first choice will always be Pho Hoa.

Their fried spring rolls is the best. Simple dish packed with flavor. Ground beef, vermicelli noodles, veggies, deep fried and drizzled with massive amounts of Sriracha is the best meal. This straightforward dish won't burn a hole in your pocket.

I couldn't last a big meal without eating some sweets. I am crazy for them and I actually forget how much I want to be sexy whenever I see pastries, chocolates, etc.

So as to satisfy my need and want, after eating some Pad Thai, I got myself some Sticky Rice Cakes with Mangoes, Coconut Milk and Vanilla Ice Cream on the side.

The rice cakes were served a bit warm, so the aroma that came along with it made them taste even yummier. With the first bite, the softness and freshness of it was felt by my soul. On my second bite, I topped it up with mangoes, ice cream and poured some milk on it. Ooh, I can taste so much of the item's milkiness, good thing it came with mangoes so it'll balance all the flavors in it. Also, it wouldn't make you wanna vomit!

Overall, this dessert is a very Filipinized item and it brings you back to that first day where you learned to eat kakanin and actually learned to love it, after a while. 128077🏼

Late Post.

After the UAAP Championship between NU and FEU, I felt like I was dehydrated and wanted to drink meds asap! But since the 1st quarter until the Championship celebration, I didn't left my seat. I was given free patron seat by my cousin and was seaten with sea of BLUE. I was wearing a green tshirt and so shy to left my seat to buy food and water. hehe!

I was actually kinda sick around this time and when I was asked by my Tita if I want to watch the finals I can't say No.

After the game, all I want is a hot bowl of noodle soup. I remember I haven't tried the Beef Stew Pho P275 of Pho Hoa and poured over Sriracha sauce over the broth. It was good, not amazing, but I did finished the regular bowl.

I'm actually fed up paying with P250+ bowl of Thai or Viet Noodles. But I have no choice that night.

There are few retaurant that offers cheap noodles. P99 Beef Noodle Soup at Krung Thai, Me Love You Long Time P129. (I know they're not at the mall so lower food prices compared to mall price).

Price VAT and Service Charge inclusive.

And so our dining experience here in Pho Hoa and My Thai continued in this review. As I mentioned on my previous review for My Thai alone, both My Thai and Pho Hoa weren't that much as neighbor restautants. Both were occupying a single slot on the said floor of the mall and their diners will have be handed the menu of both brands.

After Pad Thai was served, we waited for about 10 minutes and they served us the Vegetarian Cha Gio. I got the chance to try this when JP G have it during our All Boys eatup in Kapitolyo last March. And that night was not a bad decision to try it again, but in different restaurant. It is just good as it is! Although the rolls were about 20% smaller here.

Few more minutes and the Vietnamese fish with yellow beans were served together with garlic rice (that we got separately). It was like a cream dory in terms of taste and overall quality. Not sure what fish is it or if it's the Basa fish or something, but it's really really good! One of their best, imo! The sweet soury taste of the sauce blends well with the fish, that will surely give you a "WOW" factor!

Would love to come back in this restaurant, but on a different branch.

Got their fried spring rolls, stuffed chicken, beef noodle soup.

Spring roll is just like lumpia shanghai but with more veggies than meat. Stuffed chicken is chicken skin stuffed with different kinds of ground beef and veggies inside it. The beef noodle soup is the best! Vietnamese specialty soup.

I don't know but I just don't like the taste of vietnamese foods that's why i'm giving this 2 stars.

The service is good tho. I like how accommodating and cheerful the waiters are.
