Post birthday celebration once again last Sunday with my dear highschool friends. Its our first time to eat out at UP Town Center. I was excited for lunch, supposedly at Shrimp Bucket, but we had a sudden change of venue due to long queue.

So we passed by Pinac, a Kapampangan restaurant. There were seats available and we quickly decided to dine. We are all craving for home cooked dishes, so this place is perfect.

We had:
Suam na Mais (P395)- one big bowl! It has 5pcs of shrimps and clams.

Crispy Hito Balls, Mustasa & Buro (P265)- not my usual appetizer. I prefer the fried fish for this one. The hito balls were okay, and i enjoyed the buro sauce and mustasa that serves as wrapper

Salted Egg Paro (P395)- its a bit salty for me. The sauce has bits of salted egg, i was expecting it to be more richer salted egg taste in a creamy form. But since it has prawns.. its always good for me128522

Beef Kare Kare (P365)- nothing spectacular. It would be better if there were more veggies in the mixture.

Sizzling Sisig Babi (P155)- small in size, that we thought its "bitin". But this sisig is tasty that its rice intensive. Its good as it is cooked the Kapampangan way.

Verdict: this place is okay, once in a while home cooked meals are really yummy amd you'll never go wrong. Price is okay, since serving size is enough for us.

We stumbled upon this place trying to look for a place to have birthday celebration lunch for my bff Sandra Y Supposed to have lunch at Shrimp Bucket but the queue was too long and not moving.

I had high hopes for this resto simply because of my belief that kapampangan cooking is the best. I grew up with my dad's and lola's kapampangan cooking that's why.

The place is small but nice and not too crowded. Servers were attentive enough.

Crispy hito balls with mustasa and buro (P235) - small serving of buro. Super bitin. I usually have this meal at home minus the hito balls. Just not a fan of fish nuggets.

Seafood suam na mais (P115) - corn soup. Worth the price coz it has enough shrimp but the shellfish didn't open so baka hindi luto masyado(?) Tasted like it was thickened a bit by cornstarch. It was too thick for me.

Sizzling sisig na babi (P155) - it was not sizzling when it was served and the serving size is just too small! Super bitin! Sana nilakihan nila and just increased the price. Malaman but did not have pig ears. Lots of onions which I liked.

Salted egg paro (P395) - big shrimps and not too salty. I liked this one.

Beef kare-kare (P365) - somewhat disappointing. Not much veggies and tasted like they just used kare-kare mix. Meat is tender naman. But again, the serving is just too small for a group of 4. Aristocrat's kare-kare is better by a mile.

Based on what we've tried, this is just okay. Not something we'd go to again on purpose.

We ate here for Mom's birthday. Their crispy pata is worth the price. We also ordered sisig, salmon miso and dynamite squid.

Sunday lunch with the family, we wanted to try something new & my sister spotted this place... After.looking at the menu, we decided to give it a go...

This place serves Filipino food, specifically Kapampangan dishes, I liked the interiors, the place looked bright & clean...the A/C wasn't cold enough to withstand the super hot weather, good thing they had extra fans around to help with that...Hmmm.. No WIFI tho 128533

So here's what we were able to try

128205Appetizer Sampler @395 - combination of their starters, sisig, lumpiang ubod taquitos, calamares, crispy hito balls , buro and mustasa, I liked the calamares and buro most, the rest was just ok for me 3/5

128205 Angus Beef Salpicao @345 - very tasty & saucy...you'll be needing lots of rice with this 128513 4/5

128205 Salted egg Paro @395 - Deep fried battered shrimps tossed in salted egg & butter ( with aligue too I think) I loved this! So yummy and tasty 5/5

128205Aligue Pasta @225 - meh... typical.. No oomph.. 3/5

128205 Baked Oysters with crispy kangkong @235 - the oysters were yummy but the kangkong was super oily 128529 4/5

128205 Adobong Pusit - I don't remember the price , pretty small order tho but it tasted good. 4/5

Overall a good meal, something different... Be prepared to eat lots of rice though 128517 Service was ok, wouldn't mind coming back to try the other dishes 128522

So here we are at UPTC celebrating my mother's bday. At first we really had a hard time finding places to dine in, (you know the age old dilemma of picking places to eat? Yes it's the real deal people, not only for couples but for families as well 128514128514128514) but eventually we found ourselves here at Pinac. As I've gathered from reviews that they are a proud "Kapampangan" restaurant, of course I can't help myself but to expect flavorsome treats from the famed Cuisine capital of the Philippines.

And I'm not here to contest. 1st off, their Lengua IS. THE. BOMB! I'm fond of red meat. Whenever we visit filipino restos, staple orders would be bulalo and lengua. And so far (for me) this particular dish of theirs is the most delish I've ever tasted 128523128523128523. The fine mashed potato topped with the soft meat and just the perfect combo gravy is just heaven! Their beef kare-kare is also a must try. It's creamy consistency and more on the peanut taste side is just how I like my kare-kare. Their sisig is a bit more spicy for me but it tastes good too. And last, their chicken is one you can really call sarap to the bones. The salty herb-packed flavor is deep seated in every bite.

Plus points would be nice looking well-lighted sossy interiors, space occupying chairs and good mannered waiters. We'll definitely come back for the superb dining experience 128077128077128077

Was really disappointed, the servings were so small!

Callos- Aside from being served in a small plate, it was 80% vegetables, 20% tripe.

Pork Sisig- Served in a really small bowl. Too spicy for my liking.

Seafood Kare Kare- This one was the real disappointment. It was like a soup with 3 pieces of shrimp and 3 squid rings..The peanut sauce didn't even taste that good! (The photo was taken when my dad ate most of the vegetables. No one touched the seafood yet.)

The saving grace was the Smoked Tadyang (?), which was melt in your mouth and really big!

Overall: Would go back only if everything else in UPTC was full, lol.

Looking for authentic Kapampangan dishes in the metro seems easier said that done. Being partly Kapampangan myself, the ideal taste of each Kapampangan staple seems to be one of my main judging factors. Indeed, Pinac has somehow satisfied most of these. Personally recommendable here are their super budget-friendly Sampler Dish as well as their rich Pakbet.

Just arrived from Pangasinan, my friend and I had our dinner at Pinac. I was hesitant at first because of the reviews I read but we tried it anyway.

The place looks clean and neat. There were paintains hanged on the walls but the place radiates boring-ness. The interiors doesn't fit the food they serve which were Capangpangan dishes. Anyway we ordered the ff:

Lumpia Ubod Taquitos. Sounds healthy but it's not. It's oily and nakakaumay.

Chef Nino's Rellenong Manok. This dish was suggested by the staff since our original order wasn't available. Chicken stuffed with ground pork, sheese on a bed of mashed camote. The dish was good, the gravy was not neccesary coz the chicken relleno itself was flavorful.

Beef Caldereta in Eggplant Parmigiano. The best among the 3 dishes we had. The crust was crunchy with lotsa cheese on it.

Cucumber Mint Dalandan. I like this shake. It's refreshing and I would try making it at home. 128513128077

The service was good naman but at 9:30pm they're already asking for the payment of the bill and our food just arrived and just about to start. 128078

I'm giving them 2 stars but since I like the Beef Caldereta and their Cucumber Mint Dalandan, I'm giving them 3 stars. Ha!!! 128513

Delicious Filipino-Kapampamgan food. Angus beefsteak on the photo. We were a big group-12 people-and we ordered the recommended dishes on the menu. Sinigang sa miso, twice cooked adobo, lumpiang ubos nachos, binukad tilapia, among others. It was all good but the beefsteak arrived late since we ordered it late. But nevertheless it was yummy.

Pinac is your typical filipino resto nothing extraordinary in their food but I did like the creativity of the hito balls 128540 The kare kare was also nice. I suggest they should have their serving a little bigger with the price they have.

Pinac is a so-so restaurant. It's not memorable. The only memorable food is the dessert -- latik fondue. Though it was too sweet it was very Filipino. Food price is affordable! My favorite is the Molo soup! What we ordered: Ensalada with kesong puti, liempo, bangus belly on aligue rice, sisig, latik fondue.

avoid please, that is my suggestion. went here with family a few days ago & ordered fried catfish, bringhe, miso salmon sinigang & sisig. first off, the pics on the menu and the prices will give you an impression that food portioning will be big but you will be disappointed when they are served...small puny servings. the catfish was dry and old, the bringhe was way too sticky and gloutinous and has no flavor and the chicken skin topping was. makunat. we had to send back these two items. the sinigang miso sa salmon, again, had no flavor, seriously, even when we added miso. the salmon was not fresh. the sisig was ok but too small for the price. such a big disappointment. we ended up eating again in dulcelin, that's how unsatisfying our experience at pinac was.

Food's ok. I've had better Filipino food in other restaurants at a more affordable price.

I didn't like the fact that their "best sellers" were unavailable when we were there! We were only able to try the Hito Balls. A creative way to enjoy Buro but a bit pricey for the serving.

I did like their drinks. All in all, they were all wonderful to photograph, but taste-wise, they were just a-ok. 128516
