If you happen to be a late riser and tend to skip on breakfast, then you might as well check out Poblacion Dining Room’s Boozy Brunch Weekends. They actually organize brunch buffets held during Sundays from 11am to 2pm. I just feel happy having attended to one over the past weekend.

For Php1,995, you get an eight-course meal, a buffet with the quick melting Raclette all you can have, and free-flowing cocktails. It was actually a sit-down setup where the dishes were brought sequentially to your table. For buffet they have different kinds of breads, dried fruits, crackers, olives and other types of cheese.

Poblacion Dining Room is co-owned by Ros Juan, who owns Commune Coffee; Chef Mickey Garcia; and their operations manager, Iñigo Alvero. Their Brunch Weekends are actually a collaboration between La Petite Fromagerie (who provides the Raclette cheese), Commune/Kusineromix (providing the brunch items on their menu); Swizzle Mobile Bar and Proudly Promdi (providing the cocktails) and Tummy Travels (who is responsible for the food styling).

I didn’t really get to finish the whole food course but let me give you a rundown of the things I’ve had there over brunch. My life does get busy so I sometimes do eat and runs! I had their Watermelon Salad, which consisted of pili nuts, baby spinach, and feta cheese. I liked it a lot since it was just bursting with so many flavors and textures. There was sweetness coming from the pili nut, saltiness from the feta cheese, a bit of bitterness from the spinach, and a refreshing feel from having a bite of the watermelon.

I also had their Tanigue Eggs Benedict. The eggs were particularly nice since I like them runny. However, I think I prefer salmon more than tanigue as it gave off a very strong fishy taste to it.

I liked their Longganisa Pandesal for it showcased some local northern flavors to it. It was a bit spicy, and adding into the flavors were the caramelized onions and tomatoes in it.

I have also enjoyed their ensaimada with Plaza Ham and scrambled eggs, and Raclette cheese from La Petite Fromagerie. The thing was creatively made, and a couple of flavors were highlighted in it – the sweet taste of ham complemented the milky, nutty taste of the Raclette cheese, and there was also the scrambled eggs which I also liked.

We also got to sample their Tapuey Wine, which is an alcoholic rice drink from Ilocos. It has 13% alcohol content and a strong lingering sweet taste most likely to balance it out. They also served us sangrias with Tapuey Wine in it. You can actually pick your poison or have your choice of cocktail, and if you happened to have liked a particular dish that has already been served to you, you may ask them to give you the same dish again twice.

Quite eventful huh even if I did not last the whole usual 3 hour sit down and chatting with other food lovers. I suggest checking them out, they are right at the heart of Poblacion, besides third wave Commune coffee. Set your alarms early so you can catch up with them and make sure to have your brunch there on a #BoozyLikeSundayMorning.

Sunday was so very cheesy when we experienced Brunch Buffet at Poblacion Dining Room.

Poblacion Dining Room is located in Poblacion, Makati. They have the same roof of Commune Coffee, just right beside the cafe. The brunch buffet has limited slot only, the place isn't big enough to accommodate big groups. The buffet table was well designed and it has various kinds of breads.

This is a sit down buffet, they will be serving the featured dishes on the said day. The guests are free to ask for another round if they want to. Yes, as the hashtag go, the melted raclette is unlimited and other cheeses while supplies last.

We were handed the menu of the day as we start the Brunch Buffet. The server asked our drink first (we can choose at least two drinks) while we wait for the first dish to be served.

All dishes served were fitted to have melted raclette on top of each dishes except for desserts. It enhances the flavor.

"My favorite was the Tanguigue Eggs Benedict during our brunch. The smoked fish was too flavorful and has no essence of being fishy. It really compliments with the egg and melted raclette. Yum!"

Verdict: I find the brunch buffet expensive for Php1,500.00++ if you not take advantage all the cheese in buffet table especially the raclette.

Tip: If you're not a cheese lover do not go here. Sayang ang Php1,500.00++
