Looking for a place to stay overnight after our day tour at Aquaria Waterpark, I came across this somewhat hidden place at the far end of Calatagan, Batangas. I had a difficult time deciding to book a stay there as there were only several reviews found on the net and the reviews were mixed, some were saying the place is nice, some were bombarding the place with negative comments. Haha
Undecided, I asked a friend living in Calatagan of her thoughts regarding the place, it was right on time as she just went there 2 days before I asked her. Without any second thoughts, I immediately booked the place and in 3 days… Off we go!
It took us a little more than 3 hours reaching Aquaria Water Park. Maybe 2.5 hours only from Manila if no stopovers. We were the only people who had day tour in Aquaria that day. Stayed there for almost 5 hours, then around 4 pm off we go to Puesto del Sol. It was just an 8 to 10 min drive to reach Puesto del Sol. There were several street signs scattered so you won’t be lost looking for the place, HOWEVER… before reaching Puesto del Sol, you have to pass by this narrow unpaved road surrounded by little houses which was kinda scary and unsafe. The road was also steep!!!! It was not an easy drive reaching this place, I swear!
PUESTO DEL SOL is a Spanish phrase which means SUNSET, so expect an amazing view of the sunset in this place, atleast they wouldn’t name this place as is if it’s just a lame view, eh?!
We were greeted by the resort Manager named Mark. He was really nice and accommodating. We reserved the room 3 days before our arrival and he even allowed us to pay on the day itself.
They offer several casas perfect for couples, families and big groups. Room rates range from 5500 to 9000 per night. We stayed in their CASA ISABEL (8800 php) which is their biggest room in the resort. It can accommodate 4 persons plus additional 2 on extra mattresses. It has 2 double beds, mini ref and a washroom. The airconditioning was working well, they have dim lights and the room was spacious enough for us five. They don’t have a heater on their washroom but it was not a big deal for us. It has its own dining area just outside the room and its own lanai where you just can relax, chitchat and have an spectacular view of the place. And oh, we also have our own plunge pool!!! The rate includes free breakfast. We were 5 in the group so had to pay an additional of 1000 for an extra mattress and breakfast. They also give free coffee.
They allowed us to bring snacks and drinks though if you are to bring food they will charge you 2000 pesos for the corkage fee. They have their own menu which consists of Filipino food. They also offer their “FRESH CATCH OF THE DAY” however, it was not available when we stayed there. The food were just okay. I cant even remember them now. Ooppss. The breakfast served where the usuals, plain rice, hotdogs, eggs and corned beef.
Staying here is just pure relaxation. Though if you want to go to the beach you still have to leave the place and travel for 2 mins to reach the beach. The resort offers ride to the beach with a minimal fee. They also offer several activities with a fee. Just ask them for more details. Will include below the activities they are offering.
The pool for me is just small, especially if the resort is fully booked. Good thing when we went there, we were the only people who stayed. We literally owned the place for the whole day. Their pool is open till 10 pm. We did maximize our stay in the pool and did stargazing while having some drinks. Ohhhh life. It was kinda cold, but who cares? Hahaha
The place was also pet friendly. They allow their guests to bring small pets. They even have their own dogs, cats and guinea pig strolling around the resort.
Overall, our stay here was beyond expectation. The manager and his crew were all nice. The rooms were well maintained, though some of the facilities outside the room was kinda outdated. Like the outdoor kitchen which I think was not already being used. There were lots of flowers and trees within the vicinity which really added to the relaxing vibe of the place. The beach was also overlooking the resort. What I can really commend for this place is the sunset. So better, hurry up and make sure to not miss the sunset here. Stargazing is also a must. Just a tip, avoid going here during the peak season or even ask if the place is fully booked. I think even if only 3 families accommodate this place, you will already feel that its crowded.. unless you will use the pool in different times.
We haven’t tried any of these as we only stayed here overnight, but will surely try one of these as we will be coming back for sure!

To escape the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila, Batangas is the nearest beach destination.
Just take the van (PHP 250) to Calatagan at the street beside Kabayan Hotel in Taft which is near the MRT Taft station.
It takes exactly 2 & a half hours to get to Calatagan Terminal from Taft. Take a tricycle at the Terminal to Puesto Del Sol. It's a bit rough getting to the top of the hill but totally worth it.
They have the most fantastic view of the sea with boat traffic and the sunset. The place is really relaxing. Beaches are 5-10 minutes away from this hilltop villa resort.
We stayed at one of their Casitas. Nice all white room with a flat screen, I suggest you bring a USB filled with your series or movies they have no cable yet. Got an okay bathroom with hot & cold
shower. This accommodation is PHP 5800 good for 4, max is 8 pax
Food is simply delicious. I've been told they're working on a more varied menu. For now it's home cooked goodness of fresh seafood and classic Filipino dishes.
The owner also gave us a ride to Stilt's compound to enjoy an ATV ride before and until sunset.
They're also constructing more villas, I am very excited for this hill top resort.
