We had lunch here last Saturday before going to Museo Pambata to attend a super cool show of a 10 year old artist and his creative mom (the show is on until May 18! Go!).

Grabe Ang traffic sa loob ng Binondo. It took a while for us to get to the address as listed on Looloo (Masangkay St.) only to find that it had moved to 739 Ongpin St. diagonally across President's. Since we had already parked on Masangkay St., we just walked down Salazar St. to Ongpin. (Hahaha detailed).

This is a supposed to be a vegan or vegetarian carinderia so we were a little confused that they had "pork" and "beef" dishes. Yun pala they used vegemeat or some similar thing.

We ordered:

1) squash and ampalaya in coconut milk;
2) sisig (now that I think about it, the sisig tasted like it had mayonnaise so maybe the restaurant isn't vegan)
3) steamed vegetable dumplings
4) vegetable empanada
5) pork barbecue

The husband and I liked the squash and ampalaya in coconut milk, the sisig and the steamed vegetable dumplings. The little boy loved the Empanada and his "barbecue" (na-excite because for the first time he could eat barbecue instead of his usual vegetarian meals).

Since we got there at 2 pm, lunch service was over and the food was cold na. (This is a carinderia type of resto so most dishes are pre-cooked and left outside). The wait staff offered to warm it for us. Still, food is better freshly cooked so better to come early. I would probably give it a higher rating if we had come earlier and had the hot food.

Oh, they have some short order dishes, like Lomi, that are cooked when you order. We should have gotten that because it seemed like the dish everyone ordered (in addition to getting from the carinderia line-up).

I don't remember how much we spent but it was one of the cheapest meals ever. Sulit!

Vegetarian point-point carinderia style. I never thought there would be a turo-turo catering to vegetarians till we went to Masangkay St and Quan Yin Chay fulfilled that imagery.

Clean-looking carinderia with a lot of vegan/vegetarian viands for everyone to be curious of. There's a store on the other side selling all kinds of vegan/vegetarian goodies - from vegan tuna, bbq and xo sauces, choplets, chicharon, etc.

For Php70, you can have 2 viands and rice. So we had barbecue, sisig (128536), kare-kare with vegetarian bagoong, and beef steak. And then add some lumpia (Php48) and radish cake (Php12), we were so full! I loved everything! Most especially the texture and consistency of the meat in sisig. I'm so sorry I was really overwhelmed with all the choices in front of me. 128557 (Vegetarian tears of joy.) There was free house tea (oolong) as well and ate, our server, was very kind. 128513

It was a vegetarian dreamland. I would definitely come back here!
