Quik Snak, was built in 1967 by a 60-year old woman named, Pilar Ferrero Lim Glok Ki. The restaurant offers Hokkien food laced with other Asian flavors. I went there recently with some food bloggers and we were able to try four of their best dishes, Indonesia Tauhu, Fresh Lumpia, Sate Beef Mami, and Empanada.

The Indonesia Tauhu is basically tofu sitting on top of a sweet sauce and drizzled with herbs. It was not as good as the tofu dish that I had in North Park, nevertheless, I still think it’s delicious. I didn’t like the fresh lumpia until I dipped it in vinegar. The lumpia is thick, the wrapper is practically bursting with the generous stuffing. I would have finished it if it weren’t for the fact we still had 3 more restos to go. What I really loved though is the Sate Beef Mami, swimming in spicy, heavy sauce that reminded me a lot of my other favorite noodle dish, lomi. I loved it so much, I almost asked the other delegate to hand me her plate because she didn’t touch it.

I'd love to go back to Quik Snak with friends and have a chance to eat all the Sate Beef Mami that I want.

We tried their pancit satay (not sure if this is the right way to spell it) which has kangkong and spicy peanut sauce. It was so good but after some time I could not tolerate the spicy taste. 128540 I give it 110881108811088

We also had Ama Pilar's tofu (again, not sure if this is the correct name of the dish). This is deep fired tofu which is then placed over some sweet sauce, topped with wansuy and hot sauce. This is my favorite! By reading the description, you would think it is ordinary but when you actually taste it, it's just beyond ordinary. Yummy! I give it 11088110881108811088

Then we had this pastry, kind of like empanada. But this one was filled with pork, wansuy and some other veggies. It was also good! I give it 110881108811088

I learned the place has been around for about 50 years now and Ama (old lady in Chinese, if I spelled it right) Pilar opened it when she was already 60 years old. It's a hole in the wall because it is along this small alley.

5/10: During this time of our Binondo food trip, we tried taking things a bit slower. You know the reason why, we're starting to feel full already. haha.128514

• PLACE
- It is located in a narrow pathway but it's easy to spot on. (I'm not sure why others had a hard time looking for this one). When you see the huge signage of Holland Bakery, turn right and you will see the Quick Snack. The place can accommodate numbers of customer. They have restroom and the place was well ventilated. Boyfie noticed that they have 4-5 aircons. haha! 128514

• SERVICE
- The service was good. Friendly and always on smile. Our order arrived pretty fast too!

• FOOD and PRICE
- Indonesia Tauhu (75 pesos) - If you're a fan of tofu then this is surely a must! If not, then don't. ;) I didn't expect that the serving size would be like this one. But for the price of 75 pesos, it's actually a catch already.9786️ It's a huge giant chunk of tofu that is crispy on the outside, yet super soft inside. It has savory nutty sauce with hint of garlic and a bit of spiciness. The kinchay leaves on top gives that dish an earthy flavor too!128525

- Chami (110 pesos) - Pretty ok for its price. Nothing spectacular since I want a saucy approach on this one. But nevertheless the sauce was flavorful and didn't skimp on ingredients (except the one piece of shrimp) 128517

I wanted to order more but we have to give way and save some space to our tummy. haha. 128518128518128518

The third stop of our Binondo eatup held at Quik Snack located at the alleys of Carvajal in Binundo. This was a new place and seems everyone's excited to go here. As a result, na-excite na din ako. #bandwagon hehe.

I shared the table with Dell C, Rochelle C and Maureen S; we got the Ma Chang, Singaporean Tofu and the Lomi with sate sauce. Afterwards, all our orders were served one by one.

Ma Chang - this has been recommended to me before by Dell, but I forgot to try it. So I took the chance to try it now and boy, I couldn't be more satisfied with it. I like it! I am a fan of sticky rice like Biko and this one's an instant favorite. There were also some stuff inside that makes me more into it, such as the Chinese Chorizo, pork & mushroom. It's just good as it is! 128076

Lomi with Sate sauce - To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Lomi. I don't know, I just don't like the big noodles or such, but this one's an exception due to its rich and savoury taste.

Singaporean Tofu - Maureen and Rochelle introduced this dish to us and I would agree with Dell, this is just amaaaaziiing! Soft tofu drowned in this flavorful sauce, saraaap eh!

I also had the chance to try Jennifer N's talaba este Oyster cake and was more than impressed with its taste. At first, I thought it was like tortang talong pie (basing on its look). But the taste was just heavenly good! I can't contain myself with this talaba! 128514 Subra ba!

It was a great experience as a first timer for trying all these dishes. Should I come back here next time? Op kors why nuts!?128526

The real spelling of the place is actually Quik Snack 128522 It was meant for it to spell it's name incorrectly, so that everything else can be perfect! (You can't be 100% perfect, right? 128540)

Seriously though, I've been here for several, numerous, innumerable times! And it has always been consistent with the taste and quality on the dishes that they serve. Even the waiters are consistent 128541 and I mean it - literally!! I have seen the same waiters since I was a child. Rochelle C can also attest to this fact! So perhaps there is something about this restaurant, to have persisted despite being located in a hidden area, not opening during Sunday's and retaining the waiters (loyalty is quite a rare gem).

Now back to the food 128522 we had machang, lomi with sate (my first time to try it, since am not a fan of lomi Dell C), oyster cake and Singaporean tofu. I really liked all of them 128512 i managed to squeeze several mouthfuls despite being stuffed by the dumpling shop the group visited prior to this 128539

Other must-try: lo bihon and fresh/fried lumpia!

Thank you Maureen S for introducing me to their Singaporean Tofu. It is just amazing. Crispy crust and soft tofu inside plus the perfect saltiness of the sauce to flavor it up. I usually order their lomi guisado with sate sauce and it is really good but this tofu is a new discovery!

Sorry I don't have picture since Russel F just went straight for it the moment it was served. 128540

I love oyster cake, and so far, Quik Snack's is one of the best I've tried! This is my staple order and nothing else 128514 but this time I ordered machang too. I'm not a fan of their machang as it is too bland for me. And it's too bilasa for my liking.

Their oyster cake is perfectly cooked every time, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Best paired with ketchup and Sunshine hot sauce! 128077

I rarely go here because there is no parking, and it is located in an alley (which is actually Carvajal Street) which can be hard to find for people who are not familiar with the area. I'm glad that this was one of our stops during the Binondo eatup with Trixia C, Paula P, Justin J, Russel F and new friends tagged below 128071! 9786

It was nice meeting you Jewjew B, Maureen S, Jamie G, Neil R and Dell C!! 9786

Binondo Eatup Part 2! Woohoo!! 128077127881127882128522

Had a blast Trixia C Dell C Russel F Jennifer N Paula P Neil R Jamie G Neil R Jewjew B and new friends Rochelle C and Maureen S. (ayaw ma-tag. :/)

This time we tried a different place called Quick Snack. It's not an easy place to find as it's located inside an alley.

I ordered their Machang. I was surprised to see how big it was compared to the ones sold in the street.

Not a fan of sticky rice but I tried it for the experience. The rice didn't taste that good but the stuff inside was good. There was pork, mushrooms, chicken and sausage. Parang binalot na ulam pero malagkit na rice.

Also tried their oyster cake/pie ba yun which Jennifer N ordered. It was okay except for it being slimey.

Sorry bilis ko magreview. Nganga eh! Haha.

Another hole in the wall resto here in Binondo. Haven't been here for a long time and yet, food is still very good. Fresh lumpia is one of my favorites here not to mention their crispy noodles with sate sauce. And most importantly it very affordable! Authentic Chinese food + pocket friendly price = 128077 solb!

*sorry for the picture haha shot is too near*

The Indonesian Taufu from Quick Snack is worth a try. A dynamic combination of opposing flavors - sweet and sour - the Indonesian Taufu proves to be appetizing as it looks.

2nd Stop! #300atBinondo

We went to quick snack to order their lumpia (either fresh/fried) we prefer fried. We thought it was filled with veggies but it wasnt veggies alone. As you can see, it looks like meat but when we had a bite it wasnt the usual meat. Parang isaw na chopped to bits. When we asked one of the waiters, they were hesitant to tell us. Akala siguro nila gagayahin namin recipe nila lol HAHAHAHA

It was really delicious! And it was cheap, only Php 45. 128077

The place was kinda hard to find esp when youre not that familiar with the place. Nasa may eskinita kasi siya. But the food was worth it! 128077128077128077

This was the second stop on our tour, it's along Carvajal street, past the fruits and vegetables. You gotta keep your eyes peeled as there's only one (very dirty) sign 128522
Here we got their kuchai-a, tofu and satay pansit. The kuchai-a was really good, the pastry was fresh and not chewy. The filling was tasty and meaty. I loved the tofu! I love tofu and this had like a special sauce which was sweet, tangy and spicy. Just be careful of the cilantro leaves if you don't like them (I don't like them 128513). The satay pansit was a bit too spicy for me (less one star because it kinda killed my taste buds) but my uncle and husband liked it. Maybe I'm just a sissy for spicy stuff. Will go back for more tofu and to try their other dishes!
