I would consider myself reasonably exposed to the ramen houses in Manila, so I was pretty excited to try out the only Ramen house in Subic.

The service was ok, although the guy forgot to give us the cold house tea we asked for.

There are three basic ramen choices to try, the miso, the shoyu (soy based broth), and the salt based one. The servings were plenty enough (we got the deluxe). My primary criticisms are that the broth was pungent-musky of raw pork meat and the ramen houses in Manila have learned to eliminate this already, because the aroma really does smell like the wet market with raw pork hanging on hooks.

As for the noodles, the firmness, consistency, and texture felt like they were merely instant noodles. If you ever heated yourself a Nissin’s Ramen cup or a Maggi noodles pack, that’s the type of noodle quality I felt in my mouth.

They can do better. I know this is a savage review, but if you’re craving noodles in Subic in any case, it’s worth a shot if you want to experience the ramen bowls here yourself.

While on our way to Zambales, my friends and I decided to have lunch here. The place was full when we arrived. Seen in the photo is their karaage. It was crispy and servings were big. I also had their crispy spicy tuna, which is deep fried sushi. It tasted good also! I had a bite of my friends' food (miso soup and cheesy maki roll) and they were all 128077

The only bad thing about this restaurant is their serving time. We waited for almost an hour! After several follow ups, waley pa rin yung food namin. 128548

Shoyu Ramen Extra Large and Chicken Kaarage. Chicken was crispy and juicy, great with the sauce and a nice complement to the ramen. Ramen itself was rich in soy flavor (which is what shoyu stands for). Great taste, pork was soft, noodles were firm, nori is a nice addition, broth is clear and has good flavor as well.

Watch out for this when it hits Metro Manila and Cebu!

Would I come back? Many other ramen places for me to try so probably not.
