Always a better option than fastfood. At P200 per person (assuming you're part of a group of at least 2 people ordering General's Chicken and Gising gising), you get fastfood prices and food is served quickly. Much better seats than any fastfood resto and excellent service. Just be ready for the noise even if the restaurant is not full of people.

General's Chicken (225PHp) flavorful dish but the serving was not sulit for the price.
Bagoong Rice (128PHp) didn't taste the bagoong that much.

Didn't enjoy the food much. They have small serving. Crispy tilapia wasn't that crispy. Kare kare was good but lack of meat and veggies 128542 though service was good!

If you are:
: Looking for a decent sized but balanced and delicious meal for 300 to 350pesos
: Very hungry and want to get it over with, Service is very quick!

Don't go
: If you want to impress your date. Best if you're already a solid couple (perhaps 3 months into the relationship) and there's no turning back!!
: If you want a meaningful conversation. The tables are situated very closely to each other and you can hear your seatmate's conversations as if you are sharing the same table.

Must order:
Fried tilapia, Gising-gising, General's Chicken

General's chicken is still my fave! But, it's better eaten in the resto so it remains a bit crunchy though saucy. I got it for take out and it wasn't crunchy anymore. Though, the flavor doesn't ever change!!!! 10084

Meatless Fridays during Lent is extra challenging for a carnivore like me. I was too hungry to wait for hubby to finish his errand so I went ahead.

On the table
🔹Lechon Kawali with Kangkong - I was a good girl and stayed away from the pork belly! Hubby said they were good. I ate most of the kangkong which were still a bit crunchy. The soy vinegar wasn't overpowering and I poured most of the diluted sauce on my rice.
🔹Mixed Seafood - i was disappointed on how it looked but the sour slightly sweet flavored fish, shrimps and squid totally made up for it. Imagine Sinagang with Gabi broth but on the sweet side. Hubby kept on saying that this was delicious.
🔹Crispy Tilapia - nicely plated. The fish was corny when eaten without sauce. The breading was much more than the fish. It tasted better when drowned in the sauce which wasn't spicy at all.

The seafood dishes were pretty ok but I think I'd still stick to ordering their meatier food.

Sinigang na Bangus Belly - sour soup with local vegetables and milk fish. We don't usually order sinigang in restaurants but this was definitely worth a try. The soup was flavorful and not too sour for my taste. Bonus points for the boneless bangus! (Hassle free eating) 128523

Recipes' Kare-Kare needs improvement. The first time I ordered it, peanut butter was all around the bowl like it was not mixed properly. 128078 I gave it another chance (since Kare-Kare is one of my favorite dishes) so I ordered it again on our last visit. This time, I did not taste the penut butter. It had a nice color and the beef was tender but the sauce was bland even if you put a lot of shrimp paste.

We always order the Crispy Tilapia. Who knows that a simple fried fish can be tastier? Minus points for their kare-kare... Peanut butter was still at the bottom of the serving bowl as if it was cooked in a hurry.

Recipes is a very humble restaurant for me.

It doesn't have elaborate decorations, strange fonts for their signs, nor attention grabbing color theme. Their take on their restaurant setting is very simple; minimalist if that is the right term. So I guess that's why, even though I've been seeing it around the metro, I didn't really had the strong urge to try it. But since a couple of their branches are visible in the public scene, especially malls, and since a couple of my friends have said that their food is good, I decided to try it. I was wondering what can they offer despite their toned down atmosphere.

I am surprised that under the simplicity, they serve delectable filipino dishes. As filipinos, of course, it's hard to please are palette with the taste of our own cuisine since we know how every spoon of it taste. However, I'm surprised that my taste buds really liked how they flavor the food.

Unlike other filipino cuisine based restaurant, they don't boast of their 'authentic' flavors. Just like I said, they are pretty laid back when it comes to appealling to the customers. Despite this, I think it also has an advantage on them. In my case, I was impressed with a somehow underplayer for me.

However, the price is not that cheap. Though I can say it is affordable since each dish are considered for sharing(I think it's good for 2-3 persons? Correct me if I'm wrong please). I also think that their price is reasonable considering how tasty the dishes were.

For people who doesn't want a lot of chechebureche or kaartehan before eating, I think you will enjoy this place. It's filipino dining straight to the point.

We decided to eat lunch here one sunday and we had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated. This did not bother me too much as full restaurants usually mean they have something good to offer. Later we noticed that the place was a bit small and the amibience was more like a fast food joint.

We ordered one of their all time favorites - gising-gising. We also ordered the fried bangus belly. We originally wanted to order the crispy tilapia but one of the staff apologized and said that they had received a bad batch not fit for comsumption. It was disappointing but at the same time commendable as it demonstrated their standards for food quality. The serving time was reasonable - about 15 minutes or less.

It was worth the wait. I marveled at how the gising gising was so appetizing. The pork, green beans, and coconut milk mixture had just the right amount of flavor that I could imagine eating it all day 128516

The fried bangus belly did not disappoint. It was crispy and hot, which went well with the gising-gising. I will be back to get my no-frills Filipino comfort food fix 128077

The food quality hasn’t changed. They still serve good, Filipino comfort food.

The servings were small which I didn’t mind since that gave me an excuse to order more dishes. And I prefer eating a smaller amount of food with more variety.

Gising Gising
was made with chopped green beans with ground pork in a delicious coconut based sauce. It was everyone’s favorite.

General's Chicken
Yes almost everything was fried! But I must say they do a good job with frying. The oil is fresh and the food isn’t greasy. Although the fried beef ribs were a bit tough.

The next time I go back I will make a conscious effort to try new dishes but it will be hard since I always want to order the tried and tested dishes. I heartily recommend this restaurant.

Went here with Nins a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know what to expect because I didn't know what it was. Filipino food pala but with a twist. It reminded me of this place in Katipunan - World something (forgot na bec they closed).

I got the lechon wth kangkong. I forgot what Nins A got but it was good 128077

Filipino cuisine. I tried their lechon kawali en kangkong, guess what they have mang tomas which rele made me happy cos of all restau I've been 'twas the first I encountered to have it available. Haha then their gising gising will rele keep you awake, but don't fret cos it's not too much of that spicy. They got big servings, you can actually share it with a mate. En the price is just right. 128077

I just think they have to expand cos as a customer like me, I hate waiting.
