I was too hungry to take a picture. Hehe. The food was great! The manager was also accommodating (we're a party of 10-15, so they had to fix up the upstairs area for us.) that seafood pasta (with red sauce) was really nice. 128077

This is not our first time to eat on Red Garlic but it's the 1st time I had to urge to post a review. The place has limited space and on the times we ate here was pretty crowded. Fr this visit we were with my sister-in-laws family and we have this coupon from Groupon that my wife got online. This sort of makes the prices a little more reasonable for our group of 8. The food selection is just enough for most palates. So far we've tried chilli poppers (creative but lacks the 'kick' I expect from the chillies and there seems to be a shortage of the sour cream dip this time ), Mandarin Salad (just about right 'twang' and a must try) , Pomelo Salad ( the one with adobo flakes that gives it a slightly exotic twist while retaining the guilt-free feeling that you are eating healthy). E also ordered their fried chicken ( too much covered in bread crumbs for my taste) and Florence pasta (a white sauce pasta but am not into white sauce pasta at all but they all love it). These two must be good as the orders didn't last more than 5 minute on the table as these were devoured by what I think are ravenous dogs. It's either that or they were good. finally the restaurant staff were attentive and accommodating and smiling all the time. So will I go back there ? Hmmm... Maybe next time wifey has a discount coupon.

The modern and bistro look from the outside enticed our appetites to go adventurous on what Red Garlic offers on the menu. O and I chose the Monte Carlo Chicken and Shrimp Popcorn Nigiri sushi.

Monte Carlo is a roasted half chicken marinated with their italian herbed seasoning recipe served with mash potatoes. Sounds delightful from the menu but as soon as we got our order and tasted it, big disappointment on our faces flaunted out. The chicken was too dry and its garlic bits were burnt. I didnt get to notice its italian herbs seasoned on the chicken. For its price, p499, I know i can get more from it! It might be insulting for the chef but i had to ask for steak sauce just to season and to add taste. Completely bland and dull chicken :(

For the shrimp popcorn nigiri sushi, we were served 7pcs of tempura shrimp tossed in spicy mango sauce on a sweet sushi rice. It's not a bad combination of sushi but after 2 pieces, it's not pleasing for the tastebuds anymore because of its sweetness.

Overall, our money wasnt spent wisely that evening. I dont know if our orders were wrong or we werent meant to go back at Red garlic anymore. Oh well...

Pray, Eat and Love.

Cheers,
The Food Scout

Didnt like this place so much. We got the Asian Salad and Bagoong Rice.

The dressing of the salad tasted like something I would make, aka palpak. So being a salad eater didn't really like this. I did like that it was spicy pero haay didn't like it talaga.

Are you like me who orders food when you see the photo on the menu? Well the pork on the bagoong rice was not even close to the photo. Ang nipis and it was missing the nice glaze you see on the photo. I was worried there wasnt any pork because you had to look for it under all the mangoes. Maybe its a game? Scavenger Hunt? 128521 Sarap ng rice but Id rather go to a Thai restaurant for it.

Their seats are amusing too in a huh128563128517 kind of way. We sat in the banquet area. Every time my "date" would sit down I would be pushed up because of the air underneath the canvass. Free ride!

What we ordered:
Hanoi Pomelo Salad with Crispy Adobo Flakes
Santiago Chili Taco Poppers
Tazmanian Roll
Roasted Rosemary Grasspork
Frosted Crunch Fried Chicken
Santorini Pasta
Bangkok Pasta
Torre Del Greco

All in all, the food was pretty good. BUT! It's quite expensive, around 500 per person without drinks. I was quite surprised because the ambiance of the restaurant was quite casual. Felt like a 300/person ambiance. Hehe

What I liked:
Hanoi Pomelo Salad with Crispy Adobo Flakes - i really liked the vinaigrette, just the right sweet/salty/sour combination. Pomelo was a bit dry, and there were not enough toppings i think. But it was pretty good
Torre Del Greco Pizza - this was really yummy, It has a very thin, crispy crust. And the toppings are tasty. It's more of an appetizer though.
Roasted Rosemary Grasspork - this was the only one that i think had a big serving for the price. It was really good, especially with the sauce. Quite tasty.
Tazmanian Roll - This was yummy, but the 'soft shell crab' is deceiving.. It was just kani inside. But the crispy fried maki had a soft shell crab taste. The rolls were pretty big than usual
Santorini Pasta - Nice creamy tomato seafood pasta. Unlike the maki, this tasted like it had real crab in it. It has a slightly spicy taste that I liked.

What I didnt:
Santiago Chili Taco Poppers - Just the typical dynamite roll. Lacked spiciness that we wanted. It had very little stuffing. The sauce was good though.
Frosted Crunch Fried Chicken - it actually tasted pretty good but there was too much breading! The chicken was thin and small. Although the breading with the sauce tasted good, still felt a bit ripped off.
Bangkok Pasta - it was like Bagoong Rice with pasta instead. It has pork, shrimps, peanuts, green mangoes. It was missing some egg. Hehe this actually tastes good, some of our companions liked it, but for me, it's just ok. It didn't taste 'expensive', tastes a bit 'instant' or Foodcourt-y.

Its Nov10! We need to have a lunch out!

Not knowing where exactly Red Garlic is at High Street we took a cab from 4th street. And oops! Its just located at 6th street, our cab fare was only P43.50, "isang patak lang!!!" :D

Oh well, moving on. The moment we stepped in the resto, I felt happy 'cause it feels so like Christmas!

We ordered their bestselling Santorini Pasta, the Trio Pizza, and their bestselling Pomelo Salad w/ Crispy Adobo Flakes. But when the orders came in, it seems that its not enough for the 4 of us, unlike what the staff told us earlier, so we added a Frosted Crunch Frued Chicken.

With all our food in, Its now enough to satisfy my hungry tummy. All I can say is that their bestsellers are really deserving to be a bestseller, your personal visit can justify that. lol.

That's why I'll be giving them a 4 star. Why not 5? 'Cause it's a bit pricey for a not so good amount of serving. But still, it's a great one.

I had high expectations for the ribs after reading all the raving reviews here in looloo. So despite the insane price of P950 for a half slab, I ordered the darn thangs!

Conclusion: meh it was OK. The meat was really so tender and practically falls of the bone. But it had too much sauce! The sweetness and spicyness were too overwhelming that you get tired of it after just one rib! Maybe if there was less sauce, it would have been better.
The mashed potatoes were made from scratch (aprub!), but it tasted really bland, considering that it was topped with the sauce used for the ribs.
And the corn they served smelled spoiled! :(

Although I really enjoyed their chili pepper taco appetizers (or whatever its called). That was really good! The pepper stuffed with taco meat and wrapped in a crispy crunchy soft taco is da bomb! That, I recommend :)

But go ahead and try it yourself, then lemme know what you think ;)

For our first time at Red Garlic, we were really satisfied. Everyone can't help but get more servings of the huge portion of the half slab Tequila Lime Beef Ribs. It's good for sharing. Must try the Florence carbonara pasta with truffle oil which makes it really yummy. The Bangkok pasta is also at par. Yummy and unique tasting. Will definitely come back here. :)

I ordered their frosted crunch fried chicken. It came with fries. The serving is quite big, 3 medium sized chicken fillet. The meal was good, i like it! But i can see that the breading is kinda thick, and the chicken was medyo small. I also feel it's oilyness in some bites!128547

So RED means Read, Eat, Drink. Not to harsh anyones buzz but there wasnt any reading going on in here. Im having a little trouble classifying this place--is it contempo? Comfort food? Nevertheless, the menu was a promising, confusing mix of eats. We finally settled for the Monte Carlo chicken, Ceasar Salad, French Garlic Soup, Ribs and carbonara. The carbonara was the best thing I ate that night. Creamy and well cooked, it had a truffle taste that I loved. The chicken was nothing special, dry and slightly bland and redeemed by a soft, yummy mashed potato. The salad is not even worth mentioning.

The ribs? Tender, heavy on the stomach and well presented. The servings were huge so we barely finished anything.

Side note, they gave me a tiny straw in a tall glass. I cant finish my drink. :(

Was it good? Sure. Would I come back? Probably not. And at BGC prices too.
