When all else fails... We run to Red Kimono for lunch on weekdays. Service has been reliable as always. The manager knows us by name while the staff knows us by face... They do have a wide variety of Japanese and fusion food and drinks... 128055128077

We had another Japanese Night at BGC and we ate at Red Kimono. Since we were really hungry, we ordered their Gyudon and Gyoza. We were not sure but we think that the price of their food increased. Anyways, when the Gyudon was served, I noticed that there was no egg yolk on top of my rice bowl. So I showed it to the waitress and she respond quickly telling me that she also asked the same thing to their cook. She explained to me that the egg already sinked. She asked that they can put another egg if I want to (Good Service!) :) I declined to her offer and already start eating my Gyudon. It was really good although the rice is not that enough. It seemed that the bowl only contained half cup of rice. So we ended up having an extra rice.

I don't think my love affair with red kimono will come to an end anytime soon. They have great vegetarian and vegan options and understand instructions to make special dishes exceptionally well. I love anything with their miso peanut dressing and their veggie sushi surprise is a must try for both the meat lovers and haters alike. However, I do feel that the restaurant has compromised significantly on the consistency of the quality of food. I go there so much and sometimes the food is amazeballs but there are times when servings are smaller and the freshness of the food is questionable. That being said, I still love red kimono and will always and forever give this veggie friendly restaurant a thumbs up.

I was referred by Jaya M to join the #loolooiPhone6giveaway!

Chicken Ramen! <3 I never thought chicken in ramen would taste good. I liked it! I think I could have finished one bowl by myself if I wasn't quite full that day :D

Really bad Japanese considering it's not what I would call affordable. This got me thinking that one of the things BGC needs is an authentic Japanese restaurants similar to Little Tokyo. Better head to Nanbantei if you're in the area!

I usually have the rice bowls (Oyakudon or Gyudon) with Miso soup and Gyoza for lunch. This time I tried their Seafood Ramen. And if you've been following the ramen craze for a while, well this one's... Ok at best! :)

Another night were we can't decide where to eat. So we walked along highstreet, even went to fort strip, but we are so choosy that night 128568
And we ended up at Red Kimono cause we're craving Jap due to Family Mart (decipher it lol 128169)

Ok, so I ordered Mixed Kamameshi and we also had a Maki Platter.

It's oh so good. The kamameshi seems to have a small serving, but nooo, it fools you, the bowl is deeeeeep. 128077

✅ taste
✅ serving size
✅ value for money
❎ ambience (makes me feel sleepy)

But overall it's still a good one. Will come back to try more food.

Sunday is either fresh seafood or sushi day for me. And because my fave sushi place is closed at this hour, I decided to go to their sister resto instead. Red Kimono.

Like her more sophisticated sister Geisha, Red Kimono didn't disappoint. I ordered my usual salmon sashimi and spicy tuna roll and every bite is a piece of heaven. Well, okay not really. Maybe "almost" heaven. I didn't get that foodgasm that I always get when I eat in Geisha. This one's a little mellow to my taste. The sashimi does not have the melt-in-mouth texture I'm used to. And the spicy tuna roll is not as spicy as I expected it to be. Oh I ordered miso soup too. And not the one I'm used to either. It didn't have the tofu squares that i like. Well at least the lemonade met my expectations. It's refreshing and well, lemony. :)

Regardless, I still enjoyed my meal. I wasn't ecstatic but I am not disappointed either. Slightly cheaper than Geisha so I'd say it was still a good experience.

I tried the layered spinach and tofu, and I enjoyed every bite of it. 3 layers of tofu with spinach in between coupled with sauce - this appetizer is to crave for. I can eat this everday! Only, I find it quite costly.

*Pardon for the photo, taken this inside the car for on the go meal.

Maybe i'm just a fan of makis with salmon, mayo and crunchy stuff on top but i really loved their spicy salmon shots!! P120 for 2 giga bites. 128523 I also had their torikatsu, breaded garlic chicken with garlic butter mashed potato. Nothing great. Only the spicy salmon shots were memorable.

Their beef teppan is ok but servings are too little considering it ranges P400-700 per order. A bit pricey and not worth the buck. The green tea halo-halo has big chunks of ice that is not very appetizing. No wonder it is not that crowded.
