Their salt and pepper spareribs are delish! Same with their hakaw and xiao long bao 128513
The lemon chicken was just ok for me.

I’m still amazed with how Kapitolyo transformed from a quiet residential area to one of the busiest foodie destinations in the Metro. I remember how we’re limited to two options, St. Gerald’s (a homey café near my school) or Three Sisters (one of the pioneers in the area that sells delicious barbecue and pancit bihon). Now, I have so many options that I also need my toes to count it.

The spotlight this time is on Red Panda Bistro. I planned to try this place out with N a few months ago but the menu didn’t appeal to us so we went to Gostoso instead. I was still curious about the place though so when M invited me for dinner, I suggested Red Panda.

Since the cuisine is Chinese, I wasn’t really that ecstatic in choosing what to eat. Plus, I was so embarrassed for arriving late and looking harassed with uncombed hair. Anyway, we decided to go for the following: Roast Duck Dumpling (PHP115), Broccoli and Cauliflower Cheese Gratin (PHP380), and Chinese Style Ossobucco (PHP490).

First served were the dumplings.

Roast duck meat, celery, shiitake mushrooms, carrots—it wasn’t anything fancy but it was okay. Unfortunately, it left a bad impression when the wanton wrapper was too sticky to the point that it won’t separate from the paper wrapper (which is not edible). Well, it frustrated M… quite a lot.

Next served was the broccoli and cauliflower cheese gratin. I loved this one as I like broccoli. I loved the mix of the chewy texture of cheese and the slight crunch of the broccoli and cauliflower. Plus, the taste wasn’t overwhelming.

But the slow cooked beef shanks dish was the best one that night. The meat was slow cooked so it was so soft that you don’t even need to chew! It also had a slight sweet taste which is quite something expected from Chinese dishes.

It was a good dinner. But it might take me a while to visit this place again as there are just too many new restaurants to visit.

Squeezed in a dinner date with my boyfriend before heading to his thesismates place after picking me up from OJT. Hehe! Decided to try this place out as it was the newest "kid" on the block at that time and they had ample parking.

We got their Roasted Duck in Chocolate Sauce with Foie Gras. Got this because I love foie gras and roasted duck plus the intriguing chocolate sauce.

Flavor-wise, it's good. I liked it! The amount of foie gras was also pretty fair (though I would've wanted more on that dish). However, the duck was quite chewy. I kept gnawing on it til my jaws hurt cos I really wanted to eat it.

The chocolate sauce was on the side (luckily!) because I didnt really like it together with my duck and foie gras. It's a nice palate cleanser though! HAHA FREE DESSERT?

We also ordered their pesto shrimp fettuccine? I cant recall the name. Flavor was above average. Needed a little bit more seasoning for the flavor to really come out. The pasta, however, was a delight! 128523 It was soft but not too soft (?) it's not al dente but it was very thin and the width is thicker than your typical fettuccine it's almost like a pappardelle kind of pasta. Really yummy! Shrimps were also okay in size.

Gave it a 4/5 because we basically owned one of the waiters there asking for so many refills of our "biscuits" (see pic) and house tea cos we were so famished when we got there. If it werent for the good service, I would have given this a 3.5/5.

Oh, also, price-wise my P500 for the duck was worth it. Even with the painful jaws I got after eating it. Haha!

We were supposed to eat in Mad Mark's yesterday, but it was closed. So we wound up eating here instead. Not bad. I liked the roast duck dumplings and the scallop dumplings. Xia long bao was alright. Shi Lin pa rin, when it comes to xlb. But the mantou bun was yummeh! 128522 A good discovery in hipster Kapitolyo

A lot of bad reviews, but let's give this place a chance.

The ambiance is very inviting. I go here if I'm craving for my before sleep congee fix. (The beauty of living in Kapitolyo, everything is a step away, so even before you sleep, you will find a reason to eat. Okay. This can also be a disadvantage. 128061)

Okay. Going back. I also try their recommendations, with the wide variety of meals, choosing is such a chore. Good thing, the waiters are very eager to give suggestions and their recos are not so bad after all, like this very cultured siomai. Yes it's cultured because you don't dip it in your usual toyo and kalamansi. It's truffle veal soimai, so you dip it in the truffle sauce. Why not? It's the generation of truffling everything - pasta, pizza, steak, dip, and now even the siomai is truffle. Haha!

The place looks great - clean, elegant and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We ordered the Broccoli and Cauliflower Gratin and the Beef Curry. The veggie dish was really good and the beef was well cooked. The only downside is the serving size vis a vis the price . It would have been a better experience if there was more food to eat - o baka nasanay lang sa party eating where there's no limit.

Overall a good experience although I haven't seen the bill yet. 128521

On edit: we also got their pint sized ice cream- Oreo Cheesecake flavor. It's delicious!

Sousvide short ribs with chinese style sauce - it was okay. It was a bit dry.
Truffled roast duck stuffed ravioli - We had to ask the servers for salt & pepper, it was bland. Barely even tasted the truffle flavor.
Tri-colored buchi (chocolate, ube and original) - the saving grace from the bunch. I don't normally eat buchi because of its filling - red bean. When I found out that there's a chocolate buchi... (I have a sweet tooth so I just had to order it 128539)
We were able to identify the chocolate flavor. As for the ube, there was none. I think the two other buchi were original-flavored. Forgave them cause they were still yummy. The redeeming factor was the crispy outer shell. 9996

Randomly ate at this place for a lunch meeting. The restaurant is eye catching and very inviting. Clean and modern which translates easily to one that it must be good here. The interior is very homey and hip with a visible big kitchen seen through glass windows.

The food we ordered was mediocre. The dimsum looked sad and was kind of cold. The red panda fried rice was too bland. The broccoli gratin was nothing to brag about. The pork buns were nice and hot, and the taste was on point for that. Also ordered a beef rib dish and fried half chicken but was not able to snap a shot. The beef was really tender and taste was ok. The chicken was max'ish tasting.

Service was good. Our server was knowledgeable and she gave recommendations. They even offer a free shuttle service to and from your house to their restaurant. Pretty cool. One big surprise was the bill. Pretty EXPENSIVE!!! 2 dimsums, 2 fried rice, 1 sio pao, 1 broccoli gratin, 1 beef rib, 1 half chicken, 4 iced teas almost 4k!!!! Not sure its worth it as there are other cool little concept restaurants along this road that are more priced friendly. Not sure i would eat here again anytime soon. It just wasnt memorable. Though the bill was. 128514

Ohh the reviews. All negative for this new restaurant.

On a lighter note,

Steak was perfect!

Steak and hash.

And I tried the roast duck dumpling.

Loved it.

Man this place sucks. Sorry guys but it's true.

Had lunch here yesterday with the family. It was a choice between Rub Ribs or Red Panda.

We chose Red Panda since it's new and we haven't tried it.

The restaurant is all nice and fancy and all. Service was spot on but that's it!

I did not like a single dish we ordered. (Fried Noodles, Some beef something, Mixed veggies, some hakaw looking thing and fried rice)

Preparation and presentation was perfect though. But taste, ZERO!!

Man this place is a chinese resto na pinilit.

Super expensive pa. That thing in the photo, that's P900. Ang liit na, wala pang lasa. What makes it worse is I PAID. 128557128557128557 But seriously. I don't mind paying as long as I enjoyed. But nope.

That's it. I can't go any further. Don't go here.

For Kapitolyo standards, this place is huge. Nice interiors, but sadly it all ends there.

Ended up dining here since it's the only one with available parking along East Capitol and we were looking for a pitstop place because of the horrendous payday Friday traffic.

Ordered the Chinese platter which consisted of the usual Chinese cold cuts. Tasted ok but your usual Chinese resto bets will give you more for what you pay for. We also got the butterfly prawns which I read in some of the reviews here on looloo. Since we're just 2 diners, we got the small serving which according to the menu was good for 2 diners. When the actual order came, good for 2 nga: 2 medium sized prawns lang! To make things worse, 1 prawn was not cooked well.

Opted not to complain since we wanted to leave the resto and transfer elsewhere.

In another one of my family's Sunday dinners, we decided to try out this newly opened restaurant since my mom talked highly of her first dining experience here when a colleague of hers celebrated her birthday.

Red Panda offers dishes that are a fusion of two well-loved cuisines namely the Chinese and French. We tried out their best sellers and we were satisfied.

I for one am not a fan of eating vegetables but their Broccoli and Cauliflower with Cheese Gratin had me eating greens like Popeye. It was that good! Their beef spareribs were "fall-off-the bone" tender. We also tried out their Gokong soup which oddly reminded my aunt and I of the Filipino dish, Nilaga. Their Suahe was a hit! I loved it was large and how the seasonings reached the seafood inside the shell. I also got to taste their Iced Tea, which was served in an adorable glass boot and garnished with tiny orange slices. For our dessert, we tried out the Basil ice cream (the one in the photo) which I bet every sweet-toothed pesto lover would enjoy.

Their prices may be on the higher side but I can assure you that their servings come in large sizes ( there were 7 of us who dined and we only ordered their M-sized meals) and it is worth the expense. The staff were not only friendly but they were also very good at recommending such and such dishes. We liked their dish recommendations! 128077

All in all, I think our family will definitely come back to this restaurant seeing as how half of the pack hasn't tried it out yet and there are still birthdays to be celebrated. 128521 I give this restaurant 5 stars and I recommended all you foodies out their to try dining here soon.

The place looks great. They also sell a lot of unique grocery stuff - some of which are Turkish desserts. The food was good. We ordered the osso bucco, the lemongrass chicken (very tender), red panda fried rice, and some fish dishes.

Oh, and the service was very good.

I'd come back to this place soon.

The food was good. My husband and i ordered shrimp dumplings, salmon and tofu salad abd butterflied prawns. Presentation was ok; the prawns were fresh. I liked the salad as well; i especially liked the dressing (mustard and sonething else, sorry i was not paying attention). I had ginger tea for my drink and liked it as well. The servings were for sharing. The waiters lang nga did not know what was in the food (if the food was spicy or what was in the dressing); on the upside, they took the time to find out and promptly got back to me on my inquiries.

It's worth a try. :)
