Prettier than it tastes :( The eggs Benedict were good but the I found the biscuit/bread thing too thick and bland. Really good service though! And the place itself is nice for Instagram hahaha

The ambience is very nice and very cozy.

The menu doesn't have too many choices but I was able to taste a bit of everyone's orders. Everything was great and despite the price, and the serving size, the dishes were very filling. I personally loved the Pork Belly Benedict.

I would definitely come back.

Restaurant Verbena of the Discovery Country Suites certainly is one of the perfect fine dining places in Tagaytay. I am loving a number of their flavorful dishes.

I liked the fact that this is one of the restaurants in Tagaytay that pretty much brings a more private and intimate setting. Not crowded, with a number of indoor seatings (complete with a fireplace to keep diners nicely warmed on chilly days) and a few terrace seatings. Since our visit was for lunch , our group decided to be seated at their terrace which afforded us a nice sweeping view of the lake and bask in the soothing cool breeze of the ridge while enjoying our meal.

Their menu though quite short, offers diners selections of their specialty Appetizers, Salads, Mains , Pasta & Risottos, Desserts, and beverages (both non-alcoholic and spirits).

While waiting for our meal, we were served complimentary home made bread with various in-house specialty dips. We loved the huge warm , freshly baked baguette-like bread with their bacon dip, herbed butter, and tomato dip. The bread had a delicious lightly crunchy crust that was sprinkled with chopped nuts, with a soft spongey inside. Yummy dipping with the three spreads. We were also served with complimentary starters of Amuse Bouche and Fried Quesong Puti Spring Rolls nicely plated in a bed of basil pesto drizzle and mixed greens garnished with edible flowers. Their Amuse Bouche , reminiscent of Croquettas , was crusted with a light crunchy bread crumb crust that delightfully pocketed a mix of starchy mashed potatoes and with a chorizo center. The Fried Quesong Puti Spring Rolls was deliciously crunchy yet had that nice creamy-sharp melted cheese filling. These were quite good with the pesto sauce and the mixed greens.

Our main meal started off with their Signature Organic Mozarella Cheese Pot nicely served in a Stone Pot and an accompanying basket of freshly baked Foccacia bread slices. The cheese dish was basically a pot of melted chunks of creamy, gooey, Mozarella sizzling in a bed of delicious homemade chunky tomato sauce. It made excellent dipping with the warm Foccacia bread.

I loved their "Rossini" Beef Burger. Quite a gourmet burger presentation. The beef patty, made of USDA Angus Beef was perfectly seasoned and grilled giving a delicious and juicy flavor. It was topped with a slice Seared Duck Liver (Foie Gras) that further gave the burger a buttery, earthy , decadent flavor. Instead of the usual burger bun, their use of a buttery brioche bun (faintly like good ensaymada) made for a perfect burger sandwich. The accompanying fries, served in a huge paper cone, was nicely fried and came with two dipping sauces . The dipping sauces of Catsup and Truffle Madeira Sauce (aioli with rich truffle essence and chopped mushrooms). The Truffle dip was decadent enough that we easily forgot to use the catsup.

I also loved their Black Truffle Risotto. The arborio rice cooked perfectly in a buttery broth flavored with truffle essence and white wine. The black tinge owing to the fresh chopped mushrooms that further enhanced the delicious earthy flavor. The rice dish was topped with a hard boiled egg that was lightly coated with crunchy bread crumbs and thick slices of smokey salty-sweet bacon. I must say, one of the best Truffle Risottos that I have tasted.

Their Seafood Risotto was also divine. The grains were perfectly cooked in a buttery seafood broth with a tinge of tomato sauce that gave a delicious creamy-slightly tangy flavor. It's consistency was good with that nutty texture and creamy consistency. The dish was mixed with fresh, plump, and sweet seafoods consisting of prawns, a whole Tiger prawn, squid, clams, green mussels, and scallops. A few shaving of melted Mozarella and a drizzle of basil pesto perfectly tied the dish's flavor and texture altogether.

Their Norwegian Salmon Fillet was also delicious. The fillet was nicely seasoned and seared to perfection. Nicely served over linguini tossed with a light tomato sauce, arugula, and sun-dried tomato pesto.

The place is the in-house restaurant of one of Tagaytay's premium accommodation places, the Discovery Country Suites. In terms of ambience, Verbena perhaps may not be similar to the more popular fine dining destinations in Tagaytay known for either the rustic feel or nice whimsical setup or posh country feel. Albeit these considerations, the restaurant has a neutral yet relaxed feel. Aside from its menu, it brings that fine dining experience with the use of thick table linens as table cloths and napkins. More than the multi-awards garnered by the place, the restaurant has a seal at their doorway that certifies them as a member of the Chaine De Rottisseurs (the oldest and prestigious international gastronomy society dedicated to the promotion of fine dining).

I must say however, that this place does not come as an everyday-dining place purely because of the price of their dishes. It can easily cost between 1500-2500 per person. BUT, Restaurant Verbena does come highly recommended to foodies looking for a more intimate venue for some special fine dining with the promise of really good food (plated beautifully) while at Tagaytay.

Another hidden gem in tagaytay! Mike took me here to celebrate his birthday. If you're looking for a new fine dining place , this is the place to be. We ordered the cheese pot, ribeye steak, black truffle risotto, and their verbena chocolate cake. I told the waiter it was my boyrfriend's birthday so they gave us complimentary chocolate cake and helped me organize my mini surprise. I love everything that we ordered. One of our best dinner date nights! I dont really eat red meat, but I fell in love with their steak. Dont forget to try their cheese sauce for the steak. As for the pricing, it was quite expensive but you get what you pay for :) Will definitely go back!

Throwback. Had lunch here to celebrate our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago.
Must try!!! - Organic and Mozarella Cheese Pot
Plating was good and made us feel we were in a 5-star hotel.
Great ambiance matched with nice cold Tagaytay weather and awesome view of Taal Volcano.
Ordered the chocolate marquise with pistachios and it was so good!!' And same with my other reviews they get 5 stars because of pistachio ha ha.
It was one memorable anniversary celebration!

Good food & ambience! They serve complimentary bread & salad which were both yummy. Though service can take some time, the dishes were yummy & filling! Price ranges from Php500- Php2000.

Must try: scallop salad, lamb greek salad & lobster carbonara & dalandan shake!

Since we were celebrating our 2nd anniversary and the coming of the year of the wooden horse (Kiong Hee Hwat Tsai! 128114126980️), we were looking for an alternative fine dining restaurant in Tagaytay other than Antonio's for a change. After doing a little research on the internet scouring through my favorite food blogs and looloo (of course! 128521), we ended up choosing Restaurant Verbena because of its impressive accolades - voted by Philippine Tatler and The Miele Guide as one of the Philippines' best restaurants..I was sold!

Here's what we ordered:
Organic Mozzarella Cheese Pot
-Served fondue style with spiced tomato sugo, fresh tagaytay herbs and warm focaccia bread. The mozzarella was stretchy and gooey and chewy and paired perfectly with the delicious tomato sugo! We were mopping what was left of it with the soft focaccia bread up to the last drop! Simot sarap! 128516 5/5!

Basil Caesar Salad
-Organic romaine lettuce, classic dressing, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella and tapenade crostini. This is a variation on your classic caesar salad..no bacon, no heavy dressing, no croutons..just romaine lettuce and crostinis..sounds sad right? But taste-wise, it did not disappoint! Each piece of lettuce was crisp, fresh and evenly coated with dressing and parmesan. The crostinis were spread generously with basil pesto topped with a piece of sundried tomato and a dollop of mozzarella cheese. I liked this version! It was light and refreshing..meaning more space for more food! (#thisiswhyimfat 128055) 5/5!

Verbena's Sampler Plate
-A trio of Australian lamb riblets with homemade barbeque sauce, grilled Norweigan salmon with arugula-mushroom salad and U.S. beef goulash. The lamb riblets were falling-off-the-bone soft and the barbeque sauce it was smothered in was the perfect blend of sweet, spicy and salty. The salmon was a bit disappointing though..the portion was too small and it lacked flavor for me. In terms of texture it was spot on, flaky, not oily and well cooked with it's skin slightly charred. And last but not the least, the beef goulash! An uberly tender piece of braised beef over fluffy mashed potatoes..yummy! 4/5!

Lucban Longganisa Risotto
-Roasted Tagaytay bell peppers, spring onions, "piment d' espilette" and Spanish paprika butter. The risotto was creamy and the bell peppers were wonderfully sweet. The longganisa was a good contrast to the creamy-ness of the risotto but was quite spicy and had a lasting after taste which was a bit too strong for us. Other than that, it was really good! Next time we'll try the Black truffle risotto since it's their best seller! 4/5!

The country feel ambiance of the place is nice for date night, family gatherings or barkada reunions. A bit on the pricey side though but the quality of the food makes up for it. We plan to come back for their classic swiss fondue and desserts! Their panna cotta and chocolate souffle look very promising! 12851612807710084

Great view, superb service, romantic ambience. Very good date place.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Discovery Country Suites a few days ago. Instead of going to our usual special dinner place at Antonio's, we decided to try out Verbena Restaurant. We brought our baby dog, Arwen, with us and we didn't want to leave her inside the suite all on her own for a long time.

After the wine and cheese at 5-6pm that comes with the accommodations, we ordered beef mushroom ravioli, cheese pot & pan-grilled seafood. But then we heard Arwen cry so we decided to have our dinner in the garden. We still had a great view & Arwen could join us

The food: here's another problem - we were already full from the wine and cheese so we had trouble finishing our dinner 128540 cheese pot was ok but we already had a lot of cheese. I loved the beef mushroom ravioli. The pumpkin purée of pan-grilled seafood was a bit too tart for me but still good. Not as expensive as Antonio's but for the price, it's worth it.

For the record, Antonio's is still our favorite restaurant in tagaytay. But as a place to have good food with our baby Arwen, Verbena is the place.

5-stars for the superb service esp. Mark.

I always say, let's unwind and drink some wine. At this place, I would say unwind, dine and drink some wine! Si! This is the place to do just that, sweetheart.

A quick getaway and a fancy dinner with a special someone. Aaahhh! Magnifique!

I LOVE their Sweet Corn Velouté with Smoked Bacon Bits, Australian Lamb Riblets with homemade barbecue sauce, Grilled Norwegian Salmon with Aragula Mushroom Salad and U.S Beef Goulash, Seared Chilean Sea Bass, Salmon Snapper, Prawns, Ginger Pumpkin purée in brown butter sauce.

Don't forget the red wine. :)

2 words. Happy belly.

And oh!! Their very own Honey-Ricotta Crème Brûlée is crispy and yummy!!!

I highly recommend this restaurant.

P.S.

Their complimentary chicken liver pâté is amazingly delicious! ;)

Such a great place to chill and have lunch, specially on Sundays. I love the seared foie grois and I recommend the mushroom truffle risotto. I honestly don't remember what everyone else had, I just know they enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey, but worth a trip to Tagaytay.

Woke up this morning and wife and I decided to go to nuvali with our son to feed the fish. For some reason, this moved from just nuvali to having lunch in tagaytay and we decided on Verbena.

I'm not usually a fan of "big plates, small good type restaurants". This one though, I have to say was pretty good.

We have caprese salad for starters which was good. Then for the main courses we had Australian lamb shank, roasted prawns and scallops on carrot rissoto and black truffle risotto.

All were really solid dishes. Very tasty and well done considering its not a high volume restaurant as we were the only ones eating since we arrived at 11am. Service was also very good. Water was refilled constantly and milk for the coffee was warm.

I would definitely come back.

P.s. I haven't seen the bill yet. I'm sure it's a shocker.
