I gotta say bibimbap is growing on me.  When he asked what I want for lunch - i blurted out Bibimbap!  Off we go to SM North.

SM malls have one thing in common - it is friggin crowded (except for Aura).  Anyway,  we had to deal with the deluge of mammals loitering around the mall.

Rock and Seoul - the encore.  I got the Original again.  Generous servings of veggies and i picked the spiciest level.  Alas!  It is still not hot enough for my liking.  Yes,  i breathe fire,  ladies and gentleman.  What i noticed whenever i eat Korean food is that i dont feel bloated after,  i guess it has something to do with the equal portions of carbs, protein and veggies.

I plan to scout Poblacion next,  there are a lot of Korean restaurants there.  Here's to more bibimbap bowls!

After my check-up with the doctor,  i went straight to Trinoma to meet CMA.  No issues with the commute as the P2P bus is really comfortable.  I got a couple of zzzz's during the commute.

Why QC?  Proximity, dear.  Conspiracy is relatively near.  I picked Korean for dinner,  Rock and Seoul it is.  I picked 'em because they offer bibimbap variations.  And as you may have noticed,  my knowledge in Korean fare is limited.

Located on the ground floor.  Straightforward set-up,  head to the counter for your order,  take the number and have a seat.  Wait for your food to be served.  I got the classic bibimbap,  he picked the beef bulgogi bibimbap.  Prices are relatively cheap,  classic has a price tag of php 190, while beef bulgogi costs php php 225 (i think).

While we were waiting, i checked the interiors.  Red is predominant,  vinyl and rock and roll posters adorn the wall.  Now i get the Rock and Seoul name.

I was surprised when the food was served.  Huge servings!  Equal proportions of meat,  veggies and rice.  Complete meal - carbs,  protein and leafy greens.  As for the taste,  it is good.  I can't make a comprehensive description of how a good bibimbap should taste like as this is my second time to eat some.  All i can say is that my tastebuds liked it.  They liked it enough that i managed to eat em all.

I rest my case.

Peace Out
~Reich

Ordered Chicken Teriyaki (245pesos) it was good. Generous serving of vegetables and rice. You can order 30% protein for only 45pesos.

Friendly staff and the theme of the place features visual puns and witty jokes of rock and Korean culture. 🙂

Bibimbap that is affordably priced, lots of flavors to choose from with a serving size you can smile about.

Nice to come in groups because each of you can order your flavor and get to sample a lot of flavors at once. 128522 I went here with the family and it was great.

I had the Korean Fried Chicken Bibimbap. The texture of the chicken was great, and went well with the rice and veggies. Two thumbs up to their soy based sauce too! They're just ob the table so you can season your food as you wish. It put the dish all together. 128513

Mom had the seafood, our family friend had the pork barbecue, the bf had the original bibimbap and my sister had the Mexican taco. All were delicious, especially the Mexican taco! 128522 My bf had his bowl with extra spicy sauce, it was tolerable but had an intense aftertaste indeed.

Everything was great, except the waiters were weird serving food that's not right. He served me the pork barbecue bowl saying it was the chicken. Ermmmm... Yun lang naman, but all in all, I would still come back. 128517

I've gone to Rock & Seoul twice since it opened and I love their bibimbap selections.

For the first time, I tried their Classic Bibimbap and when coupled with their house sauce available at every table, it becomes magic as the sauce adds another dimension of flavor and provides the "umami" factor that completes the dish.

For the second time, I tried their Tofu Bibimbap and though it was lighter on the stomach, the flavor with the house sauce was still everything I craved for at the time.

I hope that they stay at SM North and also expand as it's an awesome product. :D

🙂

Went to SM North today to buy some groceries and help out with a friend's ingredient shopping for his recipe. He was going to cook some oriental noodles so i decided to pair it with some bonchon chicken. However the bonchon near the supermarket was closed so i decided to get some chicken from this place.

Rock & Seoul is a new restaurant here in SM North. Im really glad that they opened since it adds to the wide range of food selections in SM. Decided to take out food and the interior seemed Asian-like. The space is rather spacious but im not sure how big it was since I only ordered take-out.

I ordered their fried chicken. It was placed in a plastic bag with their logo but im not really sure why it was in a plastic bag. QC has an ordinance about the non-use of plastics for packaging. Anyways, i was really disappointed when I saw the chicken because it just looked ordinary. I thought it would be like Bonchon's chicken, fried and coated in a savory and sweet sauce. However, when I ate it i was very pleased. It was soft (not all chicken places serve chicken cooked at the right temperature thus most of the time chicken is hard). Even though i ate it one hour after i ordered it, it was still juicy and crisp. The skin was rather crisp. The dip was too die for. I dont usually like spicy food but their gochujang had the right salt and spice. For two pieces however it was rather pricey for 160 pesos.

Their service was just okay. They had some unknown artist from GMA (according to their camera sticker) who was supposed to feature the place so the crew were somewhat flustered. Being seen on TV and all. Im not really sure how'd they go during dine-in orders.

I was very pleased with the new way Rock & Seoul introduced Korean flavors in fried chicken. I will surely go back to try their bibimbap and their other menu selections.

We decided to check out one of the new restaurants at SM North Edsa The Block for dinner. We finally settled on Rock & Seoul, the first of its kind in the metro!

Upon initial inspection, one would notice the similarities it shares with Pepper Lunch, but more Korean since they focus on bibimbap variations. The place looks very hip and modern, with white brick walls, framed t-shirts with puns on them and shelves stocked with rock and roll memorabilia.

On the menu, they have pre-made bibimbaps ranging from more traditional flavors to ones with tofu or seafood and even Mexican and shawarma-based bibimbaps! Prices range from 210 to 270 pesos, but you can also customize your own bibimbap for 290 pesos if you aren't feeling any of the premade choices. 128522 Aside from all those bibimbaps, you can also have some Korean fried chicken and other Korean food and drinks.

I settled on their Beef bulgogi bibimbap (260 php). It came in a hot sizzling semi-deep plate containing veggies like bean sprouts and zucchini slices plus beef strips arranged around a serving of rice and topped off with a sunny side up egg and kimchi butter. I also had my order served medium spicy, so there was a definite kick to it. 128540

I enjoyed mixing up all the ingredients, fairly hefty serving. The beef they served tasted good, but I enhanced the flavor even more with the sauce they provided on each table. Each mouthful provided a nice mix of spiciness, flavor and texture. 128077

Realized I haven't reviewed Rock and Seoul when cleaning my phone photos. Busy busy but since I've been struck by a big big wave of laziness this whole week (I haven't written any report I planned to finish 128553) I'm doing this review first. #priorities

Rock and Seoul is the first branch of its kind in the city. Yay, they chose the now-more-fun SM North EDSA The Block, as previously mentioned by neighbor-foodie-friends April H. and Ruth D.. Haha, neighboor foodie friends talaga, kasi same area!

After checking out their menu, it reminded me too much of Pepper Lunch. R&S is like its Korean version. Let's see...

And sorry |, I forgot to take a picture of their menu 128514

Obviously, they are a Korean restaurant and focus more on bibimbap. If you're a fan of this dish, I think you'll like this place. Their menu shouts BIBIMBAP and a lot of new and unique versions of it. As far as I can remember there were around 10-15 Signature Baps you may choose to order. For my first visit, I settled with the basic/original version. If I remember it right, I saw pork salpicao, mexican, shawarma, bistek, tofu bap, and other more variants. I like this new concept, unique and intriguing. made me want to go back to try each variant. :)) They also have some minor Korean dishes like chap chae, korean fried chicken, and salads.

I think they also have a make your own bap where you'd choose which toppings you want to be in your bap, making it more fun! Will visit agan for this experience.

As to my Original Bibimbap, it was an okay for me. The rice came with beansprouts, cucumber and carrot strips, spinach (i think), sunny side up egg.. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that they served it on a flat/shallow sizzling plate. The photos made me assume it's presented in a bowl type of hot plate. 128517 Shallow sizzling plate means quite a small serving for the price. Taste-wise, it was an okay. Some of the rice/toppings got burnt. Maybe my fault for taking too long while taking photos? :)) I liked how generous they were with the meat and other toppings though. The sauce was mildly spicy, just right for me but spicy lovers for sure would like to have a stronger kick.

I loved the bright and modern vibe inside. Good mix of colors with a hipster-ish vibe. 128077🏻

I would give their food 3.5 stars for now, but because of the ambiance and experience, I'm giving a 4... Will have to visit them again next time. 128522
