I would have given them more stars if not for the following:
-The salmon was overcooked.
-I asked if the salmon was skin on or skin off. The waitress said they put crispy skin on the side and apologized that it was unavailable so I assumed the fish had no skin. Apparently, it has and since it was put on a bed of mashed potatoes I ended up with soggy skin. If it has a cruspy skin, note that it should ALWAYS be skin-side up so we can enjoy it.

Taste-wise though, both the mushroom soup and the main course are awesome.

Pretty weird to eat 'mud' straight out from a pot haha the 1st spoonful is the most challenging but after tasting it then it would be so much easier 128556127851127793

Just had dinner in Tong Yang and we were so full. Wanted to have a better tea, hence went here.

Service was bad. Their waiters were so tamad and seemed bored. Hard to get their attention, they're just busy chatting by the open kitchen. 128078🏻

No wonder the reviews here are negative.❌

My first time here... Had the pumpkin soup and their black pasta with smoked salmon. Both were fairly good. At least you're assured of high quality and organic ingredients. Don't mind coming back soon... 128055128077128522

This place is very cute with its ambiance and the details- their wooden menu and their potted dessert, which I highly recommend. The plant-like dessert is broken down cake with ice cream and rock chocolates.

Their pasta choices are really good too, but we were only able to try the Black Pasta with Smoked Salmon, Carbonara and Prawn Portofino, which I arranged in order of my favorites! Loved how the squid ink went so well with the smoked salmon, yum!

Planning to order their omelette the next time I visit as I heard good things about it as well.

I absolutely loved how the place looked. It's actually the main reason why we decided to try it out. The seats and the lighting made the restaurant look so cozy! We even forgot about how a part of it was under the escalator lol.

Their menu was very interesting with all the organic and healthy stuff they offer but I decided to stick to the classic bacon and mushroom pasta. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't very good. It was ok. My dad got their chicken emence (sautéed chicken breast with vegetables, steamed rice and parmesan) which I wish I got instead. If I were to come back, I'd definitely order that one. My mom had their Grandma's eggs, bacon and potatoes which she liked too. Their Roots iced tea was also good.

For dessert, we got their Roots potted dessert, which is on the cover of their menu. It was basically chocolate cake with chocolate rocks on top of Madagascar vanilla gelato. It was really cute but it was just OK.

I liked everything about this restaurant. The servers, the food, and the ambiance. I'll be back for sure! But a little tip to those who are interested in trying this place out, if you're in a hurry, don't come to this place. My mom's dish came out 10-15 mins after we ordered, mine came like 10 mins after hers and my dad's dish 10 mins after mine arrived. 128533

We had a mother's day dinner there. The place is just absolutely cute and I was so excited to try it. But my food arrived after 15-20 mins and then my mom's and her boyfriend's food arrived like an hour later. An hour! I didn't complain 'cause well... i'm nice (lol) but they sure did.

The staff is very very nice and the resto is very pretty. It's a little hard to sit on the benches when you're wearing a pencil skirt tho lol. We ordered beef salpicao, grandma's bacon eggs and potatoes, and a grilled salmon. All good food. Their house iced is called Roots Iced Tea so I thought there would be something, idk, special about it but it was pretty ordinary. They gave us another mason jar of it as a sort of apology for the delay.

I may or may not go back. It was all okay. Had they not taken an hour to serve us. But maybe it was just that one time so still give it a go.

The Pasta Chicken Paprika was really good and it just has the right amount of ingredients in a pasta plate. Serving size is good for 2 people. The bacon was thick and reminded more of Jamon Serrano instead of bacon. The Chicken in the pasta however still needs to improve by making the flavor if the paprika intact.

If the service was a bit better, would have given them four or even five stars. But the attention span of the wait staff, considering the place isn't full, needs improvement. It may be due to the din being at the center of the mall...I sat right smack in the middle, 3 to 5 feet away from the service station and I had to wave my hand and call out three times before being attended to (each time I needed something). Three wait staff and only one responds with speed and utmost courtesy (thank you, Levy!!! Look for him if you decide to go to Roots because he responds with ease and a smile).

The food was delicious. Caesar salad excellent (the croutons were over toasted but tasted really good not bland)...! The mille feuille was excellent... Perfect puff pastry, just enough cream (not too sweet) , fresh strawberries (wish there were more!) and whipped cream with chocolate drizzle.

Sweet drip coffee was excellent as well. Perfect blend. Would have been wonderful to have at the BEGINNING of my dessert (not in the middle of it) as I originally requested.

If you are taking your time, eat here. If you are in a hurry, don't risk it. It took them fifteen minutes to serve my iced tea.

However, staff was accommodating of other requests such as splitting my salad when it came and packing half of it for take-away (it was too big, was not briefed on the size or whether it was for sharing)...

Maybe my next visit will be better...

Happy holidays! I might come back just for the Mille feuille :)

Pricey, definitely. Taste eehh. Location, no question. The pork chops are a clone of cyma, drier and sweeter. Mille Feuille, looks great, tastes eehh. Scallops and prawns, looks great, tastes eehh. So expect an expensive dish that looks great for your social media but tastes eehh...

The place is deceiving..

I like the service here but the food is way below expectations especially for the price that they're quoting on each dish.

HARD SEARED SCALLOPS (P435)
I paid this amount for three bad scallops on a plate. It was lacking flavor and felt like I was served raw food. The jamon serrano on the side did not help at all.

SEARED PRAWN & SCALLOPS (P595)
The prawns were awful, dry and dull. They serve it with almonds and chimichurri on the scallops which I thought made that scallops taste too sour. It has romaine lettuce on the side. Again, why would you serve veggies if they are not fresh?

POLLO ALA ROOTS (P395)
This I can work with. It's not the best tasting roast chicken but I liked how the way it was cooked.

BLACK PASTA with SMOKED SALMON (P385)
This is the only dish that I think fave worth to the amount I paid. Serving size was good. Pasta was cooked nicely and the flavor was just right.

I forgot what my dessert's name was but was almost similar to napoleones only that it was tasteless and dry.

Eggs and Asparagus.

Expectations: Traditionally, you'd expect a bed of thick asparagus and a nicely poached egg sitting on the stalks of green, so when you break the egg, that runny yolk would dribble and "sauce" the veg.

Reality: The dish was like Where's Waldo on a plate. If you can't find the 10 pieces of stick thin asparagus, it's under that hunk of bread. And the poached eggs in mini ramekins. NO, JUST NO.

Salmon Pasta.

Pasta = Mush. That's all you need to know.

2 stars for pretty interiors
