I want to start my review with an apology. Sorry, my id took over and i completely forgot to snap a photo. Well, this is expected when you are dining at RICH! The food is so good, it will make you forget stuff. Anyway, i am using a recycled photo. This was taken when i had dinner at their MoA branch.

I got myself some Butter Chicken and Cheese Naan. I told the server not to tone down the spice as i want my Butter Chicken as legit as it can be. I can take ze heat, y'all! My homies will not call me Dragon Lady for no reason.

The Butter Chicken is nothing but awesome. The sauce is heavenly. A lovely mixture of tomato gravy, ghee and cream. It is an explosion of flavors! The chicken is cooked to perfection, tender and oozing with tandoori spice.

The Butter Chicken is best eaten with some Cheese Naan. Listen carefully...

Get some Naan
Roll 'em and
Dip like it is the last dip you have

The chewy x soft texture of the flatbread works well with the butter chicken and the cheese adds an excellent flavor contrast.

This is the best dinner i have had in a while. Never mind the poor usage of descriptives in my review. I dare you to try RICH and see for yourself.

It's been a while since my last #NewRestaurantsFor2017 post! Josh and I have been quite busy with work and family, and we can't seem to find a common time. It's been a month before we finally got the chance to go out on a date again!

I volunteered to visit him in Makati, since he had work last Sunday. Oblivious to the schedule of restaurants during the weekend, I came up with several options... But when we got there at around 6PM, most of the restaurants were closed already! This is the disadvantage of not being a Makati person. 128546 It was my fault, too, for not being able to check the store hours first.

After minutes of searching for alternatives online, Josh decided that we try Royal Indian Curry House (RICH), since it is near Century City Mall (we wanted to have dessert there). To be honest, I'm not really a big fan of Indian food, but I'm willing to give it another go.

When we got there, we saw that many of the customers were Indians, so the food seemed legit 128076 We went ahead and ordersed our food, based on the recommendations made by our server:

✔ SAMOSA (Php 159) - 1108811088110881108811088
We were torn between having all-veg or non-veg ones, good thing the server informed us that we may have two pieces of each! I liked the non-veg ones more, since they were more flavorful and the filling is a bit firmer compared to the mushy filling for the veg samosas. They provided us with three sauces: Tamarind, Mint, and Chili. I especially liked the tamarind sauce with a few drops of chili sauce. 128525 The crisp wrapper tasted great, too! To me, samosas are like Indian empanadas.

✔ MURG MAKHANI - BUTTER CHICKEN (Php 439) - 110881108811088
This dish was recommended to us by the server -- according to him, this is a bestseller in RICH. When the food arrived, we instantly loved the rich aroma it came with. Upon tasting it, we were a bit underwhelmed with the taste. Personally, I would've wanted it to have a taste more inclined to its tomato component, but instead, it was too buttery -- a bit too much for my liking. Josh initially said the taste was one-dimensional. Though, we appreciate that the chicken chunks were super tender, and not the least bit dry. After eating the dish for quite a while, Josh said that the taste seemed to be growing on him, and he's starting to like it more and more.

✔ TANDOORI PRAWN (Php 499) - 11088110881108811088
This was Josh's pick. He loves prawns so much!!! 128517 For me, it was good -- but too pricey (There were just 7 pieces of prawn). The prawns were fresh and newly grilled, and had a smokey flavor. It can be eaten on its own as it is already really flavorful, or you may also drizzle on some of the tamarind / mint / chili sauces depending on your preference. It is slightly spicy, but nothing that is too much to handle.

We paired all of the above menu items with an order of Plain Basmati Rice (Php 179), which is already good for 2-3 people. Since I am on a reduced rice "diet", I ate around 1/4 of the rice, and Josh finished the remaining rice. The rice was so good with the butter chicken! 128525 I also love how al dente and not sticky the rice is.

The service was good and fast, and the ambiance was great, too! You'll feel like you have suddenly been transported to India because of their interiors. 128586 I'm glad that this sparked my interest in trying out more different cuisines -- even if I'm uncertain whether I'll like them or not.

As for RICH, it was worth a try -- but a bit too pricey for me. 128184

Indian Feast. 128115🏼 First time trying Indian food and was surprised that it wasn't as "weird" as I expected it to be. 128518128517128586 Out of all the dishes that we tried, I enjoyed the Cheese Naan and the Mango Lassi drink the most. 128155

Finally! I found the best roti canai around for me! Texture may be a bit too crisp but flavor is a hell lot better and close to the ones at SG. We loved the tandoor shrimp, it was really delish! A bit hot but it's the only tandoor that's not too dry as well! Loved the butter chicken of course and by the way we discovered a new dish we liked, it was the dumpling. Who knew they have dumplings! Anyway, this now ranks as our fave Indian restau. A bit pricey but worth it for adventurous dinners128540

I think this is only my second time to dine at an Indian restaurant. What do I know about Indian Food? Naan and Papadum. 128514

The place was full house at 4PM and 70% are Indians. One of the chefs at this restaurant is also Indian and that says a lot about the food here. I know I was in for an authentic treat.

We opted for dishes that are good to share. We had the Mutton Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka, Naan and Saffron Rice. I really don't know anything about Indian cuisine so I may sound stupid here. 128514 I asked the server a lot of questions and she was very knowledgeable about the food.

MUTTON ROGAN JOSH (PHP499)
Nahiya pang gawing PHP500. Haha! This is a Kashmiri delicacy and they normally use mutton instead of lamb. It is more tender and fattier than lamb and no questions, the meat was really soft. The stew was cooked in slow fire so the herbs and spices flourish and the meat is cooked all the way through. I love the mild heat of this dish and smells really good. This was perfect with the Naan.

CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA (PHP439)
The dish looked very appetizing with its creamy texture and orange color. It is composed of roasted chunks of chicken tikka in spicy sauce. It was creamy, spicy and the perfect dish to pair with saffron rice.

SAFFRON RICE (PHP299)
I am heavy on the rice so to me this is only good for one. 128514 to give you an idea, it's like 1 and 1/2 cup of rice. This can also be good for sharing. I love basmati rice cooked in saffron. It's light and delicate plus the saffron makes it a savory dish. It has a floral aroma as well that activates my appetite.

NAAN (PHP119)
Three pieces of plain Naan served in a basket. This is like an Indian version of Mexico's soft tacos. I learned about Naan because of Naan MNL and I fell in love with it the first time I tried it. This is the perfect partner for any dal or curry dishes. I love dipping this in spicy stew. Nasimot ko yung Mutton Rogan Josh. 128514

Service was great! Fast and Friendly.

After meal, I walked to Century City Mall and just before I entered the mall, I saw a lady running shouting "Sir Sir Sir". Yun pala naiwan ko ung salamin ko. She handed it to me smiling kahit tagaktak yung pawis haha! Forgot to get her name though. BIG THANKS! 128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼128077🏼

I’ve been setting my eyes on dining here. Indian restaurants in town seem to be low in supply especially the good ones. Just by the mere name of it, of course I had expectations. I expected the place to be extra nice and the dishes to be oh-so-good.

One could opt for the non-vegetarian version of their Samosa. We had the vegetarian kind as we had multiple meat dishes that day. The pastry was a little thick but very much filled with potatoes and peas. It was served with multiple dips which I forgot to take note of. My friends and I liked the green one. It had this mild flavor that balanced the samosa. The red was spicy and the dark brown one was tamarind dip.

Just look at all that sauce! Heaven for me. Hahaha. Their Murg Makhani (Butter Chicken) was one of their recommended dishes that day. It’s tandoori chicken cooked in creamy tomato gravy and finished with butter-punjabi. It was indeed very creamy. The chicken was tender and had all that curry goodness in. We requested to have this dish on a mild spicy level but one could opt to amp that spice level up.

Another recommended dish, we just couldn’t stop eating chicken that day. Hahaha. Their Chicken Tikka may look spicy but it wasn’t at all. The chicken meat was very tender and flavorful. It had this somewhat smoky taste which was a good pair to the curry dish.

The consistency of their Gulab Jamun confused me a little. Its close to our "puto" but not quite. It could be likened to a muffin but more airy. Its taste was slightly sweet which was quite enjoyable. It was a good finish to all our tasty dishes that day.

So glad to have finally dined here with my close buddies! I’m always up for Indian Cuisine so yeah, I was really excited before and looking forward to dining here again. In terms of price, a little pricey but you do get quality dishes.

If I remember correctly, we ordered Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka, and Butter Chicken Curry plus rice and they were all good! I must say though, that my favorite from the bunch is definitely the Chicken Tikka because it's delightfully flavorful. 128523

Indian cuisine is not very popular here in Manila. You’d seldom or barely see an Indian restaurant in the malls or foodie havens. But when you do, more often than not, it would give you a distinct gastronomical experience. And that was what I experienced when I went to Royal Indian Curry House.

Hello, Royal Indian Curry House.

Our foodie godfather, Foodgrammer.ph, invited Ruth S and I to join him in an Indian feast a few weeks ago. As curious foodies, we quickly said yes and crawled (literally because of the traffic) our way to Makati and was greeted by an impressive five-storey restaurant across A.Venue Mall.

The first and second floor have the same interiors while the third floor is more of a bar or pub with billiards. The fourth floor is dedicated for private functions and the fifth floor is yet another bar with a cute jeepney as the cocktail bar.

Our generous host suggested most of the dishes we were about to feast on that night. I just chose Sweet Lassi (PHP179) for my drink and went with whatever everyone’s getting.

First served were the Vegetable and Non-Vegetable Samosa (PHP149 and PHP199) and Sharaabi Chana (PHP249).

At first, we were confused with how the server got to know which samosa is which. She let us in the trick and told us that the puffed pastries with lines on the edge are the ones with chicken meat while the ones without are just with vegetables. I liked the non-vegetable ones more as the chicken meat gave the dish more flavor compared to the ones with just potatoes and peas.

Everyone loved the Sharaabi Chana but the rough chick pea like texture made my throat itch so I stopped after munching on two balls.

Next served were the huge servings of naan. I got to try Butter (PHP149) and Cheese (PHP199) naan and both were good. I liked that it was quite thick, fluffy and soft. My only concern with these two dishes was that each bite felt like a pound or two is added to my weight as these popular Indian breads were pretty oily and sinful.

But who cares about sinful carbs when you have Murg Makhani (PHP439) and Mutton Rogan Josh (PHP499).

Murg Makhani or Butter Chicken is one of RICH’s bestselling dishes. The spoonful of the delectable tandoori chicken cooked in creamy tomato gravy and topped with butter punjabi could make a non-Indian food lover change his or her mind. I enjoyed the rich and thick sauce that had a bit of tanginess from the generous serving of tomatoes. I also liked that it was just mildly spiced for me to enjoy the deep flavors of the dish.

The Mutton Rohan Josh or the slow cooked lamb with traditional herbs and spices was also great though it was spicier than Murg Makhani. I enjoyed this dish more with the Chicken Biryani (PHP499) than naan though.

I was already stuffed and I was not able to taste the Mutton Biryani or the sizzling plate of kebabs. I did get a bit of the prawn and a piece of chicken but both were a bit too dry. I am just not sure if it was because we let the food sit on the hot plate for a long time or if it was because it was really overcooked.

While sipping the last drops of my delightful sweet lassi, the desserts—Gulab Jamun (PHP149), Carrot Halwa (199), Firni (PHP229) and Vanilla/Strawberry/Chocolate ice cream (PHP149)—were served.

I had a bit of the Carrot Halwa and it tasted like a very moist carrot cake. Firni had a strong ginger taste great for cleansing the palate while the ice cream was nothing extraordinary. Sadly, none of the desserts impressed me.

Despite the not so good ending, it was still a pleasant dinner. I tasted new dishes and discovered new loves.

Definitely a must try!

If you're looking for authentic Indian flavours, RICH is the place to be. Absolutely love this restaurant. Chicken tikka masala and garlic naan is to die for.

Doesn't get more authentic than an Indian Chef in the kitchen hehe 128540

R.I.C.H. is truly rich. Ordered the buttered chicken (indian name's too complicated to remember) with plain naan. The combination was heaven. Added chicken tandoori stuffed with ground meat which is super tenderyyy. Partner with plain or flavored Lassi (yoghurt milk drink) and you're off to Mumbai. 128077🙂

There's a wide selection of food on the menu from veg to non-veg

Buttered chicken serves 1-2
Naan serves 1-2 but get more if you're really hungry
Chicken tandoori serves 2

Price range: 200-500 pesos.

I was craving for curry and thought that I might just try this place. The appetizers were good especially the flat bred thingy which had a lot of diff interesting spices. All the other dishes were just so so. I tried the desserts as well and again, it was just average. Although there were a lot of Indians eating there - I'm not sure if maybe I was just expecting something different.
