Here again at Rub Ribs!!! This time with my frequent food trip buddy Aneth who was the one who sort of dragged me back to this place (after she saw my picture of the ribs I took on my FB account he he). 128516

We didn't expect that the restaurant was full house at the time we arrived so we had to wait first outside, but it won't take long! Even after lunch time the number of customers never seemed to let up. Maybe because it was a Sunday.

As said on my first review, I would come back to try their Burrito Bowls, which looked like one of this resto's newest offerings.

What we had:

127830 Ribs (Single, 1 side + rice, ₱230) - 11088110881108811088
Aneth's order! We seemed to share the same opinion about Rub's smoked ribs. She also preferred this (to let's say, RB CTY's ribs) because it was not drenched in too much BBQ sauce (which could have caused the ribs to taste a bit too cloying), so you'd get the smoky porky goodness of the ribs! She liked the Sprice (spicy rice) too, but commented it was not to be served to the kids! Hahaha. E me mga bata pa naman din kumakain dun at the time. The Sprice was included on the side dishes list on the menu, but I guess they served plain rice too.

🌯127834 Burrito Bowl (₱215) - 11088110881108811088
I ordered the pulled pork one (the other type included chicken). It looked pretty that at first you might see a salad bowl hehehe. I've never had burrito before nor that I wanted to try it because I thought the dish was weird -- carbs (rice, corn, black beans occasionally) wrapped in carbs (wheat flour tortilla).

Now I got to try this "naked" burrito in a bowl and what could I say? It was yummy! Porky, a bit tart, a bit spicy and a bit rich because of the white sauce (I couldn't say what it was), and it tasted fresh too because of the lettuce. Servings were just right for me -- or I thought was more than enough I almost didn't get to finish it! Rice, corn, pork, veggies -- ang bigat sa tiyan! Hahaha. Now I finally got to try what a burrito tasted like, sans the tortilla wrap (and might prefer this to the usual wrapped-up burrito).

127846Up in the Clouds Ice Cream (₱105 per cup) - 11088110881108811088
Rub Ribs also sells ice cream, sourcing it from the artisanal ice cream maker Up in the Clouds. We tried one of their famous flavors, Butterbeer... So to Harry Potter fans, you might wanna try this!

The velvety ice cream base was flavored with butterscotch and speckled with bits of toffee. Reminded me of mocha ice cream. A tad too sweet pero keri naman!

Overall, a satisfying lunch! Flavors were excellent and the servings pretty much validated the price. Yun lang, again, the place was a bit dim but it was only a minor inconvenience.

PS we noticed that their salt shakers had some rice grains inside, so we asked the server why. He explained that the rice grains helped prevent the salt from becoming moist and musty. Some education there! 128516

When you're coming to RUB and your group consists of four grown-up hungry peeps (like me and my three sisters), I have some nice tip for you:

Instead of ordering the "Family Brunch" meal (ribs + three sides of your choice) that serves four people, order *two* "Super Duo" meals -- that was a better deal. So we got two ribs + four sides for a combined price of ₱800, just a ₱70 difference to the ₱730 "Family Brunch" meal (Check out their menu on Zomato).

I liked their ribs -- tender, falling-off-the-bone, and not too drenched in BBQ sauce so you'd still get that nice smoky flavor. Sarap lang papakin hehehe. The BBQ sauce was served separately. The vegetables were crunchy and well-seasoned, while their Sprice (Spiced Fried Rice) was not too spicy -- just right. 128077

Coming all the way from the airport (we had just fetched our eldest sister there), we were really famished. Ate was craving for pork too, so we decided to eat at RUB in Kapitolyo. Good thing we managed to snag the last order of the night before the restaurant would close, hahaha. Place was a bit too dim though.

Their menu looks interesting -- will try the Burrito Bowl on my next visit. 128522

If I could put a review without any star, I would! 128544128078 This restaurant doesn't deserve any! So for others who like this place, I am sorry but we don't.

Our first time to try this resto bec our first choice was full. The reasons why we would not go back to this place:
1. After we ordered we waited for more than 30 mins and waiter told us that burgers are no longer available! 128544
> 30mins??? Kung hindi pala available sana sinabi man lang agad.

2. About 10 mins after, another waiter came to us and said that the side order that comes with our entree wasn't available also... 128299128544 Im already pissed. One its dinner time, antagal namin pinag antay tapos kulang kulang pala menu?! What the?

3. Another 15 mins siguro, may dumating nanaman na waiter at yung order na chicken fingers hindi daw nasama sa order!

Ayy nako talaga! 1 hour of waiting and still nothing?!? So much for first time. Nakakawalang gana. Kahit ang laki ng serving nakaka dismaya sa service!

Price of money hindi ko masabi na okay kase hindi ko na nagustuhan service umpisa pa lang e... so... no i wont ever come back to this place! Marami ibang gantong resto na mas okay at mas deserve ng review! 128544128544128544

The main reason why we do not dine here as often as we like is the limited parking slots which are usually occupied during peak hours. We were lucky enough to snag a slot and the last table when we arrived last Friday night.

Ordering Raki's BBQ Ribs was a no brainer. We went for the Super Duo with Potato Fries and Sprice.
The ribs were very soft and easy to separate from the bones. I generously slathered more of that smoky thick sauce before each bite. The Potato Fries were cold so I only ate a few pieces. They did not time the food well. The Spiced Fried Rice was flavorful but they mixed in a small portion that was very hard. I like tutong but this was too much.

The Pepperoni Pizzadilla was a spicy yummy mess. There was no way I was using my hands hahaha. Everything tasted delicious but I wouldn't mind a slightly toasted version and less sauce. This pizza and quesadilla cross breed is an awesome snack choice.

The aroma coming from the Fried Oreos from the nearby table prompted us to get one. A yummy fried treat that goes well with the vanilla ice cream. The perfect way to end our meal.

My only complaint is that the table is too small for the food especially if you order a platter to share. Space is quite tight.

I'm pretty sure we'll be back to satisfy our cravings for ribs. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that we are as lucky with parking the next time.

My initial assessment of Rub was less than satisfactory. First there were drinks in the menu that were not available. And these are just your ordinary sodas take note. Second, the place had a few guests but it took then too long to serve the food. Third, the waiters were horsing around while people were dining.

The food was good though. The cajun ribs was not what I exoected. It was deep fried to a perfect crisp which is so unlike the usual smoke flavored variety. It went well with the salad and the spicy chipotle sauce. I literally had to ditch my utensils so I could enjoy it. We also ordered their french fries which was just average.

I would have given Rub a higher rating if not for the other things which are equally important than the quality of food.

Always a beast after an intense workout! Last nights pick for recovery was Rubs! The last time I dined here was years ago. 128563

Anyway, my boyfriend and I were supposed to share a dish, but we both wanted different things, so we ordered separate instead. I went for their classic ribs, which came with rice and I picked spinach and mushroom as a side, while my boyfriend had the smoked pork belly. The ribs were good! Not fall of the bones but flavorful on its own, but adding more sauce makes it even better. The smoked pork belly was awesome too! Because of all the fat! 128517

The rice that came with our meals was dry (obvious in the picture, right?) huhu but the side of spinach and mushrooms super made up for that and was actually what I was looking forward to the most! It's some really good veg! I was super tempted to order a single order of that to take home, but I wasn't sure if it'll taste the same the next day. Hehe

For dessert, we really wanted some Fried Oreos, but they ran out of Oreos. Boo! We had just one choice between a truffle cake or their other ice cream dessert, but that wouldn't satisfy our real craving.. So we just decided to skip dessert and get the bill.

Service is okay. The servers always took awhile to get to us. Sometimes they get too into what they're talking about amongst each other, they don't get to notice customers raising their hand. I hope they can do something about that.

To add, the allotted parking for Rubs is limited, but there are surrounding side streets you can park in at your own risk! I think they have a restroom of their own, but I wasn't able to check it.

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

Ribs. Who doesn’t love them? Even those on a diet cannot resist the big slab of oh so good meat with overflowing barbeque sauce. I could testify. I momentarily forgot my diet--at least for a good 2 hours.

Finally, Rub Ribs! I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about this place. I know three colleagues who could not stop raving about it and I just have to try it. Actually, the reason why we had a “rib lunch out” today was because of my colleague’s addiction to the place.

The place was quite small and parking was a bit difficult that we had to park on the other side of the street. The place also has another side business—SMILE Intervention Center.

We were all very hungry so we ordered within 2 minutes. I ordered the Singles—half slab with one side dish (I ordered Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes) and plain rice (PHP190), an additional side dish of Buttered Vegetables (PHP65) Soup of the Day—Cream of Potato Soup (PHP100), and Fried Oreos with Vanilla Ice Cream (PHP140).

My soup arrived within 10 minutes but it felt like it was more than 30 minutes as I was that hungry. The soup looked ordinary and nothing fancy (hey, you can’t expect gold with just PHP100). It was served warm and very very creamy. You could definitely see bits of potatoes and skin proving that it was 100% potatoes. It was a bit salty for my taste though because of the cheese cubes and it seemed a bit too heavy as an appetizer.

The Singles and the Buttered Vegetables arrived next and the serving was pretty generous for the price. I was a bit disappointed though with the buttered vegetables as it was just string beans and carrots.

The meat was well cooked. It was very soft and flavorful to the point that I didn’t use much barbeque sauce. I usually do not finish my order of ribs but I managed to finish this one. It was really good and very easy to eat.

The mashed potatoes were quite okay. It was not spectacular and I was actually craving for some gravy as it was a tad dry. Then again, eating it with the succulent ribs, I totally ignored the rice.

Now, for the highlight of the lunch… dessert!

At first, I was hesitant to order this one as I found out that the dessert of the day was crème brûlée. But, I usually believe what the server tells me so I trusted her word and ordered their “bestseller” Fried Oreos… and I did not regret it.

The fried Oreos were crispy! Served a bit warm, it went well with the vanilla ice cream. It was really good that it made me hate myself for just ordering one. I wanted more and because of this, I will definitely be back! 10084

This place still has a following. There's still a line. Wow.

We got the family platter worth 700+ for my kazoku. Serving big enough for 3 of us, liked the tender ribs, barbecue sauce was pretty good. Nothing like Morganfields though. I enjoyed the mashed potato.

Very casual restaurant with basic facilities. My only concern was how small the plates are. A little bigger than a platito, I would've enjoyed my food more with a dinner plate.

I liked it, good place to try, cheap food, but not sure if I'll be coming back.

Thanks for the recos128522
