One of the best churros i've ever tasted! It's crispy outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It is also not too sweet with just the right amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar. I really enjoyed their churros con chocolate that i had to order them thrice during our stay in Amorita.

I must say it was worth the wait because the service in the restaurant was slow and the prawns that we ordered was not properly cooked! I was disappointed at that time.. good thing we finished off the meal with a delicious dessert. Definitely a must try!

The food here is phenomenal, saffron restaurant's buffet set-up is in an adequately spacious square room where everyday is a different carefully curated spread for breakfast lunch and dinner. The ala carte menu is also worth a try. The bacon here is really something it's crisp and melts in your mouth. I will definitely be back next year!

Had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while at Amorita. The breakfast buffet has a limited selection, but their selections are pretty good! This place has the best bacon I've ever had! It's like crispy pork belly bacon! And when you chew, you get all the flavor in the juices. 128539

For lunch/dinner, try the white marlin, which lives up to its description of the "BEST SEAFOOD IN TOWN". I can't even describe it, save for the fact that it's really, really good. The meat is tender and thick, like a steak, and each bite is flavorful! I really enjoyed this.

We also had chicken adobo and chicken inasal, which were really just more sosyal versions of the local food in Manila. Still good though, but save some of the calories for the restaurants along the beach instead. 128522

Back again here after 1.5 years and the food is still as good!

We had the chicken binakol and the pork binagoongan.

The baked bread appetizer itself was good with the butter and the hummus.

Yummy , earthy, juicy Cheeseburger on Home made Brioche Buns, creamy Carbonara, delicious homemade Foccacia with Sundried Tomato with Green Olive Pesto Spread, and good Chocolate Truffle Lava Cake with Homemade Raspberry Ice Cream.

On our last night at the island, we decided to have dinner at Amorita's Viewing Deck. A lovely al-fresco spot of Saffron Restaurant just off the resort's infinity pool. The Viewing deck was on top a shallow cliff, with a huge talisay tree festooned with fairy lights. Fine table setting with candle lamps and fine linens. We loved the spot as it afforded us a view of the lighted beach front stretch of Alona Beach. Made more pleasant with a cool and gentle evening sea breeze.

We felt that we had our fill of seafoods from our stay and decided to get dishes that had no seafood ingredients.

While waiting for our mains, we were served delicious fresh homemade focaccia slices with their yummy Olive Pesto spread and butter.

I liked their Cheeseburger. The meat patty was nicely char grilled, juicy, flavorful, huge. Topped with melted mozzarella cheese and veggie garnishings. It came with a side of French fries (which I found a tad bit over fried ). The brioche Burger Buns was nicely dense, chewy, and lightly grilled.nicely plated in a wooden chopping board lined with parchment paper.

Their Carbonara was good except that I found the green peas too dry (old frozen green peas perhaps).

We liked their Chocolate Truffle Lava Cake. The cake was nicely moist and spongey with the melted dark chocolate filling slowly oozing from the center. Topped with lady fingers and a yummy-tarty-creamy home made raspberry ice cream. But I'm really biased for Zuni (at Boracay)'s Matti's Chocolate Sin, Cyma's Chocolate Lava Cake, and Chili's Chocolate Molten Cake.

Five stars for the place (al-fresco, cliff side, evening fine dining). Although a bit pricey for island meals. With the desired improvement on their Carbonara, this second visit gives them 4 stars.

Saffron Restaurant of Amorita Resort's rendition of the ubiquitous Turon served with home-made Peanut Kisses Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce is definitely hands-down one of the best unique rendition of a Pinoy dessert/snack that I have ever tasted.

Five pieces of huge and nicely packed turon, stacked and plated "gourmet-style". Crunchy, crispy , fried spring roll wrappers, coated with melted brown sugar that encased a delightful mix of yummy ripe and chewy banana saba, sweet fresh langka, AND crumbled Peanut Kisses (a Bohol sweet delicacy which is a nuttier version of peanut cookies). Drizzled with buttery-sweet caramel sauce. This alone would have made a fantastic Pinoy dessert/snack. But no! The sweet crunchy rolls were topped with a huge scoop of home made Peanut Kisses Ice Cream. Creamy-peanut buttery sweet ice cream with crunchy bits of crumbled Peanut Kisses. The Peanut Kisses Ice Cream, was likewise a unique delicious treat by itself. Oh boy! Simply sweet tooth heaven. The "BEST-est" Turon ala Mode by my books >period<.

This visit was for our first meal at Amorita. We arrived a little past 12 noon. Since check-in was still at 2 pm, our group decided to have lunch first at the resort's restaurant. I had their Seafood Salad and Grilled Stuffed Squid.

While waiting for our mains, we were served freshly baked multi grain rolls with their home made tomato-cream cheese spread. For an island resort, we all agreed that Saffron's kitchen crew surprisingly baked really good bread. Crusty , fragrant, with a nice chewy-spongey inside. Perfect with their tangy-creamy tomato cheese spread.

I loved their Seafood Salad. It was a unique mix of yummy fried and crunchy camaron rebosado (stuffed prawns) served over nicely seasoned and grilled squid that were sliced julienne style (nicely chewy and tender) , chopped roasted eggplant in a delicious garlic-vinaigrette dressing and fresh greens. I loved Saffron's unique take on this seafood dish.

I also loved their Grilled Stuffed Squid. Stuffed with a flavorful and fragrant mix of chopped tomatoes, onions, and fresh herbs. The squid was nicely grilled with the right texture.

Our attentive and friendly server recommended that we try their house specialty desert--Turon ala Mode. No regrets whatsoever! A perfect meal to start our stay at the resort indeed.

Pardon the puns and jargons on my review about their Turon ala Mode. But this treat was absolutely unforgettable! How bad? We stayed at Amorita for three days, and I feasted on their Turon ala Mode specialty every single day without fail! And yes, call me a glutton--feasted meaning "no sharing".

Prices at Saffron are comparable to Manila dining. Thus, may be considered a bit pricey for provincial meals. Serving portions of their Main Viands are a bit on the small side . But, Saffron can be considered as fine island-resort dining with their nice food plating, fine table linens, fine food, all enjoyed with a hilltop sweeping view of the sea and the white sands of Alona Beach.

A perfect place for some fine dining while at the Alona Beach side of Panglao. Or better yet, I highly recommend their Turon ala Mode for foodies looking for a unique and delicious Pinoy snack on this side of the island.
