Ive been passing Sakura for years and only last weekend that I finally decided to sit down and had lunch there with my boys 128522 my son got the ramen, my husby had the beef teriyaki bento while I went for tonkatsu bento. The bento is around php400+ but it comes with rice, miso soup, slices of watermelon, vegetables and 3 slices of salmon sashimi 128516 not bad. We initially ordered 1 spicy tuna maki but changed our mind and went for Jipan's dynamite roll. Since the customers of Jipan and Sakura are mixed in their dining area we saw every table of their huge serving of dynamite roll, it reminded me of Sushi Ninja 128512 so we had to cancel our spicy tuna and opt for Jipan's version. Unfortunately it wasn't that good for us 128542 I'd rather have the dynamite roll from John and Yoko, the toppings were not crunchy nor spicy...so why call it dynamite? The food of Sakura for me is excellent! The bento and the ramen were both worth money for me. The veggies had enough serving 128516

The Sakura salad looked better than it tasted. Fresh cabbage but nothing remarkable. Tofu steak looked nice as well but taste wise, maybe it'll be better when reheated as leftovers. The tempura maki, oh my god, tasted like plain rice! And to top it off...the ebi tempura had a few bitter tasting prawns! I suppose they should stick to their seafood teppandon.

Don't you just hate it when they don't serve Japanese rice with your Japanese food? Tsk tsk tsk

Cold ramen, for a change. It's almost Christmas but it still feels like it's summer. So I thought having cold noodles would be a good idea.

This Hiyashi Ramen is different from the cold soba I've had before. While the soba was on a bed of ice to keep it cold, the ramen noodles were just chilled. The ramen was simple and it had crabstick, chicken, egg, and seaweed as toppings. They're drenched in a little amount of some dressing that had a salty and a little sour taste. Overall it tasted good.

Also had the Spicy Tuna sashimi. I believe it is one of Sakura's bestsellers and it did not disappoint. I've actually tried this before and it still tastes the same. It has some crunchy tempura breading bits, so it adds some texture to the smooth tuna.

I also ordered California Temaki. Excuse me, gutom yata ako. 128514 This was good, the mango strip was sweet. The seaweed was a bit difficult to bite though. But I liked that it wasn't messy to eat.

This is my first cold noodles so I have nothing to compare it with. It was okay. I liked it actually. A bit pricey though. Service wasn't great but it wasn't so bad either. The server just wasn't knowledgeable about their offerings.

California maki - didn't try it but i got served a

California Temaki - so-so but i really ordered a

Tamago Temaki - still ate it. Imagine my full tummy or don't.

I loved this restaurant eversince Rachel T introduced me to Spicy Tuna Sashimi. Last night, we got to try Spicy Salmon Sashimi which was equally great :). Their sashimi never failed us and we wanted for more, more and more. They also serve a huge variety of maki, some of them you will only find this restaurant. The soba that we also had last night was satisfying and added some flavor to our dinner.

Their service improved significantly since they were already able to provide our orders in less than 10 minutes from the time we placed it.

I like there newly renovated restaurant, although the renovation has been done for some time now. It's more brighter and comfortable. Their service has also improved. More attentive servers and faster food serving. Also, i just discovered that they have a spicy salmon sashimi (thanks to my friend vic) but I think I'll stick to my all time fave spicy tuna sashimi (one of the best I've tried so far besides Kenji Tei) as it's taste is less fishy, tuna where sliced into small tiny pieces and it's good for 2-3 pax.

I ordered the Sake Sashimi and All Maki Combo (or something like that). Food was authentic. We had to wait a little bit, but not too long (but there were only a few diners then which makes me think service might be slower if they had a full house). Place was small. Only 3 tables in the actual restaurant although there were a dozen more in front in the middle of the mall. Staff were so nice. Good stuff!

I was here with my 2 kids for dinner. The staff were very helpful to our needs. The place was small and quite busy, good thing we came early, serving size is good to share for 2, they have good food choices but the kids only wanted tempura n miso soup...what a day. I had tempura udon ramen. Lots of soup, not so salty but only 2 pcs if tempura. Maybe we'll go back again to try other dishes

For a Php 400 bento, there's nothing worth gushing over. Serving size of the viand was not that generous, but a few pieces sashimi are included. Service is not too spectacular, but was enough.

It was unusual to wait more than 15min. when only two tables (the one before us already had their food served) are busy. Ordered the 5 piece ebi tempura (P330), Katsudon (P275), Tori Karaage (P255) and Iced Tea (P98.00). Everything was pretty average and portions just perfect for kids. Overall, a descent resto to answer your Japanese cravings.

Ebi tempura udon. This was a bit confusing. Is it supposed to have that much fried batter floating in it?

We also tried their spicy tuna sashimi. The first few forkfuls were ok, but I soon hit my mayo threshold. I suppose it's best shared.

Just here for the Not-so-spicy Tuna. Haha! I've read other reviews and they wanted it to be more spicy. It's just right for me though, given the little tolerance I have. 128541

Other dishes are just okay. A bit pricey given the ok-quality.

I was having an intense craving for spicy salmon sashimi, but because it was raining, and because I was too lazy to walk all the way to Nihonbashi Tei, I settled for Sakura's Spicy Shake Sashimi (Php 295) to feed my post-dinner craving.

I like Sakura's (relatively) new look. I've been passing by it ever since I was little, and at one point, it looked so old and tired that I wondered if it still managed to attract a good number of customers. I'm happy it was given a brighter, cleaner face lift, although I still am uncomfortable dining outside the restaurant. (If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about).

I was a little excited to see a generous mound of spicy salmon on my plate -- generous, it was, in panko (bread crumbs) more than in salmon; spicy, it was barely. Needless to say, I was really disappointed.

The salmon was a pale pink, indicating its lack of freshness. It was also cut into really tiny pieces that made it hard to savor. The salmon and the bread crumbs were mixed together with Japanese mayonnaise and was only lightly sprinkled with chili powder. After a while, I got tired of the taste and immediately regretted this dish.

When the bill came, it amounted to Php 309, including service charge. J e s u s Christ. If I knew that I'd only be getting that quality at that price, I should've just walked to Nihonbashi Tei.
